Batum picked a good time to drop his season high

[–]76ersfuckareyousaying 449 points450 points  (26 children)

Brought to you by another Tobias shit night

[–]76ersKmactothemac 370 points371 points  (11 children)

Respect to Nurse for benching him at the end of the game, may have won us the game

[–]76ersflame838 191 points192 points  (0 children)

100% won us the game

[–]SourMoojuice 157 points158 points  (1 child)

Doc wouldve 100% kept Tobi in, or maybe even done something dumber like putting in Mo Bamba

[–]CelticsCreatiScope 70 points71 points  (1 child)

I was saying out loud “you gotta yank him, if you want to win, you have to bench him now!”

And Nurse did. Doc never would’ve.

[–]TrustTheFriendship 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It feels amazing to actually have a real coach. Idk what the Bucks were smoking to think Glenn was the fixer for them. We’ve wanted him gone since the Hawks debacle.

[–]76ersABagOfPopcorn 77 points78 points  (9 children)

Tobias was one of the only guys trying in the first half. Wasn’t great but he was trying

[–]76ersEmpire0820 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Right like tobi is ass but ass was better than the rest of the team for a good long while

[–]NBAaiden3buckets 2225 points2226 points  (27 children)

4th quarter yelling that’s why Batum in

[–]RocketsSc0rch1ngDr4g0n 625 points626 points  (0 children)

Batum: “Tyler Herro over me!?”

[–]Trail BlazersShaedonSharpe4Life 240 points241 points  (3 children)

He was so nice with Portland I love my hairless king

[–]Trail Blazersyoungwimmer 155 points156 points  (1 child)

Man lives to inbound, hit 3s, and provide chill vibes

[–]76ersFultzShoulder 160 points161 points  (1 child)

And that's why Tobias was out.

[–]76ersKryptonicxJesus 77 points78 points  (6 children)

I love the French

[–]CocaineandPercs 194 points195 points  (0 children)

Someone’s always gotta take it too far.

[–]76ersMickothy 75 points76 points  (2 children)

You're disgusting

[–]76ersKryptonicxJesus 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Are you the one that reported me to the crisis bot?

[–]76ersMickothy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

No lmao. These people.

[–]RaptorsI-Knowball 1927 points1928 points  (65 children)

Strategic loss by the heat so they can go against the Celtics again

[–]ALotOfLobster 750 points751 points  (14 children)

Caleb Martin's 5 pts tonight has me more convinced than ever he's gonna go super saiyan against the C's again

[–]Kings BandwagonTAYSON_JAYTUM 280 points281 points  (11 children)

Incoming 7/9 on heavily contested 3’s in the second half of one of these games

[–]Celticsblobthetoasterstrood 145 points146 points  (9 children)

He averaged 19/6 on 60/50/88 splits in the ECF last year. He’s had 4 20+ point games this year out of 64. Heat were on something else last year

[–]LakersSmokeOddessey 42 points43 points  (3 children)

I still refuse to believe this guy isn’t like secretly elite, it just doesn’t make sense lol he just turned into Kawhi against yall for like no reason

[–]Celticsblobthetoasterstrood 51 points52 points  (2 children)

Yeah? Gabe Vincent in the same series turned into curry with 16 ppg on 49/52/94 splits. Sometimes shit happens… it’s the heat dark arts

[–]HeatShmoopy65 72 points73 points  (5 children)

Bold of to assume we beat the hawks/bulls

[–]KnicksHoyaDestroya33 79 points80 points  (2 children)

Yes it's all going accdg to Spo's script

[–]HeatIce_Dragon3444 146 points147 points  (25 children)

LOL no, we are just bad this time.

[–]Celticsflyingpandum 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Don’t you fucking lie to us.

[–][SEA] Shawn KempPsychoticSoul 122 points123 points  (6 children)

Boston fans dont believe you.

They're def dreading this.

