Netflix not having a built-in rating system is really infuriating Netflix not having a built-in rating system is really infuriating

I’m always looking for new shows to watch, but without any kind of in-app ratings I have no idea if a particular show is good or not. I could be jumping into my next new obsession, or an absolute waste of time. Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic are fine, but not always reliable, and I shouldn’t have to go outside the app to know how a show is being reviewed.

It works exceedingly well on Steam where users give games a thumbs up or thumbs down (no numerical scores), and it shows you what percentage of reviews were positive. It’s always been a great indicator of how good a game is, and the same system was basically already in place on Netflix until they removed it after Amy Schumer’s special was (rightfully) review bombed.

They need to bring user ratings back. Tell us what percentage of viewers enjoyed the show so we can make more informed decisions on what shows to start.

Parasyte: the Grey(not bad for a non-anime fan) Parasyte: the Grey(not bad for a non-anime fan)

After watching baby reindeer, I went into a completely different direction and binged parasyte.

I’ve seen the original anime before years ago with an ex of mine so I was vaguely familiar with the lore. Gotta say the Netflix adaptation was a fun little watch.

It was not perfect. I feel like for the six episodes we are given, it was rushed in some parts and drug in others. On paper all the characters ideally seem good but on the flip side there are so many characters with so few episodes that it doesn’t give time for you to get to know and develop them. Which results in a lot of TELLING and not showing.

The visuals and the fight scenes are amazing. The political twists and turns that happen keep you guessing. I definitely never was bored.

I will say while rushes at times, it is a good balance in respecting the anime it is based off of and being easy enough to digest for people knew to the world.

Six episodes that go fairly quick, it’s a good watch and I hope if there is a season 2, we get a little more character building.

All in all a proper 7 out of 10
