This is the remake of the year for me. They nailed everything, from the visuals to the feeling. Vicarious Visions made it again.

[–]StarfighterProx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've already played like 20 hours and I'm still blown away by how good it is. It's not the way the game was (i.e. not a port), but it's the way I remember it. Amazing stuff.

[–]Nerdfather1 16 points17 points  (4 children)

I haven't played the game in over 15+ years or so, but when I started playing it again it felt like riding a bike. It was seamless, and all of a sudden a huge wave of nostalgia hit me. This game is so damn good. It captures everything I felt back when I was a young kid/teenager.

[–]likehardcoreee 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Totally agree. Its been nostalgia city and I feel like I picked up right where I left off. Except I'm 15-20 years older now and my wrists hurt a lot more after playing so much lol.

[–]nobodybutran 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How old are you bro, if it's not toooo personal. Mine hurt a lot too even though it's been a year since I got a console. I'm a PC guy back then.

[–]SuperSaiyanNoob 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That's a bold statement with the success of FF7 and the poll being only at a 7. I might have to try this out then.

[–]shinikahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may have a point there, FF7 was fantastic.

[–]MrMontgomery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bought the collector's edition that comes with a full sized deck for when I get the PS5 but since there's still no indication of when that's happening have just had to buy it for pc as I just can't wait to get to play it in 4k

[–]droams1 89 points90 points  (13 children)

Like riding a bike... Haven’t played the game in 20+ years and it has the exact feel! Love this game and the replay ability is amazing. Hopefully they expand their online gameplay!

[–]Corporate-Asset-6375 43 points44 points  (3 children)

After 20 years I really suck at it. Just need to keep playing for it to come back but the middle school version of me would be disappointed in how much I’m falling on my ass.

[–]junior_dos_nachos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am hoping I pick it up after my stats are improved. I used to nail insane combos. But that was 20 years ago

[–]ParkHoppingDuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same!

[–]Celebrity292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just barely broke 30000 last night

[–]bigdwb1024 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Replayability looked like replay ability to me and I was like "Wait Wait did I miss a replay system?"

[–]MuggleStomper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Replay System would be cool .

[–]KimDongHwanKimDongHwan 5 points6 points  (4 children)

The only input reflex that I have that does not correspond to a feature in the actual game is pressing R1 + L1 to get on your feet when you are about to fall. But I guess it makes sense not to add this to this remake because the levels are not designed with that in mind.

[–]BIGDOOKY15THE_BIG_DOOKY 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah that feature didn’t come in until Tony Hawk’s Underground, which in all honestly, I will completely lose my shit if they remake that.

[–]sleepwithtelevision 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Do you mean to straighten your skater out in the air? If so, that’s L2+R2, and it still does the same thing (usually when transferring from vert to street).

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

He is saying getting off the board which will avoid a bail and still keeps the combo going. Personally not that big of a fan because it makes running lines and whatnot trivial, but it might be nice for some freeskating stuff or specific challenges.

[–]sleepwithtelevision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, gotcha!

[–]equalsolstice 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It really is , I played so much of it when I was younger I popped it in and pulled off a 300k combo and my gf was like holy shit isn’t this brand new? That muscle memory of the buttons stayed in place lol, having manuals added helps too

[–]MuggleStomper 83 points84 points  (9 children)

This game is pretty close to perfect. I do wish I could select the different modes from with the menu once I am in a level. For example just from Free skate to the challenge sessions with out needing to go back to the main menu.

[–]shinikahn 35 points36 points  (6 children)

Tbh the loading screens are the only annoying thing in the entire game for me.

[–]ReyPhasma 24 points25 points  (4 children)

At the same time School II has one of the best loading screen quotes ever: “Almost only counts for horseshoes, hand grenades, and Jamie Thomas.”

