Obviously Jackson Jobe wasn’t the overall preferred player that Tigers fans wanted. I think a majority of us wanted Mayer, especially since none of us expected him to actually be there at No. 3 overall. I see a lot of slander towards Al, but do you think Hinch had any say in the decision to take Jobe? The Tigers look like they have a legit catcher, 1st/3rd baseman and an outfielder already. That doesn’t include Baddoo, Rodgers or Candy if you want to consider him young too. A young SS would be nice, but you also have to fill that spot for another 2-4 years before Mayer even sniffs the majors. If Hinch had any say towards this draft, do you think he realizes that and opted to go for luxury and potential with Jobe rather than hope Mayer makes it to the show in 2-3 years? We also can hope that Hinch already knows they plan on spending money on a starting SS this off-season and it made sense to draft another arm for the rotation or trade bait later on than a SS who you wouldn’t need if you sign someone to a 5 year contract.
Edit: I want to make it clear I don’t like Al and I think he should had been fired a long time ago. I just can’t imagine Hinch not having any say in this decision
