Singapore National Player twitlonger: https://twitter.com/STYR0N/status/1656555851837247489

The decision made was to rematch the game at 5-5 which benefits Indonesia as they were down 10-4 but Indonesia didn’t want it, they wanted Singapore to be disqualified so they could win the gold medal. The entire fiasco lasted till 4am whereby the players were still held at the venue (they were at the venue since 8pm). They then decided to replay/rollback at 8am in the morning. During 8am, Indonesia forfeited the match for “National Dignity” and before the medal ceremony, they disputed for the gold medal. Indonesia being down 1-0 in the series, wins a joint gold medal with Singapore.

edit - Indonesia Esports Central Board (PBESI) took the entire Indonesia crew to the place where the LAN was held at 2am to protest (shouting) and demand that things go their way, it is also reported that Indonesia would reward esports athletes up to US$341,000 in bonuses. Because of PBESI, Singapore players were constantly harassed and receiving death threats and family curses

Thoughts about this situation?

Honestly respect the players from Singapore, they followed the rulebook, agreed and obeyed all decisions made by the TO only to get screwed over. Worst tournament hosted ever. So much for Indonesia wanting to uphold national pride/dignity by forfeiting the match and then afterwards disputing before the medal ceremony. Forfeiting but still receiving a joint gold medal, this is legit the biggest L competitive valorant has witnessed

edit - fixed grammar and added my thoughts

edit - added more info

Whole situation is shady by Indonesia side, PBESI (Indonesia Esports Central Board) wanted Singapore to forfeit for a so-called “cypher cam bug”, mind you that the Cypher Cams used by Singapore were also used in VCT Americas and VCL Americas. The rule book did not even state those cams were illegal. They did not get Singapore to forfeit so they themselves forfeited the match and filed a dispute for the gold medal before the medal ceremony. This makes the entire Singapore team have 2 options,

  1. Agree to a joint gold medal with Indonesia

  2. Wait 1 week in Cambodia for the dispute results (Singapore players already had their flights back to Singapore booked after the tournament ends)

Additionally, Singapore only had 3 ladies who were assistants and not from any council to help them, While Indonesia had the entire PBESI (15 people).

Singapore players were also shit talked and berated by the PBESI (Source: https://twitter.com/nethenoobval/status/1656568808826605568?s=46&t=bNrIbrQav_Xn9UroQhObpg)

edit - Justice for the Singaporean players and Singapore team and also Riot… please have a Universal rulebook that every tournament will use

edit - A picture speaks a thousand words As the Singapore players had to rush to the airport to take their flight, the only Singapore representative left to collect the gold medal was seen crying (https://twitter.com/crazyguyfps/status/1656583766381592578?s=46&t=bNrIbrQav_Xn9UroQhObpg)