[–]StarfighterProx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I LOVE the way the music plays uninterrupted through the whole thing.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

You can do that @mugglestomper just select “ranked goals” then you can go from free skate to single sesions and stuff

[–]MuggleStomper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man really? Cool

[–]Keplar56 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Awesome remake. Wish I could skip the « 1st to reach score/combo » modes in multi because the other ones rock, but otherwise it’s pretty much perfect

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Wish I could skip the « 1st to reach score/combo » modes in multi because the other ones rock

Yeah, that is absolutely the worst challenge. Lasts like 10 seconds and is more about ending a less-than-impressive combo at the right time than actually pulling off a sick combo.

[–]Shameless_Bullshiter -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It's a math challange

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an uninteresting math challenge that lasts 15 seconds and then forces players to wait another 2+ minutes before the next challenge appears. It's lame.

[–]MikeH7186 32 points33 points  (9 children)

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ

[–]Melee93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ it’s Jason Borne

[–]bigdwb1024 16 points17 points  (11 children)

There's lots of pluses about this title most of them mentioned already in this so I'll stick to the negatives. Activision turning off share play is bullshit. Some of the get there challenges involved in the trophies are insane. And the multiplayer suite just isn't up to par for a 2020 game. No private lobbies. But other than that I'm happy in the challenges should keep me busy for a very very long time

[–]theblackfool 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Personally I see the hard trophies as a positive. They are hard in a rewarding way but not in a shitty way. It's extra incentive to get good.

[–]bigdwb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed... I'm 'Getting There'!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They turned off shareplay, too? I hadn’t realized that. What assholes.

[–]PerryDigital 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Why in the holy hell can't you replay the career goals with each skater? I loved trying to get as many things in two minutes as I went through with each skater, getting better. Somewhat ruining the experience for me. I collect skate once and that's the end of it forever? Just the option would have been nice. That's how it worked. It's an utterly fantastic remaster aside from removing the bit I was really looking forward to. My face dropped when I'd already done all the challenges once and now they're done with everyone.

[–]srbman98 430 10 points11 points  (6 children)

They added that as "speed runs" in the free skate mode. There's a leaderboard and everything.

[–]PerryDigital 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I've just had a go at this and it's not the same either. The timer counts up and is unlimited. I liked trying to do a level in two minutes, or trying to see how many I could get as I went on.

[–]StarfighterProx 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Would it be a workaround to make a new custom skater or do all customs share one set of goals?

[–]PerryDigital 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I haven't tried a custom skater yet, but the way it's set up I can only imagine they're all done for every skater including those.

I think I just loved picking a new skater when I turned it on and going for all the goals. That's the bit that's gone.

[–]Goondragon1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's not even something I would have thought of. That's a bummer. I used to love doing the same thing.

[–]PerryDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bummer, my friend. Right way to describe it.

[–]PerryDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got to go back with the other skaters anyway and collect shit and do the other challenges. I'm glad there's a specific mode for it, but I just wanted to do it how I used to. It feels a little less pointed going to each level with everything ticket off.

I dunno. I just liked how I used to do it. Additional modes are good. I don't like removing ways.

I liked having to do it with every skater and slowly work through it all.

[–]toltonjc 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Am I the only one disappointed by the fact that we can’t reset the career mode for different skaters? It seems odd that no one is talking about this.

[–]Yamis1brother 37 points38 points  (6 children)

So this is my first Tony Hawk game ever. And I have to say it's so much fun.

This is the first game in a very long time where I have fun getting better at the game because I genuinely want to get better at it, rather than forcing myself.

While I'm not sure how this game compares to the originals, nor do I fully understand the game's mechanics, I can still say I'm having a lot of fun.

Oddly enough this game brings me back to the early 2000s when I played a game on the OG Xbox called Amped 2.

The only criticisms I have are that you need to collect stat points to make yourself better, turning on the ground to reposition yourself is wonky, and the backdrop options in create a park are limited.

[–]PM_DOLPHIN_PICS 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I played a lot as a kid but I was never an expert. I started off terrible at the remake but within a matter of hours I was doing tricks I thought impossible at the beginning. I've played for a solid 15 hours so far and I'm still constantly improving. Getting better at this game feels so rewarding compared to almost every other game I've played. It's great to watch your own skill grow over time.

