![r/gaming - TIL EA made a LOTR turn-based RPG](http://web.archive.org./web/20240501125714im_/https://preview.redd.it/til-ea-made-a-lotr-turn-based-rpg-v0-09gn3mcd8kic1.jpeg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=3fbd8815f5d4afcce3bae3a991f4324aa7a68970)
Obviously, players care a lot about customization and making their character look they way they want, and of course things like hair color and facial structure should be completely customizable. But I think these games would be much more engaging if your character’s physical body matched the physical attributes they have. I don’t really like it when you have one character who is this big muscular character, but they have a low strength because they are a wizard, but then you have a petite Paladin character with maxed strength.
I feel like this breaks the immersion of these games, because in addition to your own character’s not making sense, you can’t even use your own eyes and logic to determine if an NPC has a high strength or not.
Here’s how it should be: no strength = no muscles; no muscles = no strength. Big muscles = big strength, big strength = big muscles.
Now with Starfield existing as it does...
I can't help but imagine the same thing, but with a pirate theme.
Making your own pirate, becoming a captain, sailing the seas.
battling seamonsters, raiding merchant vessels for loot, fighting off other pirates or the navy (British or fantasy based).
Add in some class systems and maybe some fantasy magic stuff and it would be amazing.
I am just saying, it feels as if "pirate games" very underutilized in todays market and it is kinda annoying.
ANd while YES, we do have pirate games, Sea of Thieves, Skull and bones (kinda) and Pillars of erenity...
Both Sea of Thieves and Skull and bones are multiplayer + sandbox, rather than RPGs with very surface level world interaction...
And pillars of eternity 2: Deadfire (A game I ADORE) is both slightly old nowadays as well as a CRPG... combined with the fact that piracy is far from the main focus of the game.
I just want something that scratches that particular itch, but nothing really manages and it is so frustrating.
The biggest subreddit for leaks and rumours in the gaming community, for all games across all systems.
I would truly love an earthbound RPG