[–]Celticsdmatthews2981 92 points93 points  (5 children)

Every logical part of my brain likes the matchup, but I'm still scared as hell

[–]Lakerscuhman1cuhman2 63 points64 points  (6 children)

Celtics being the one seed and the possibility of getting their two worst matchups in the Heat and Magic b2b rounds

[–][BOS] Marquis DanielsFartrelCluggins 53 points54 points  (2 children)

The magic aren't a bad matchup. They are the team I want to play most in the whole eastern conference. Their half court offense is putrid. I also don't think the heat are a bad matchup with KP playing zone breaker, as evident by all our games against them this year.

Our worst matchup in the east is the bucks

[–]CelticsParticular-Treat6124 1565 points1566 points  (52 children)

Never ever underestimate the power of free chicken it just won a team a nba game that and Batum but still the chicken helped

[–]Knicks TankwagonJiklim 612 points613 points  (26 children)

It’s hilarious how the free chicken completely changed the momentum

[–]76ersfuckareyousaying 313 points314 points  (1 child)

Batum hitting the 3 right after was the icing on the cake sauce on the nuggets

[–]RaptorsZincHead 102 points103 points  (5 children)

Mike Breen knew it, he called it

[–]CelticsCreatiScope 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Do we know who it is? Breen said it’s not a sponsor so he’s not allowed to say the name of the company. Chic fil-a?

[–]76ersmerv_havoc 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Yeah chik fil a “brickin’ for chicken”

[–]CelticsParticular-Treat6124 63 points64 points  (9 children)

Couldn’t have had happened to a better player. Fuck you caleb martin

[–]HeatYouStillTakeDamage 268 points269 points  (4 children)

It was genuinely funny watching how much the crowd came alive, especially because the foul that got those free throws was iffy. Ball don’t lie and free chicken combined.

[–]DrSkeletonHand_MD 74 points75 points  (3 children)

I was in the crowd and the chicken changed everything. That and immediately after the sound / video crew how had everyone dancing. Complete vibe change.

[–]76ersbubbles1990 20 points21 points  (2 children)

That guy they kept coming back to. Place was vibing man

[–]KnicksHoyaDestroya33 102 points103 points  (2 children)

LMAO Breen cannot say the brand since they're not a sponsor is so funny lol

[–]Pistonsscarywolverine 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Thats a company man right there

[–]Raptorsjarface111 72 points73 points  (1 child)

That was the turning point for sure. Batum be cookin that chicken too

[–]KnicksSmasher31221 24 points25 points  (6 children)

MSG chefs already getting the chicken ready.

[–]Patrick BeverleyKiryuXGoro 1221 points1222 points  (29 children)

NBA = NATIONAL BATUM ASSOCIATION

[–]LakersNoAWP 204 points205 points  (14 children)

The Batum era begins now

[–]RaptorsZincHead 34 points35 points  (2 children)

The French are taking over the league

[–]Patrick BeverleyKiryuXGoro 64 points65 points  (6 children)

He said he's retiring after the Olympics. Hopefully changes that decision.

[–]Mavericksgregghead 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Next 5 months are his.

[–]Minneapolis Lakersrawchess 128 points129 points  (3 children)

Nic Batum Association was right there

[–]Patrick BeverleyKiryuXGoro 57 points58 points  (0 children)

That's too smart for me.

[–]BucksSoCalMemePolice 11 points12 points  (1 child)

[–]76ersmoby323 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–]76ersRatedBender 305 points306 points  (12 children)

NICK NURSE MADE ADJUSTMENTS MID GAME!!!!

[–]76ersillzkla 40 points41 points  (2 children)

Yeah we really turned it around (I have no idea what the adjustments were)

[–][BOS] Marcus Smartkrimzy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Tobias benched for one

[–]76ersMerchant_Alert 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We went zone too, which almost immediately resulted in closing the gap down to 2.

And we changed out approach to attacking the Heat zone. Instead of trying to pass the ball in the middle, we had Maxey/Hield/Payne trying to drive in for kickouts, which worked wonders.

Our offense was generally less Embiid-centric in the 2nd half. He mostly just got his open shots and only attacked mismatches, which allowed him to be much more energetic on defense. He really was immense down the stretch defensively.

