Welcome! This is a friendly place for those cringe-worthy and (maybe) funny attempts at humour that we call dad jokes. Often (but not always) a verbal or visual pun, if it elicited a snort or face palm then our community is ready to groan along with you. To be clear, dad status is not a requirement. We're all different and excellent. Some people are born with lame jokes in their heart and so here, everyone is a dad. Some dads are wholesome, some are not. It's about how the joke is delivered.

I just recently joined a new gym. My 4th day in this gym, I was working out , Leg day, and some lady approached me during my set. She works there, and teaches classes like swimming and group classes for middle aged woman lol.

My gym doesn't have any calf machine, so I was doing seated calf raises with a 45lb plate on my knees. Then this person started saying :"What are you doing?? Why don't you use the machine for that?" . As I mentioned this gym has no calf machine, so I thought she meant the leg press and doing calf raises, which the machine was already taken anyway so I told her that. Then she says" why don't you do those standing still?" I was like whatever I don't even remember what I said back this time I was with my earphones on and MID SET so I just wanted her to let me finish my set.

I keep doing my workout, and she is no longer there. Then after finishing legs , I decided to do some abs. So I started doing cable crunches with a rope, which is an exercise I really like .

Then this happens: I am mid set yet again, with my head tucked in my legs, doing the freaking crunch, then some random women working out there touches me, and points to that same girl who interrupted my set before.(the gym has a pool as I said and it's visible from the gym, separated by a glass) Guess what: this worker from my gym not only interrupted me but two people workouts, by telling this other woman who was on the treadmill to call me, which she must've felt awkward as well.

I stopped my set and went to see what she wanted, and she was screaming through the glass:"WHAT are you doing??" And I wasn't sure she could hear me through the glass so I pointed to my abs and said it was an ab exercise. Then she looks at me like I'm some fucking dumb beginner(no offence to beginners lol) who has no clue wtf he is doing in the gym, and puts her hand on her forehead in sign of disbelief of what she's seeing, and then she lays down and starts doing fucking normal bodyweight ab crunches. Then she says "See?? Now go" nodding her head. NO SHIT I didn't know what an ab crunch was... Anyway I went back to finish my set of rope crunches.

This was some fucking embarrassing and awkward experience... everyone on the gym looking at me, that b screaming at me trough a fucking glass...

I can't lie that kinda ruined my workout and made me cringe, so that I was hesitant going to the gym the next day.

Anyway, I go there next day, I say good morning to the people at the reception desk, and guess who was there... The ab rope villain. Then she says to me:" See if you don't make so many mistakes in the gym today".

And I was like wtf.

I truly don't know how to feel, I just joined this gym and already wanna leave lol. Today I was planning on doing T-Bar rows with barbell, but I might just not because it's such a bad back exercise right, thank god I have someone there to correct me.

EDIT:Thanks everyone for all the support. Everytime someone coments the more I realize how fucked up this actually was. Anyways, who gives af, know what day it is today? Leg Day ...and Abs. Sooo guess what exercise Imma be doing ... Repping those rope crunches with full stack on that bitch's face .

My personal trainer used to be vegan for 5 years and told me how she could never go back. She puts it down constantly, especially regarding muscle gains and that you can’t eat a lot of plant based protein without also eating either a lot of carbs or fat compared to straight up meat. She has her bachelors in nutrition and was just bashing mock meats being way more unhealthy than just a clean piece of lean of meat (I never mentioned I eat mock meat). She also mentioned how she finally reached her fitness goals when she gave up veganism. She asked if I’m ever going to consider not being vegan and I said no and she seemed disappointed.

I told her I don’t really care for physique, I just want to be healthier, move my body, and become a bit stronger. For reference I’m over 30, I’m 5’5” and 110 lbs and I do struggle with frailty because I’m very sedentary. I always have been frail though, even before I became vegan 8 years ago.

Yesterday, I’m embarrassed to say, I was struggling to complete only 2.5 lbs of seated dumbbell press (3 reps of 15). I did 10 lbs at first, failed real fast, tried 5 lbs, failed fast. And when we went down to 2.5 lbs she said “Girl we can’t get any lower than this” and when I was struggling she randomly said again how she could never go back to veganism. It’s just discouraging and I feel judged that because I’m vegan it’s because I’m weak.

I know fitness is a journey and I just started, but she just seems to think it’s veganism in particular that’s holding me back and there’s no positive reinforcement whatsoever. I know I should probably get a new trainer who can work around my diet, but this whole experience has just made me feel so discouraged, judged and weak overall. I don’t even feel like having her train me or go to the gym anymore. Just felt like sharing 🙁
