• Maryland primaries (polls close 8pm ET): There are lots of important races to watch tonight, but we probably won't get clear results. Why? Because under Maryland law, mail-in ballots can't be counted until Thursday at the earliest. (Dems passed a bill to change this, but it was vetoed by Larry Hogan). Here are some of the main races:

  • Governor: Hogan is term-limited, making this a prime pickup opportunity. The main Dem candidates are Comptroller Peter Franchot, former Attorney General Doug Gansler, and former DNC chair Tom Perez. On the GOP side, there are four candidates.

  • MD-01: Maryland's only GOP-held district is an uphill battle, but we won't let Andy Harris go uncontested! This race is between humanitarian worker Dave Harden and former State Delegate Heather Mizuer.

  • MD-04: Rep. Anthony Brown is running for Attorney General, which opens up a safe blue seat. There are nine Dems in the running; former Rep. Donna Edwards is the favorite, but anything can happen in a wide-open race.

  • MD-06: Redistricting left this as a narrow Dem seat, so we'll be watching to see who will challenge Rep. David Trone. This is a seat we can't neglect this fall!

• Mississippi State House District 119 special election: (polls close 7pm CT, 8pm ET): This district in Gulfport is electing a new Representative because Rep. Sonia Williams-Barnes (D) took a job with the Southern Poverty Law Center. Mississippi special elections are officially non-partisan, but both candidates are Democrats, so this will remain in our hands!