[–]ironyalways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny how the muscle memory comes back. For me it took a while. I was fighting it, a lot of skate 1-3 lingering. Then I pulled a blunt slide in the middle of a combo, totally out of my ass completely unintentionally. Used to be my favorite grind in the first few games and my brain had totally forgotten it, but my hands hadn’t. Awesome and weird all at the same time.

[–]captnchunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loved Amped. Hoping the success of thps pushes either an Amped or Ssx remaster

[–]joper90 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Amped 2 is in my top 5 games ever, really underrated. Still have a physical copy.

[–]Yamis1brother 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same bro. That game was my childhood. I hope that this Tony Hawk remaster will bring back arcade extreme sports games like that back into the spotlight.

[–]joper90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So well balanced, and you could keep learning or just chill. So the same, bar I was in my late 20’s when it came out :)

[–]LaikasDad 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Police Truck and the sound of grinding rails, takes me back to my ps1 and highschool. Enjoy life kids, old age creeps up on ya quick.

[–]FeliciumOD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The censorship on that track is ridiculous now, lol. I think in the original they just removed a few words. They've now got an awkward edit of Jello singing "so suck on my street".

[–]mcrookedyMGN1990 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Playing this remaster is like seeing an old friend. The controls, the music and the gameplay are all intact but with enough quality-of-life improvements to make it feel new again (love that revert). Vicarious Visions hit a home run. I loved revisiting the Hangar from THPS2 and it was littered with posters of every Tony Hawk game which was a nice homage to Neversoft. I’m having such a blast with it.

[–]Jamesey90 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I can’t say this enough. But... FUCK that volcano jump. Took me a long time!

[–]meimode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really easy if you go back around and approach it from the other side and not off the ramp, got it my first try after countless failed attempts the other way

[–]Dem77777 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I said I don’t remember sucking this bad at Tony Hawk back in the day. My wife says “I don’t think you were ever that good.” 🙂

Then I busted out a 300k combo and said maybe it’s coming back to me.

Greatest remake remaster whatever I have played in a long time.

[–]MysticGrapefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. Similarily for me, said "wow I suck at this game", s/o simply replied with "the usual".

[–]thrawn-did-no-wrong 16 points17 points  (6 children)

The clunky UI is my only real complaint but on the other hand that somehow lends itself well to the nostalgia aspect so I really don't mind much. They absolutely nailed this in my opinion.

[–]srbman98 430 7 points8 points  (3 children)

You can toggle each of the UI elements on/off.

[–]thrawn-did-no-wrong 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I was referring more to how difficult it is to navigate.

[–]srbman98 430 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. That I can agree with. Menus on top of menus on top of menus.

And why are Gaps listed under Game Options and not under challenges or something?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, I had to look up a youtube video how to create a skater because I absolutely could not find it in the menus.

[–]captainb13 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Ui is terrible.

[–]Neg_CrepeNeg_Crepe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s terrible especially since the original games had simple good menus

[–]tajanstvenix 3 points4 points  (1 child)

To everyone who played any THPS at any point and loved it - do yourself a favor and buy the game.

This is what remaster should look and feel like. Hands down best remaster of this year if not even the last 5 years.

If you are returning to the game - you're in for a hell of a fun

If this is your first THPS - you're in for a hell of a fun

Challenges are my favorite new thing they added. Basically the game keeps the track of everything you're doing and you complete the challenges which allow you to unlock slots for special tricks, new boards, clothes etc.

It might sound a bit grindy and honestly it is but it is so fun to play the game. Don't get me wrong, you can complete and 100% both games (campaign/story) without 'grinding'.

Multiplayer is also cool addition, it works without any problem and it really tests your skill against other players.

Overall - great arcade skating game where everything is up to the skills of the player. The Dark Souls of sport games.

[–]KraKaTak420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this game.

