Wes Anderson, running with the style of Soviet era Lenkom Theater and film maker: Mark Zakharov • Wes Anderson, running with the style of Soviet era Lenkom Theater and film maker: Mark Zakharov

Wes Anderson frequently has characters define their own personalities and things you might other wise only see in a character description or prose- in their own voice, his films also feature many set designs created to break the fourth wall and remind us we are watching a film, but can easily be watching a play. These are all the same moves used by Soviet film maker Mark zakaharov in “a common place miracle, “to kill a dragon and “the formula of love - which I believe are all based on writings of Yevgeniy Schwartz.

The similarities of style in story telling are uncanny. If anyone can add anything to this thought - I’m very interested to hear.