[–]RaptorsMajor9000 114 points115 points  (5 children)

Managed the game properly in the last minute too.

[–]76ersRatedBender 89 points90 points  (4 children)

It's probably so strange for other teams to see sixers fans get excited about this LMAO. Its so hard to explain how refreshing for it is for us to see a coach make adjustments mid game and manage the final minutes hahahahah

[–]Aquatic_Ambiance_9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're allowed to do that?

[–]HeatEternallyEuphoric 692 points693 points  (12 children)

Just saw ECF Martin on the other team. I'm sick

[–]Heatpepperpoppz 218 points219 points  (3 children)

It’s that shit you end up thinking about on the way to work the next morning like “really that many threes like that?”

[–]CelticsJuan_of_the_Dead 131 points132 points  (2 children)

That was me after the ECF last year. Waiting in the Dunkin drive through line just thinking to myself: “Martin? Really? For the whole series? I didn’t even know there were two of them.”

[–]HeatTheCrossoverKing 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I want us to get both of them just so we have 2x the chance of one of them going off like that

[–]Pacersquann256 64 points65 points  (5 children)

riley not trading herro for a 2nd star has killed miami’s window of competing for a championship

[–]HeatKey-Score-208 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Blazers didn’t want herro no one does

[–]NBAAvant-Garde-A-Clue 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Herro was the only one hitting shots in the 4th for Miami tonight. Jimmy’s playoff health and Bam’s intermittent ghosting are as big of problems as anything to do with Herro.

[–]76ersMerchant_Alert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Herro was also treated like a points ATM by Maxey/Hield/Payne, they all drove by him at will in the 2nd half.

[–]SunsDjLionOrder 889 points890 points  (25 children)

Holy shit, Batum saving the 76ers was not on my 2024 bingo card

[–][HOU] Yao Mingsorendiz 210 points211 points  (6 children)

he's always had that dawg in him, i trusted him 🙏

[–]Grizzliesthedrcubed 45 points46 points  (4 children)

He sure as hell didn't in Charlotte. Turns out he wasn't washed he just couldn't be bothered to try

[–]KnicksRobbobertoBuii 122 points123 points  (16 children)

Hornets fans fuming rn lol

[–]HornetsSaulPepper 156 points157 points  (14 children)

Of course we are lol. We honestly thought he was out of the league after his tenure with our team, turns out he was giving barely 10% of his effort. Quite wise for him, but we still hate him for it lol

[–]CelticsCreatiScope 52 points53 points  (10 children)

French players and giving the hornets shit effort. Did Tony Parker play well? I genuinely don’t remember seeing him actually play in the hornets jersey even though I know I watched at least 1 hornets game that season.

[–]76ersPokeMonogatari 70 points71 points  (5 children)

Between Batum, Parker, and Boris Diaw, Charlotte seems to be under a sort of Romani curse that afflicts all Frenchman in town with an unshakeable malaise.

[–]Magicescapedhousefly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is why the NBA didn't give the Hornets Wemby!

[–]76ersCulinaryboner 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He was just done. Think the Spurs wanted him to retire there but he wouldn’t give up

[–]KnicksReturnOfAKidNamedTae 931 points932 points  (173 children)

This is about to be so fucking toxic.

[–]KnicksSiphenPrax 441 points442 points  (68 children)

No matter who our opponent was gonna be it would be toxic. It’s time to face that damn city down I-95 South once again.

[–]HeatCall_Me_Rambo 72 points73 points  (53 children)

Would it have been more or less toxic with Miami? I genuinely have no idea the level of hate you guys and the Sixers have for each other

[–]Knicksroad432 152 points153 points  (12 children)

The last time we faced the sixers in the playoffs was in 1989. The toxicity has more to do with city rivalries than actual one on the court. Maybe this starts something in that department, but we have nothing with them like we have for the heat.

