Morey prob doesn’t even hug his wife or kids like that lmao

[–]Akroma14 3781 points3782 points  (90 children)

Maybe he would if they had a point differential like Harden does

[–]Thundertopofthecc 1032 points1033 points  (89 children)

And stopped taking so many inefficient midrange jumpers.

[–][TOR] Antonio DavisTinysauce 554 points555 points  (86 children)

Only 60% of Daryl Jr's attempts to eat a piece of broccoli are successful because he places the broccoli on top of the fork instead of stabbing it with the fork. Hard to love your own kid when he's just that inefficient with his food.

[–]Slobbin 212 points213 points  (84 children)

Fuck it. It's r/NBA, but it was brought up, so whatever.

For those with kids that eat their vegetables:

How? How do you get them to eat them?

And if your kid "just eats them lol I'm lucky" I don't wanna hear that shit.

[–]76ersmeditate42 65 points66 points  (3 children)

When i was a little kid my aunts tricked me into thinking frozen peas were some kind of treat, it worked for like a week. You could try that.

[–]RaptorsJhah41 51 points52 points  (1 child)

My parents convinced me I didn't like chocolate. I was 17 before I realized they were full of shit

[–]San Diego ClippersEthanPhotography 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Parents just trying to help you get your grindset up🤷‍♂️

[–]ShindouRomm 84 points85 points  (9 children)

I've got two of em one older and one very little, the older one ate them without questioning his whole life and the other would prefer waterboarding than eating vegetables, the only time he eats them without a fullblown meltdown is if everyone else is eating it and there are no other options for anything in sight.

[–]inerlite 46 points47 points  (5 children)

I toss a bag of mixed veg into Rice a Roni Broccoli Cheddar and cook it all together. Pretty good and it maskes the veggies.

[–]ShindouRomm 28 points29 points  (4 children)

He does love cheese maybe I'll give it a shot. We've tried a few different mixes but he'll suck them clean and leave the vegetables or just stop trying once he finds something.

We've generally tried to avoid cooking different foods in general for the kids than what we eat typically but might have to resort to it eventually.

[–]ThunderLimitlessTheTVShow 21 points22 points  (4 children)

I'm not a parent, but I've heard that a good way to get kids to eat veggies is by example. So like before giving them a plate with veggies on it, have your plate and eat some in front of them and make a point to talk about how good they are

Dunno how well it works from personal experience, just secondhand. Hopefully it helps

[–]Slobbin 12 points13 points  (2 children)

That sounds like it's worth a try, we'll give that a shot, thanks.

[–]76ersbyzantinebasilisk 19 points20 points  (2 children)

It comes down to texture in my experience, they only want certain veggies prepared in a certain way because of texture

[–]HeatAllNinjas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Also keep trying difference veggies with spices involved. There's a lot of food in the world and the worst thing you can do for a child is forcing them down their throat that you know they don't like over and over without attempting to try something different just because you deem it necessary

[–]BullsFletch71011 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He needs to roast them. Roasted vegetables are all pretty good.

[–]PistonsNetflixAndNikah 169 points170 points  (5 children)

Remember when Houston let go of Morey and he said he was gonna step away from GMing for a bit to spend time with his family...only to land a GM role in Philadelphia a month later lmao

[–]gxor_bbq_football 138 points139 points  (0 children)

TBF he did have a month off. That’s a lot of time to be stuck with your family.

[–]TW_Yellow78 34 points35 points  (1 child)

He thought he could trade for Harden then. But Fertita refused because he only let Morey out of his contract believing Morey really was going to retire (and save money by voiding the contract).

[–]RaptorsAdmiralG2 209 points210 points  (0 children)

“It’s not the same without that big fluffy beard against my chest” 😔

[–]76ersVyxtic 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Question: are you and other Rockets fans rooting for the Sixers to succeed, or rooting against them for the way Harden went nuclear to get out of Houston?

[–][deleted] 736 points737 points  (63 children)

A minority doesn’t like him anymore, but most of us wanna see him winning a title. Now that he’s back with Morey i think even more will. His exit wasn’t professional at all, nobody denies that. However we knew why he wanted out, and Tilman was a big reason for it. We should’ve traded him in the offseason, it didn’t happen, so it became dramatic.

