Hello Letter-ers!

It's been a while since we've had any major news about our little network of Letter subreddits, and today we have a lot of big news. Strap in, it's going to be a long one!

1. Moderation

I took a hiatus from modding for a while as I was away from a PC for some time. I am now back and able to be more active, so with the help of the other mods on all of our subreddits, we have cleaned up all of the fake wars and spam across all of the Letters! In addition, we will now be taking a more proactive approach. Letter Wars not initiated by the official r/TheLetterWars subreddit are not real wars, and will be removed. This also applies to ally agreements and general attacks. More information on the status of r/TheLetterWars later on.

1.5. New Rules, Shared Ban List

Starting now, we have more clearly defined rules across all of our Letter subreddits, so that we can also be providing clearer punishments. The new rules are:

  1. [Insert Letter Here] - This subreddit is for [insert letter here], not any other letter. If you like another letter better, go to that letter's subreddit.

  2. Don't be a [Insert Enemy Letter Here] - Be respectful of other users. Hate speech, harassment, abuse, or incivility of any kind will not be tolerated. Insulting people's views, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, abilities or **letter preference** will not be tolerated. Keep debates friendly and constructive.

  3. Spam - Do not spam. This includes: fake Letter Wars, posting the same post multiple times, advertisements or harmful links, and bad websites.

The punishments are as follows:

  1. First offence - Warning, Removal of Content

  2. Second Offence - 1 Day Ban, Removal of Content

  3. Third Offence - 5 Day Ban, Removal of Content

  4. Fourth Offence - Permanent Ban, Removal of Content, Banned across all Letter subreddits

That last one is something we are instituting in order to further dissuade fake wars. None of our subreddits will be safe harbor for those who seek to start fake wars.

1.9 Moderator Applications

To help be more active with moderation, I am opening up applications for moderators for our Letter subreddits that need more help. If you have a favorite letter and would like to help moderate, comment on this post with what Letter you would like to mod, why you would be a good mod, your timezone, and what moderating experience you have.

2. TheLetterWars

It's been a while since we've had a letter war, and we are still working on refining the bot to help make it more fair for the smaller letters. In the meantime, u/zippee100 created the loser subreddit style for r/TheLetterG, and we will be posting polls in order to determine allies for the future Letter Wars! The first vote is for allies for r/TheLetterH, so go vote!

3. TheForgottenLetters

We also have a new network of letters! u/zippee100 has been hard at work finding people to create subreddits for letters that have been lost to time! They will soon be having a competition to see who will be the first to join the ranks as an official Letter subreddit! Go check out r/TheForgottenLetters, find a Forgotten Letter to support, and check out the competition!