[–]76ersThisHatRightHere 39 points40 points  (5 children)

Yeah, regardless of sports conferences/divisions any Philly/NY/Boston type matchup always ends up having a ton of vitriol. It’s just the nature of the Northeast.

[–]76ersromanticynicist 61 points62 points  (4 children)

Yeah, it’s more of a Mets v Phillies thing at this point, with a smattering of Eagles v Giants (which is more of a “I feel sorry for you” / “I don’t think about you at all” thing these days).

[–]76ersRenderedInGooseFat 76 points77 points  (3 children)

Neither team has really been good at the same time. I hate New York but don't see the Knicks as a rival. We were good in the 80s and they sucked. They were good in the 90s and we sucked. We were good early 00s and they sucked. Both teams sucked for most of the time after that. Knicks had a few good years in the melo era and we have had a few in the process era. We have 2 playoff series against each other since 1979. Basically not enough sustained success to hate each other.

[–]KnicksCaius01 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Yeah, Sixers are a rival in the sense that NYC and Philly are rival cities, but there's no history of a competitive rivalry between us

[–]76ersColangelo_Ball 19 points20 points  (3 children)

It’s not a basketball hate it’s a sports hate. Eagles/Giants, Rangers/Flyers, Phillies/Mets, the hate is mutual and generational.

[–]KnicksSmasher31221 93 points94 points  (16 children)

I legitimately don't hate anyone the way I hate Miami. Embiid could come to my house and fuck my wife and I still wouldn't hate him like I hate Adebayo.

[–]jamarcusaristotle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I happen to work for the 6ers and could help arrange this if you'd like, just dm me your number /s

[–]KnicksRobbobertoBuii 90 points91 points  (0 children)

first Knicks 76ers matchup in the playoffs in 35 years

[–]RaptorsTraanPol 179 points180 points  (63 children)

Philly vs New York is going to generate unprecedented levels of toxicity

[–]Cavaliersianbits 104 points105 points  (3 children)

I want maximum chaos, 7 game series, home team loses every game. Boos per minute about to be off the charts.

[–]LowFrequenC 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a Sixers fan who works with a Knicks fan, I want this too lmao

[–]76ersMcBrungus 33 points34 points  (6 children)

Knicks fans aren't as deranged as you guys

[–]KnicksSmasher31221 50 points51 points  (40 children)

I'm already driving South to start abusing random Philadelphians on the street. With they mid-sandwich-eating ass.

[–]76ersPensiveinNJ 40 points41 points  (14 children)

See this is why it will never be as toxic as the Raptors. Shit talking our sandwiches barely registers as shit talk.

You gotta start talking about how you hope Embiid's meniscus falls off or something to get on Raptors fan levels.

[–]76ersEmpire0820 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Embiid airplaned at that justifies racism dontcha know

[–]WarriorsMC-Jdf 54 points55 points  (5 children)

A playoff series between Atlantic division teams is undefeated in toxicity.

[–]Warriorsemz0694 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As an official bystander this year I’m here for the toxicity

[–]76ersthejackel225 21 points22 points  (4 children)

When we are playing each other I will be insanely toxic

The second the series is over, if knicks win, I’m rooting for y’all no questions asked

[–][MIA] Gary Paytonjc-f 43 points44 points  (11 children)

We wanted Boston anyway <_<

[–]KnicksObtuse_Mongoose 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Please give boston your southern hospitality

[–]Celticssquarerootofapplepie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Miami is so far south they overflow and actually have northern hospitality.

[–]ThunderiCarpet 420 points421 points  (6 children)

Just woke up from a decade coma, is Nicolas Batum the GOAT?

[–]76ersBigDeezerrr 125 points126 points  (1 child)

Yup. 10x MVP and 10x NBA titles

[–]ThunderKingCakeBabyOKC 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He’s on his third straight max deal. That Hornets deal actually turned out to be a bargain.

[–]Kyler1313 667 points668 points  (40 children)

For a game that was so ugly in the first half, that was a really fun game in the 2nd half.

The play-in games are absolute banger games more often than not...