[–][HOU] Kevin Porter JrFew_Mulberry7175 332 points333 points  (19 children)

Tbh I feel Harden might get even more support from Rockets fans now cause he's not longer on the Nets

Obviously if the Nets crumble then the Harden trade picks are insanely valuable but they got a young star in Ben Simmons which hurts as he will be good in 2026/27

[–][BOS] Kevin GarnettPaleontologistFluid9 141 points142 points  (13 children)

tbh there's a chance that everyone wins here: the sixers are good right now and win a title with harden and embiid, the nets are trash in the short-term so the picks they sent to the rockets are valuable, and the nets reload around simmons and are good again in a couple years.

OK I guess everyone wins in this scenario except Kevin Durant.

[–][HOU] Kevin Porter JrFew_Mulberry7175 66 points67 points  (4 children)

Yea the Nets did well the only thing that really hurts is building that duo in your same division imo

[–]Supersonicsgartho009 21 points22 points  (2 children)

And Kevin Durant has already done his share of winning. Hard to feel too bad for the only one of them with two rings

[–]string2442 71 points72 points  (5 children)

It’s funny how most of the people who hold Harden’s exit from Houston against him aren’t Rockets fans.

Dude gave his all to the Rockets throughout his prime, and he only left because of terrible decisions made by new ownership. Similar situation with Brooklyn, he was fully invested playing at a super high level last year, and only wants out because of Kyrie’s antics making it clear that winning a championship isn’t his top priority

[–]Tampa Bay RaptorsMrGrieves- 32 points33 points  (1 child)

Yeah anyone who says otherwise isn't a real fan and can get fucked.

Harden was an iron man who regularly played 36+ minutes FOR YEARS. He gave it all to win in Houston.

[–]Rocketsgrandmasterfunk 66 points67 points  (10 children)

I really can't blame Harden. Tilman almost had me ready to jump ship from the Rockets. I'm doubtful we can ever win with him as the owner.

[–]Docxm 51 points52 points  (5 children)

Bad owners are literally the worst thing that can happen to a team, and the worst things about the NBA

[–][PHI] Dario ŠarićEaglesPvM 107 points108 points  (16 children)

Reading all these answers from Rocket fans makes me happy. You guys are more than welcome on the bandwagon and at r/Sixers

[–]RocketsControlRogue 53 points54 points  (4 children)

Been there since Morey was hired

[–]RocketsBlue_bell88 63 points64 points  (2 children)

I'll definitely be rooting for them. I'll always be a James Harden fan

[–]WarriorsTrainedExplains 35 points36 points  (1 child)

He left in a shitty and unprofessional way, but he also killed himself for Houston for a decade. Good to see Houston fans are properly blaming Fertitta and supporting the guy who put more into their franchise than anyone except Hakeem and maybe Rudy. I can’t imagine what I’d do if Steph left us, but he’s our guy and we’d support him anyway.

[–]RocketsBlue_bell88 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (3 children)

Get a ring.

Embiid and Harden are generationally great offensively.

This is the year… rooting for y’all

[–]LakersHi_My_Name_Is_Dave 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The best scoring guard and the best scoring big man of our generation

[–]Rocketsray_0586 89 points90 points  (5 children)

I’m mentally preparing myself for Harden and Morey to get another another shot and finally get over the hump against the Warriors in the NBA Finals. Expecting a multitude of emotions to flood over me. Rooting for them will probably win out.

[–]76ersIncepticons 41 points42 points  (1 child)

Joel is pretty fun to root for too, come to the troll side

[–]Rocketswarmcakes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Harden is the fucking man lol and the fit with Embiid is just crazy good in theory. Health permitting it should fantastic and I'll probably start watching some Sixers games. Mostly because the current Rockets iteration is noncompetitive, and who knows how long that'll last with Fertitta.

And for me personally I don't hold anything against Harden because I don't think any of his career decisions have been diva-like. When it became clear our new owner wasn't going to fund another championship push, the only way for anybody who wanted to win was out. Ditto with the Kyrie/injured KD circus. It all makes sense from a career perspective.

But Embiid is basically the guy we always wished Harden could play with. James can score with any kind of guard play and he can also provide any kind of playmaking for an elite big. Couple that with the emotional value of basically the old core duo of Harden/Morey competing together again and I think Philly will pick up a lot of casual support from Houston.