[–]PRE_-CISION-_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just like the original this is probably going to be one of my favorite games of all time. It's absolutely the peak of remakes.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (11 children)

Is it worth the cost of entry? Loved the original games and was pleasantly surprised by the $40 price tag, but I still feel like I should wait for a sale

[–]JonBonIver 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I sprung for the digital deluxe edition and I don’t regret it at all. The game is worth every penny imo

[–]ChasingDownTheWolves 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I bought the digital deluxe edition also... but I can't even remember what it gives you extra? I would recommend the regular edition to people

[–]Of_Silent_Earth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ripper character, a couple retro outfits, and some extra create a park stuff.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are two full games worth of levels, and challenges that’ll put you to the test. You can also do speed runs, and it has multiplayer (though not private lobbies, sadly). With a bunch of skaters each having their own challenges, and a Create a Park that will keep new arenas coming, there is a lot of content for that $40.

If you like the formula it’s a great package.

[–]DaBarnRazah 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It depends how much you loved the originals. I liked them but wasn’t really good. I’m much better at it now than back then and I’ll play about an hour or so and switch to something else. I don’t regret spending $40 but I do think I could’ve waited for a sale.

[–]steegsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so. It’s very replayable.

“Just one more game...” haha

[–]dllemmr2TheLastLemming2 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What's your monthly disposable income? We need a frame of reference.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well... I really don’t need to wait for a sale, but it’s always a nice feeling to get a discount

[–]dllemmr2TheLastLemming2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't torture yourself too long unless you have a backlog. :)

[–]Bilski1ski 12 points13 points  (7 children)

The trophy guides online don’t even have a difficulty rating yet because seemingly no one has finished it. Never seen that before in a guide Looking over some of the challenges it looks insanely difficult for a platinum. There’s one that’s get 10 million points in 2 minutes. Others include do 10 thousand flip and grab tricks

[–]bigdwb1024 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those trophies are not the issues if you look online you'll see that lots of people have achieved those already. the "get there" trophies are going to be the issue

[–]srbman98 430 5 points6 points  (3 children)

The only difficult trophy is the Get Theres.

For the 10 million points, you can use a custom park and get the trophy in seconds.

[–]shinikahn 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What are the get there's?

[–]srbman98 430 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're challenges for each level where you need to chain together 4-5 gaps in a single combo.

Some aren't too bad, like in Hangar where you need to pop out of the halfpipe, onto the lights, and grind around to the perpendicular light. Others are a pain and could take hundreds of tries depending on how good you are.

[–]TomdreTheGiant 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Some trophies are bugged for me too. I got the 100 percent trophy for tony hawk 2 but the first one never popped. A few others too. What a drag.

[–]Masterkytain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you use the mods at the competitions by any chance? If you did, try doing them again without the mods. It helped me anyway...

[–]fungilingus 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I’m wondering how newcomers are taking to this game. THPS kept building on new tricks as the series went on with manuals, reverts, wallrides etc. And with all that included here the game seems to have a steep learning curve at this point. Either way this game is a classic

[–]Vergilkilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the information age the average video game player is sort of amazing, really. People look up guides, youtube, etc. and become proficient at their games at a rate much faster than ever before.

[–]MysticGrapefruit 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I'm outta the loop, why all the really low scores?

I'm enjoying it, exactly what I expected. The best THPS in a while no doubt. Nice that it's not full price too. Only thing I'm hoping is they add more multiplayer modes.

[–]Nilbogin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it’s the internet something like 24 people gave it a 1 lol probably because they can’t find that last letter in SKATE

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's good to be back! What a game. I'm certainly not great at the game, but it's so much fun. Now do it again for THUG 1+2 please. GOTY for me so far. Just one more run.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So glad I had a 3 day weekend upon release. I've already put ~15 hours in (which is insane for me). Already unlocked all the characters.

I was really disappointed how dull the reward was for collecting all the VV symbols.

Only other disappointment has been the lack of online HORSE/SKATE since the opportunities for local coop are extremely few and far between during this pandemic.

I also think there needs to be an audio option to prevent the music volume from constantly changing based on performance. It's an alright idea, but I'd rather just listen to the music normally while I play - which is why I've opted to listen to a THPS1-4 playlist on Spotify.