[–]KnicksSiphenPrax 144 points145 points  (1 child)

It was down to the wire until the end

[–][TOR] Hakeem OlajuwonDeSteph-DeCurry 142 points143 points  (4 children)

it’s the best of 1 so everyone goes game 7 mode

[–]Lakers_Meece_ 71 points72 points  (2 children)

Game 7s are blowouts more often than they are close. Surprisingly!

It's Finals Game 7s that have all been close. Think the last blowout Finals game 7 was in the 70s.

[–]CelticsCreatiScope 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I never thought about it but you’re right. Most game 7s feel pretty decided early on.

[–]RaptorsZincHead 64 points65 points  (14 children)

Having some of the best players in the league in the play-in helps a lot

[–]Kyler1313 40 points41 points  (12 children)

Yeah we've had a lot of talent in the play-ins Lebron, Steph, Embiid, Tatum, AD off the top of the head.

[–]Knicks TankwagonTomasRoncero 18 points19 points  (2 children)

[–][CHA] Kemba WalkerimeanYOLOright 446 points447 points  (13 children)

Nicolas Batum.

This motherfucker was so checked out FIVE YEARS AGO that everyone thought he was already washed. A level of no fucks given not seen since Bobcats era fat Boris.

TL;DR: I hate the French.

[–][SAS] Tim Duncanrattatatouille 110 points111 points  (5 children)

Turns out if you put a Frenchman in Charlotte they're just gathering energy for their next gigs

[–]HornetsSaulPepper 34 points35 points  (3 children)

Frenchmen using the Hornets as a career rest lol

[–]KnicksHoyaDestroya33 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Tobias Harris being Tobias Harris was the perfect storm for Batum's opportunity and heroics in this game.

[–]76ersGeoffreyGeoffson 360 points361 points  (10 children)

Anyone know what happened last time the Heat lost the 7-8 game? I assume they didn't end up doing much in the playoffs

[–]HeatMuch_Conversation_11 190 points191 points  (6 children)

Worried about Jimmys knee this time. The injury didn’t come til the second round last time lol

[–]Kitchen-Werewolf7303 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it's just a sprain and a day or 2 he'll be back to 90+%

[–]76ersNetwealth5 340 points341 points  (6 children)

[–]Trail BlazersHange11037 145 points146 points  (5 children)

[–][PHI] Joel EmbiidStar_City 103 points104 points  (4 children)

A million times funnier

[–]Knicksbronfmanhigh 20 points21 points  (2 children)

what does boston even do at that point? keep running it back in the second apron?

[–]CelticsSantaDaCrip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think we might have to retire Butlers number or something at that point. It'd be similar to a lebronto situation where he literally owns us.

[–]76ersSsush-i 123 points124 points  (4 children)

JESUS CHRIST I THOUGHT WE WERE GONNA BLOW IT.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOUL AT THE END

[–]Raptorsschoolhater12 38 points39 points  (1 child)

the refs are so ass. I guarantee it was a make up call for the uncalled Batum push that lead to the back court violation. On the other side they did not give the same call when Lowry was grabbed

[–]HeatBig_Boodu_Moot69 92 points93 points  (10 children)

[–]Celticsmarnjuana 112 points113 points  (8 children)

But Caleb Martin still has two

[–]Heatsyncc6 26 points27 points  (4 children)

Unfortunately, this year feels like the year we got swept by the Bucks.

[–]Lakerssmlngb 35 points36 points  (9 children)

Bucks fans and Celtics fans both traumatized at this point

[–]LakersTallanoGoldDigger 101 points102 points  (6 children)

LMAOOO the inbounds foul was to help get the over of 208

[–]76ersPensiveinNJ 56 points57 points  (0 children)

That was so stupid. Dudes were getting knocked down all over the place and that's what they finally whistled.

[–]IAmModNow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s blatant

[–]76ersPetalumaPegleg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Watching them let waaaaay more contact than that go on multiple inbounds by the heat then calling that was pretty hilarious. (Now, not at the time)

[–][POR] Brandon RoyNevermoreSEA 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is Nic Batum's league.