[–]Rocketsyukeynuh 51 points52 points  (1 child)

lol any rockets fan who hates harden can go fuck themselves. while his departure wasn’t perfect, he gave us nearly 10 years. im for sure gonna tune in to sixers games, im very excited to see what harden embiid’s gonna look like

[–]RocketsSSJBlueManny 64 points65 points  (17 children)

I’ll always love Harden. We knew our team sucked after the failed Russ experiment so I’m not mad he left or the way he did it. You gotta do what you gotta do. It clearly works since he’s done it twice, but that’s neither here nor there. My point is yes I’m rooting for the Sixers to win it all for him to at least get one ring.

[–][HOU] Trevor Arizatonypearcern 34 points35 points  (1 child)

The former 100%. Also, not many Houston fans feel like Harden did anything wrong. We all knew what a piece of shit Tillman was even before he became the owner, so it was no surprise to see the coach, GM, and star player abandon ship at the same time.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I rooted against harden after he left the first year… then got over it and only rooted against nets for our picks by the second year

Now I’m really rooting for him on the sixers. Our boy deserves this… he’s been thru enough.

Htown and him will always have a connection

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Definitely more inclined to root for him now that he is off the Nets. Need to Nets to be shit for draft picks, plus fuck super teams.

[–]Vancouver GrizzliesCaNANDian 95 points96 points  (2 children)

A whole 2 times...

[–]WizardsFrancis_Picklefield 70 points71 points  (1 child)

If I had a nickel for every time Harden and Morey were on the same team, I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

[–]WarriorsDunderdoreClarissian 37 points38 points  (6 children)

Are Rockets fans gonna be 6ers fans too rn? Coz that would be dope af

[–][HOU] Kevin Porter JrFew_Mulberry7175 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I will cheer for Harden yea

Me personally I've always loved watching Embiid too since back in 2018 so im excited to fully start cheering for him

[–]RocketsDazhar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rooting the for the sixers feels much less dirty than rooting for the nets. I just want my favourite player and gm to finally get it done. Idc what team anymore. Also Embiid is dope so thats a bonus

[–]Australiainefekt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Always? They first teamed up at Houston. Now they are back together for the second time at Philly...that's two stints.

[–][HOU] Trevor Arizatonypearcern 590 points591 points  (23 children)

I really don't think people understand how determined Morey is to get a championship for Harden. Morey's said he feels like he failed Harden during their time in Houston, but I think Harden knows that no other GM could've done it better.

[–]76ersLocalSlob 372 points373 points  (20 children)

They really hit a wall in the west with Prime Durant/Curry/GSW. It was like watching Peyton Manning against Brady year in and year out.

[–]Pacerstcollins371 160 points161 points  (8 children)

Triggered but accurate honestly.

[–]76ersThe_Rhubarbarian 64 points65 points  (7 children)

Sorry about Wentz bud

[–]Pacerstcollins371 44 points45 points  (6 children)

Man I knew that was a bad move the second it happened but I tried to be optimistic as a fan of the team. Right when I was finally willing to give him a chance and think the team would at least be competitive……..Jacksonville happened.

I always forget how big Daryl Morey is until he's next to guys like James Harden. lol

[–]ub40fanatic 2431 points2432 points  (71 children)

Morey looks absolutely elated.

[–]76erspatoysakias 1827 points1828 points  (45 children)

He also looks like an absolute unit. NBA players usually make mortals look like midgets.

[–]ub40fanatic 712 points713 points  (13 children)

…I hadn’t even noticed that until you mentioned it. Today I learned that Morey is 6’4.

[–]Knicksmrbrinks 434 points435 points  (3 children)

He’d be even taller but his massive balls drag him down

[–]76ersDragonBank 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Actually it's the opposite. He's only 5'8 but stands atop his massive sack.

[–]Lakershighbrowshow 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Gotta have massive balls if you’re going to stand with Hong Kong

[–]VectorVictorious 17 points18 points  (3 children)

I was shocked way back when I found out Steve Nash was 6'3". I thought dude was like 5'10" but they let him play because of handling and passing skills.

[–]76ersAntique_Description9 807 points808 points  (11 children)

I didn’t even think about that he literally looks taller than Harden

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (3 children)

He’s real life 6’4” I think. Harden is nba 6’5” so they’re probably the same.