[–]StarfighterProx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think there needs to be an audio option to prevent the music volume from constantly changing based on performance.

Agreed 100%. It's a super cool effect but sometimes I just want to jam out without the changes.

[–]PeacefulAnxeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I played was on N64 I’m loving this! Wow the detail updates

[–]NazhoxNazhiox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to play it, hope better times come soon so I can purchase it! Only reading other players experience got me really hyped!

[–]pedrobeara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

love the game but the menu navagation blows

[–]nos8463nostram8463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, my brain needed a few minutes to adjust to the 4k before I truly started recognizing things. That being said, as soon as I skated around the warehouse a few times it all started coming back, and landing in the room to get the secret tape was what put me back to high school

[–]Metapher13 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I suck at it! Took hours to get 200k on Downhill Jam and I can't for the life of me get better than bronze on Competitions, but man I am enjoying this game. The originals, 2 especially, were fantastic back in the day, and this feels exactly like it should for a modern version of that. They've successfully captured the essence of it while adding so many good things from later games. Although I am not as in love with the soundtrack now as back then, it's still need to get to hear Powerman 5000 while skating as old man Hawk.

I haven't even done half of what's available yet since I suck and am still doing THPS1 stuff, but I can't wait till I sit down with the level editor and other people's levels!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to not worry too much about the 'sick' scores, rather just focus on grabbing the stat points from each level to max out of your character. It'll make it so much easier. (Also, I agree about the soundtrack, it's a fun nostalgia trip but after a bit I'm usually pretty eager to mute it in exchange for some new music. I wish there were more tracks added to prevent the repetition. Or maybe it just means I'm playing too much...).

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Amazing remake. We need individual game modes online though. I would like to play horse with a group of my friends without using share play or having to have them travel to my house to play locally.

[–]KraKaTak420 2 points3 points  (1 child)

horse was my favorite and in was a little upset there was no category for it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is for local multiplayer

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand why they wouldn't do HORSE online with randoms - considering you know people would be quitting anytime someone displayed a far superior skill. But I hope if/when they add custom lobbies that they'll consider making a HORSE option.

Since Local MP is hard to come by during this pandemic, I'd love a way to play HORSE with my brother.

[–]fartingmaniac 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sorry if this was already asked. Does anybody know if they’ll be adding a feature (or maybe I’ve missed it) to turn off auto kick. Auto kick is great for high scoring combos, which I love! But one of my favorite things to do back in the day with friends was to turn off auto kick and play SKATE, sort of like real life. Call out tricks and the whole deal. For example, it’s really difficult to do a nollie big heel to fakie on a little pyramid when you’re going full speed all the time. Obviously, most people don’t play this way so I get it, but they did have it as a feature in some of the other THPS games. It’s just nice to be able to finely adjust your speed. With that said - overall, great game and I’m having a blast!

[–]meimode 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just hold back on the left stick and you'll slow down/stop

[–]fartingmaniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is not so much stopping but speed control. Not sure if you’ve ever disabled auto kick on any other THPS games, but what it does it add a kick/push button. On PS, this would typically be the square button. So you still hold X to crouch and Ollie, but while holding X you will tap square as needed to kick (or push) to get speed. Each tap allows you to adjust you speed by a discrete amount (i.e., kick as many times as you need to get the desired speed you’re hoping to achieve or until you’ve reached max speed). Whereas if auto-kick is off, holding X automatically takes you to your max speed.

[–]Of_Silent_Earth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CO! RUP! TION! AND IT GROWS! THE SALESMEN OF OUR BLOOD!

Man I haven't heard most if these songs in 15+ years but as soon as they play it's like I heard them yesterday.

[–]TheNurgrabber 2 points3 points  (3 children)

This game has great bones. I hope they decide to build on it and offer thps 3 and 4 as paid dlc because right now it's a bit light on content. I had a fun time reliving pieces of my childhood but I feel like additional goals would not have been a stretch. Overall happy with the gameplay but I don't know how much I'll go back to it after one weekend. I would also like to go online with a split screen partner.