[–]CelticsJayTL 105 points106 points  (12 children)

Every Celtics fan just heard the opening notes to the Jaws theme in their head, and many will wonder why.

[–]ThunderApprehensive-Sir-411 54 points55 points  (5 children)

you’ll never catch me slandering Embiid. big guy clearly not at 100% but had an incredible fourth quarter when Philly desperately needed him! Silver cooked with the play-in

[–]NuggetsNawO98 74 points75 points  (17 children)

Knicks vs Sixers should be a great series. Hartenstein & Mitchell Robinson are a great defensive rotation to guard Embiid, and OG on Maxey will be interesting. Philly also doesn't have the best defensive guard rotation for someone like Brunson imo.

[–]ChasingItSupreme 40 points41 points  (2 children)

Embiid does not look healthy, a seven game series against the Knicks is going to be hard for him.

[–]76ersDoctor-Jay 7 points8 points  (1 child)

He looked way better before he re-tweaked his knee against Orlando... If he's like this all series then we're in trouble.

[–][PHI] Robert Covingtonzaydb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All set for Batum to average 35 is what I'm hearing

[–]leebong252018 30 points31 points  (6 children)

Let me tell you this, OG doesn't do a great job against really good sgs or pgs

[–]CelticsCreatiScope 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Yeah, Hart and Donte are gonna get that assignment I would imagine.

[–]76ersJrFelix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the games I've watched, Batum/Oubre guards the other team's star guard, and it sort of works because they don't die on screens and can somehow keep up. We'll see how that works against Brunson.

[–][WAS] Wes UnseldTurbo2x 48 points49 points  (11 children)

does Spo hate Bam or what? Embiid can barely move and yet Bam doesn't get the ball once down the stretch

[–]76ershreterh 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What would that do? Bam doesn’t have an offense

[–]76ersOk_Tomorrow8616 58 points59 points  (1 child)

Crumbl man was benched and the sixers won the game. A tale as old as time

The Dame Package just lost to Nic Batum

[–]76ersxicer 18 points19 points  (1 child)

The Dame Package just lost to the Harden Package. Interestingly enough Harden's Package lost to Kelly Oubre.

[–]Raptorsbeta_test_vocals 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of men’s packages would lose to Kelly Oubre

Tobias Harris is a basketball terrorist

If Nic Batum has a million fans, then I am one of them. If Nic Batum has ten fans, then I am one of them. If Nic Batum has only one fan then that is me. If Nic Batum has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. If the world is against Nic Batum, then I am against the world.

I hate playing the Heat. Good riddance and your welcome Boston.

Did not think I'd be saying Nic Batum was the best player in the game today, but here we are.

[–]76ersFultzShoulder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nurse benching Tobias won them the game. Brilliant move.

[–]KnicksNtLmr95 52 points53 points  (7 children)

Miami coasted all season for that?

[–]CanadaJMoon33 108 points109 points  (11 children)

The Heat waived Lowry who went on to sign with the 76ers, start for them and help them get the 7th seed and beat the Heat in the play-in.

[–]Obvious_Parsley3238 75 points76 points  (7 children)

they traded him and the hornets waived him

[–][UTA] Kyle KorverPeter-Tao 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Nah, I don't need that detail for my narratives

[–]HeatGoVorteX 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They traded him, and the better player they received in the trade was injured and couldn't even play lol

[–]GIK601 22 points23 points  (9 children)

So Heat vs Celtics?

[–]RaptorsmMounirM 201 points202 points  (26 children)

Heat players arguing less than 0.3 seconds passed in between maxey touching the ball and the ball going out of bounds lol

[–]Heatpestobar127 181 points182 points  (6 children)

[–]76ersSecondHandFood 128 points129 points  (1 child)

[–]76ersLocalParanoiac 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Honestly I was really sympathetic and then they showed the replay and I was like…oh…

[–][BOS] Jayson Tatumyoukrocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe if Herro didn’t take his time getting a shot up they’d actually have a case
