She wanted to announce she was standing almost 2 weeks ago, but was upstaged by the Tory leadership race. She finally took the plunge today and decided to launch her campaign, but now she's been upstaged for a second time by Leadsom. She just can't catch a break.

It is widely being reported tonight that Angela Eagle will launch a leadership bid tomorrow afternoon. Interesting to see if is representative of the movement as a whole.

So after much speculation it appears that there will be a challenge to Corybn's leadership of the party.

She comes across pretty crap to me. You would think if the PLP were going to put someone up against Jeremy Corbyn they would have the nous to pick someone more impressive than Angela Eagle.
As a neutral who is in it for the spectacle, I have to say the Labour party is the gift that keeps on giving.

Whatever your views on her, that was bloody awkward watching all the journalists flee in the background of her leadership speech in order to get to the Leadsom resignation speech. Like a cringe inducing moment from the thick of it.

This is pure speculation, but if roughly this time last year we saw Angela Eagle running as a possible deputy leader - and also saw her lose - why does she now think she can challenge Corbyn? Is she on crack?
I have mixed feelings about Corbyn and didn’t vote for him in the leadership election last year, but I think this attempted coup has been ill-conceived for one thing and for another, I would never have Eagle as the leader over Corbyn and I suspect many other people think the same - so what, literally, is the point in her making this challenge?
But more importantly, if Corbyn is being challenged, where is someone like Yvette Cooper in this? Wouldn’t she be a far more obvious candidate for challenger than Eagle?
Is there some strategy I’m not seeing here and Eagle has put herself forward as a strategic feint, while the real attack is going to come in from some other direction? I just don’t get it.
Any thoughts?