[–]76ershreterh 69 points70 points  (3 children)

[–]danielt5 49 points50 points  (7 children)

[–]WizardsLouisTheLobster 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Myers actually played for UCLA and was part of the 95 championship team

[–]NBAayending1 28 points29 points  (3 children)

And Sean Marks is as tall as KD.

[–][GSW] Jason RichardsonSpecCRA 83 points84 points  (1 child)

I, for one, am shocked that former basketball players are as tall as other basketball players.

[–]Rockets_boj 139 points140 points  (4 children)

I've met him once or twice, guy's a clean 6'3" at least

[–]RocketsLeBronIsATurtle 315 points316 points  (17 children)

Honestly he seems relieved, can't imagine how many years Ben Simmons has taken off this man's life

[–]Supersonicsyouguanbumen 172 points173 points  (13 children)

I don't know if it really was that stressful for him. He seems to have had the support from everyone in the Sixers to stick to his line.

[–]76ersAryaRemembers 154 points155 points  (10 children)

I think Embiid handled this all really well. If he were more shortsighted it could’ve made Morey’s life a lot harder

[–]DonChuBahnMi 116 points117 points  (5 children)

Without Embiid being so damn cooperative and understanding, it'd have never worked.

Embiid has been the absolute best mentally through all of this. I would love to see this pairing work and take it all the way.

This was a really well crafted comment.

[–]76ersflanneled_man 113 points114 points  (5 children)

[–]76ersshakehasbignuts 1441 points1442 points  (173 children)

You gotta love how a GM and a player have such a close relationship, it’s pretty cool.

[–]RocketsGluxion 1003 points1004 points  (42 children)

Morey believed in him. That means something to these guys, they remember shit like that

[–][MIN] D'Angelo Russellzmajxd 455 points456 points  (39 children)

lol, I mean he got picked 3rd. It's not like "nobody" believed in him.

[–][deleted] 261 points262 points  (14 children)

Yeah true. I’m sure most teams would’ve offered him a max in 2012

[–]MagicGamesgtd 154 points155 points  (13 children)

Literally every team would've maxed him but the Thunder. Even still OKC would've offered him a bag.

[–]Lakerschad12341296 188 points189 points  (3 children)

If every team would have maxed him then OKC would have probably gotten a way better trade than what they got.

[–]MagicGamesgtd 74 points75 points  (2 children)

Your assumption is that OKC thought they got uneven value for him. Kevin Martin was a proven scorer who they thought could just plug right in to the 6th man slot. Jeremy Lamb was a pretty good college guard that they believed could develop. Fact is they chose size over shot creation because they thought you could replace the shot creation and shot making easier with Martin and Lamb. They were wrong.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

More than that the thought was the ibaka coukd slow down lebron like Dhoward did in Orlando.

[–]Knickscherryripeswhore 50 points51 points  (7 children)

No way. He was very good but he was coming off the bench in OKC. I guarantee you the sentiment was "he's terrific, but can he do it as the lead guy". Not every team will take that risk

[–]HeatHybr1dThe0ry 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s how I remember it being, idk I could be wrong. Morey didn’t just believe in him being worth a max, but that he was a franchise number one option and there’s a big difference imo. He was also always gassing him up in the media, calling him the best offensive player ever and such, which GMs don’t publicly do

[–][MEM] Bonzi WellsJuventus19 52 points53 points  (4 children)

I sure wish the Grizzlies had believed in him instead of Thabeet

[–]NBADemarcusLovin 106 points107 points  (14 children)

Presti sure as shit didn’t. At least not as much as Morey did

[–]KnicksCraYzySaurous574 65 points66 points  (8 children)

Nah Presti probably would if the owner wasnt cheap af.

[–][SAS] Victor WembanyamaSnuggleMuffin42 40 points41 points  (7 children)

Presti could have still shipped Ibaka instead of Harden if push came to shove.

[–]fakename233 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Or just amnesty Perk and open up money without trading anyone else.

[–][deleted] 242 points243 points  (105 children)

It’s why I’m not worried about him “quitting” He quit on Fertitta and Kyrie. He never quit on Daryl once.

[–]76erstimidGO 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Morey wishes he knew how to quit Harden

[–]Nuggetsclancydog4 31 points32 points  (0 children)

one thing I really like about the Nuggets is how tight Tim Connelly is with all the players. ya hear about stuff like staying up all night with Jamal after he tore his ACL, and the way he and gary harris talk about each other even after being traded, and it makes a lot of sense why the nuggets "culture" is considered so highly in the league

[–]imhavingSoMuchFun3 20 points21 points  (17 children)

any loremasters wanna explain why they are so close?