[–]moonshinemondays 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I thought it has loads of additional goals?

[–]StarfighterProx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, TONS. I completely disagree with the other guy.

After I 100%ed the goals for THPS 1 I thought the game was going to run out of content pretty quick. But then I dug deeper (in the Challenges menu) and found LOADS of additional things to try out and aim for. There are some really tough ones in there, too, especially between platinum scores and "get there" lines. Oh, and each skater has their own set of goals.

There's a mountain of stuff to do and way more challenges/goals than most people will ever be able to complete.

[–]moonshinemondays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought I heard. Don't know what the other guy is on about. Waiting for pay day so I can buy it

[–]therealmrkrispy 3 points4 points  (6 children)

It's an 8/10 for me. Super solid just wish it had all the original songs from the first two games in lieu of the new songs. I also wish they had new footage of the original skaters instead of the same clips we've had since THPS4. I know they had a reunion at theberrics that you can see on youtube so it was probably an issue of timing. Just wanted to see them still going at it even if it's simple tricks.

[–]FeliciumOD 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I think they're only missing 3 songs from the originals. Which one(s) are you bummed out about?

I'm guessing they got everything they could, they picked up a few more from earlier this year, when the list of missing tracks was longer. Glad they got Cyco Vision in the end.

[–]therealmrkrispy 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It’s just I would’ve preferred the set list be untouched. B-boy document, committed, etc. The new songs aren’t bad it’s just I wanted the originals without having to turn on Spotify.

[–]StarfighterProx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't you disable songs in the soundtrack, thus recreating like 95% of the original soundtrack experience?

[–]FeliciumOD 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Agreed. Given how close they made it in the end, I assume every reasonable attempt was made. Can't imagine what the issue would be for something like Committed, though. High demands, maybe.

I do wish they used the original censorship, though (or, obviously, uncensored). The way they do it by sticking another random almost rhyming word (often out of key) from the song in sounds atrocious in some cases.

[–]therealmrkrispy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPEAKING OF that was another thing I wish they’d done. Add the option for uncensored songs. But that’s probably jack the rating up to M. Still would’ve been cool. I’m just saying having the complete soundtracks in the game would’ve made it better in my opinion. A huge part of the games have always been the soundtrack.

These weren’t games I grew up with, the only Tony Hawk games I played growing up were Proving Ground on the Nintendo DS, and THPS 5, and we all know how that went. When I heard the news about the remakes I was excited as I have spent years listening to my favorite youtubers reflect on their memories with the game, and now I finally get to experience what was so good. I pre ordered it and got access to the warehouse demo, and I was..... indifferent. I didn’t know the controls and I wasn’t good at all, so I finally gave up and decided to wait until the full game came out and it did, and I was frustrated. There was such a good game there, but I was so bad at it I couldn’t fully enjoy it. But I’ve spent days practicing and getting better at it, and I’m finally starting to get the hang of things and I’m really really enjoying my time with it. It’s challenging, but not unfair. I’m having to force myself to get good, and it’s really fun.

I’m having a lot of fun playing through this without mods. It can get very hard but it’s satisfying when you finally get it.

A+

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite remake so far. I got nostalgia for Crash, Resident Evil 2 and others, but this game hits a spot nothing else has and maybe ever will.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I want this game so bad.

[–]Mattgx082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very good

[–]chrisaf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it bro! I was hesitant at first but decided "what the f".

Best gaming decision I have made in years. If you grew up playing the originals...you will absolutely love this!

[–]NugPacino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To bad I can’t party up with anybody & the multiplayer is a bit off. Other than dope game I’m loving it

[–]DrBaldingMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered it off of GameStop 3 days ago with express shipping and it has yet to even leave the facility. Can't get here soon enough

[–]Stuntm4nMik3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not played a THPS game since Proving Ground and this just feels amazing. The controls, the look, the feel, everything. Amazing remake.

