Hi folks,

Wanted to check in with you all on your experience with green fencing/privacy. I currently have areca in a section of the property, still young and not giving a full cover.

Now I'm planning on doing the same on one side of the property line, and I'm debating if this tune around I should opt for podocarpus instead. I've seen a couple properties with quite a well maintained and manicured podocarpus, I like the coverage it provides, but also noticed that many times people have skinny trees and you can see through.

I know that some people hate arecas because of the failing fronds. So far not a problem for me. I like that their seem to be quite resistant and pretty fine at creating a privacy screen up to around 8ft.

I'm mentioning these 2 because are the most readily available in the Big Island.

I'm your experience, which grows better for the mentioned purpose? Any idea of making arecas grow bushier?

And any suggestion overall when it comes to green fences?

Thanks in advance!!