[–]RaptorsAdmiralG2 70 points71 points  (13 children)

Okc traded away harden and morey believed in him and paid him. Not everyone had that vision in Harden, certainly not OKC considering they chose Ibaka over him.

[–]San Diego Clippersrinuxus 56 points57 points  (10 children)

it's worse than that, they chose Perkins!, they extended Perkins so there was no more money for Harden.

[–]bigbaconboypig 11 points12 points  (3 children)

should have used ibaka at center, or get some other cheap no name center off the street. all time dumb move!

[–]Rocketshawkish25 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I believe Harden was also consulted fairly extensively as a player. Not like LeGM levels obviously, but Morey did scope out Harden’s opinion on major deals.

[–]Spursdofun400 92 points93 points  (4 children)

Bring back D’Antoni next. It was meant to be.

[–]stertits 47 points48 points  (2 children)

How is Morey so tall?

[–]76erstimidGO 263 points264 points  (6 children)

Morey is 6'4 so he's literally only an inch shorter than Harden

idk he's not a former player so people think he's just some pudgy small dude

[–]76ersComeAtMeYo 115 points116 points  (5 children)

Harden is 6'5 in shoes, they're probably the same height actually

[–]76erstimidGO 96 points97 points  (1 child)

I thought people knew Morey was tall from the picture of him next to Doc and Elton Brand

All the people making fun of his analytics would never say it to his towering sigma male self in real life

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, here looks like Morey is taller now that Harden doesn't have his mohawk

[–]76ersTheSameAsDying 63 points64 points  (3 children)

[–]13Plath 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Morey not natty confirmed.

[–]RocketsZbrushgyu 424 points425 points  (2 children)

Brings a tear to my eye as a Rockets fan.

[–]RocketsThreeleggy 89 points90 points  (1 child)

Rockets are my second team, definitely rooting for the Sixers to make the finals and win if the Grizzlies aren’t there.

[–]RocketsAZRockets 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Rockets fans have a special love for Ja Morant since his favorite team was the Rockets. Dude is straight up Derrick Rose/Allen Iverson

[–]76ersAveBoyTrey6 216 points217 points  (3 children)

JAMES HARDEN IS A SIXER

[–]RocketsAZRockets 56 points57 points  (1 child)

It's gonna be weird seeing him in a Sixers jersey but also wearing the number "1"

[–]AspirationalChoker 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Number 13 might have been the bad luck holding him back all this time….

Though if he does win in his years in Philly I imagine the behemoth of a Center next to him wi be a big help lol

[–]76ersCreampiedyagirl 324 points325 points  (6 children)

James harden a sixer can’t believe this my life. Hope we get a press conference

[–]76ersDarko33 94 points95 points  (1 child)

My brother is taking my niece and two nephews to their first sixers game tonite, I hope he rings the bell!!!

[–]76ersVyxtic 27 points28 points  (0 children)

[–]moldedbyawkwardness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[–][MIN] D'Angelo Russellzmajxd 111 points112 points  (1 child)

[–]Celticsdoflamingo34 15 points16 points  (0 children)

REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD

[–]faithfamilyfootball[🍰] 50 points51 points  (3 children)

The process worked. Eat crow all naysayers. James Harden is a Philadelphia 76er.

[–]Raptorsthegoodbadandsmoggy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Love the winter jacket vs just a light long sleeve shirt dichotomy haha

[–]NBADemarcusLovin 75 points76 points  (13 children)

The “James Harden is washed” crowd is about to eat a lot of crow soon

Same as the “Morey will never get a star for Ben” crowd already has

[–]Knickscrototype 56 points57 points  (3 children)

One of the GOAT execs right here. Got Harden for fucking Ben Simmons 😂🤣 wish the Knicks got Morey instead of this fraud we got running the team..

[–]BullsCapital-Vacation-881 24 points25 points  (1 child)

That hug cured his injured hamstrings

[–]76ersDoobie_Howitzer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And trimmed down that beer belly pretty damn quick!

[–]WarriorsThePlaceboJunkie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2 Rockets 2 Philly part 2

[–]76ersItsPupy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And thus concludes this chapter of the process.