[–]EnterTheGoldenAge 0 points1 point  (5 children)

We can all agree that's it's a brilliant remake.

That said, why can't I do free skate online with my buddy? Or compete against each other? No private lobbies? WTF?

I hope they add this stuff because that was a major letdown for me.

[–]KraKaTak420 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I thought you can send invites to your friends so you can play online together? if not that sucks

[–]EnterTheGoldenAge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play online together, but you're also playing with randoms. No way to play privately with your friends right now.

[–]devranog 0 points1 point  (2 children)

they announced its coming in the next month or so

The split screen multiplayer in this game is borderline unplayable, such a disappointment

[–]KraKaTak420 1 point2 points  (1 child)

haven't tried split screen what is the main issue?

[–]TheThreeEyedSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abysmal frame rate, such a shame

[–]Cheap-Nefariousness9 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Venice beach is annoying but other then that it’s a beautiful game with high replay values

[–]KraKaTak420 1 point2 points  (3 children)

My least favorite park

[–]SuperCronk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Downhill jam straight up sux

[–]meimode 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Downhill jam was one of my favorites!!

[–]Nilbogin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get some gnarly flows going on downhill jam

[–]KraKaTak420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found all 4 transfers in that park I can't find 1 of them. I got the 1 near the beach (near venice grind rail) and the 1 near the first Ollie bum, and I got the 1 that jumps over the locker room or whatever kind of building it is but can't find the last 1

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to do 2-min sessions on other people's CAP maps? I only seem to be able to do free skate in them.

[–]lakerswizlakerswiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game was done well, but it's definitely a quick one if you've played it before.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody else playing THPS1 with the THPS1 controls and soundtrack? Then obeying THPS2 with THPS2 controls and soundtrack?

[–]MarioMoon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anyone got a special move set? I made a character, and I have no idea what my specials are..or even the main characters? I get my special up, but not sure what buttons to hit.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pause the game, go to the skater tab, and look at your tricks

[–]THE-73est 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to get 10 million points on a classic level trophy. The best I have done is 5 million, but I bailed on the second long combo, but still only project 7-9 million on that run. I'm doing it on warehouse. Any tips?

[–]chrisaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit me right in the feels when I started playing!

This is exactly what remakes/remasters should be.

They kept the original feel and improved nearly everything they could.

This is the first game I bought on release in years, as I want them to remaster the sequels as well and after seeing how well it was trying out, I had to!

[–]JamesMaysLawnMower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished Grey was Here, forgot you could manual until now. It’s been 3 hours, I’m an idiot

[–]Pizza_Squeegee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love how they added some new songs that still fit the game perfectly

[–]ChaneroChanerooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing yesterday and damn. The gameplay, the nostalgia rush, that was awesome as hell.

Also, I'm surprised to see my skills untouched... as in, I still skate like shit.

[–]HoopaOrGilgamesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where's online Free Skate?

[–]cecemeliusEnter PSN ID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way the pandemic has been treating me financially I probably only have funds for one more game this year, should I save up for this? My only experience with a Tony Hawk game was that Underground 2 PSP game and I remember being so fond of it that the announcement for this game had me very excited. But with what else that's coming up I don't know if I want to commit saving money for this. How's the replayability? I've heard there's loads to unlock? How is Create a Park? Are there perhaps older (and cheaper) PS4 Tony Hawk games that are worth getting? Thank you for replying!

[–]KraKaTak420 0 points1 point  (1 child)

where is officer dick?

[–]ICantBeTrustedGarryhomieD 8 14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get like 100% completion or do all the challenges to unlock him.

[–]savannahwithnoh 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does this game make anyone else motion sick? I’ve never had another game make me feel nauseous while playing it and it really bums me out because I can only play maybe 30 minutes at a time before I have to step away to settle myself. If you do get motion sick while playing is there anything you find that helps you out?

[–]Lobbylounger212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with this game, but I do get that feeling with Minecraft. I can’t play it for more than an hour max.

Yeaaaah loving it. But I had to turn off ‘bails’ otherwise it’s unplayable for me.
