The 2024 GWM is just as good, if not better, than it was in 2014 The 2024 GWM is just as good, if not better, than it was in 2014
One D&D

With the embargo dropping we now know what the new Great Weapon Master feat does: +1 to Strength, you can add your Proficiency Bonus to damage rolls of ALL attacks with a heavy weapon made with your Attack action, and if you kill a creature with a melee weapon, you can make an additional attack with a bonus action.

This bonus damage more than makes up for the loss of -5/+10 features, GWM is now a half-feat AND it can be used with longbows and heavy crossbows. Considering this, the buffs to fighter and barbarian and weapon masteries, melee two-handers are in an incredible place power-wise.

One D&D

I've had access to the new 2024 Player's Handbook for several weeks now, and the press embargo has finally lifted. So, for anyone who's thinking of investing in the new core rules, I wanted to share my review: www.wargamer.com/dnd/2024-players-handbook-review

This review is based on several hours of playing, as well as several MORE hours studying the text (my notes are literally 10,000 words long, five times longer than the review itself).

Are you planning to pick up a copy of the new book? What are your first impressions based on everything that Wizards of the Coast has revealed so far?
