Cars having a discussion, but don't want human to hear.

    [–]ClassicKrova 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside, these cars were probably programmed to be simulated in a "physics mode" and a "lightweight mode". Lightweight mode relies on path-finding and NPC AI to avoid collisions, but as soon as a player approaches all of that logic is out the window and physics mode must be enabled...

    Boom.

How is this game? I really liked the first one but the second kinda felt like just a shooter after a while.

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 339 points340 points  (43 children)

I love it. The gameplay loop is sound as someone who plays non-lethal/stealth. Only gone for the kill everyone route on like two missions in 40+ hours and even then it was avoidable if I were more patient. More than anything I keep coming back to it for the gorgeous, detailed world. I’m walking between missions just to take in the wonderful world.

I feel like I’ve already got my money’s worth but I’ve heard (and seen) that it runs like shit on PC so that’s definitely worth keeping in mind if that’s your platform of choice.

    [–][deleted] 125 points126 points  (11 children)

Honestly loving the little stories the game makes.

Like two of my operatives are brothers, both 30 years old and into kink, one born in Mexico, the other in Ireland.

The Mexican brother recuited the Irish guy by hacking his rivals email, only for the rival to kidnap the opertive who required the Mexican brother.

Which lead to a mission where the two brothers teamed up to save the operative and kill the rival.

    [–]Mellonhead58 66 points67 points  (10 children)

Is that a part of the story or literally something that came up because of the way you played the game? I know the game is supposed to be about recruiting random people but I’m not sure how deep it oes

    [–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (6 children)

There are some really neat emergent gameplay moments. I was playing as long of my better ops (a drone specialist) and shit went while I was driving. I accidentally hit an Albion car, which started a chase. During the chase I ended up running over a civilian. Cut to a few hours later, I'm notified that op was kidnapped by a disgruntled citizen as revenge for killing their sibling during the car chase, which began a side quest where I had to track down and save my kidnapped op.

    [–]Mellonhead58 29 points30 points  (5 children)

So no more watch dogs 1 BS where the “vigilante” can just go on killing sprees without much consequence?

    [–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (3 children)

As far as I can tell! The game also gives way more nonlethal options so you don't get the weird ludo narrative dissonance of a story friendly, likeable protag who ruthlessly slaughters hundreds of people.

It's a good time, and you can pick up a month of uplay+ for $15 if you're not sure about spending $60 on it just yet (because it still is pretty buggy unfortunately)

    [–]Mellonhead58 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Odds are I’ll keep it on my steam wishlist for a while, maybe christmas

Also just remembered it’s not on steam yet lmao. I’ll figure something out

    [–]T-Baaller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Ubisoft isn’t keen on steam releases these days.

I think it’s because other companies are paying them for exclusive reselling malarkey.

    [–]Klutzy_Piccolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or if you're patient, you can probably get it free. I have both previous games from giveaways. Ubisoft are one of the better publishers for the consumer around right now.

    [–]Welcome2Banworld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. You can still kill as much as you want without much consequence.

    [–][deleted] 55 points56 points  (2 children)

    Kinda how I played.

I was trying to get the Mexican brother when I stumbled upon the Irish brother and just found that them both being 30, into kink and born the other side of the world and meeting up in London just too interesting to pass up..

The game randomly decided to kidnap an operative. It just happened to be the guy who brother in the Mexican brother so I decided that he was going to free him to repay kidnapped operative for brong him to Dedsec.

In the course of the mission I had to hack a phone of the kidnapper who the game set as the Irish brother rival.

So the Mexican brother got the location of the kidnapped operative and killed the kidnapper. So I decided that as he killed soneone in public he had to lay low and he contacted the Irish brother about the location of the kidnapped operatives.

    [–]Mellonhead58 22 points23 points  (1 child)

That’s bad fucking ass, I might need to get this

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do an Ubisoft subscription now. I just paid $15 and I get to play this now and AC Valhalla next week. They're the ultimate editions too

    [–]PresidentZeus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My game runs normally, but my pc standard is shit. but I get smooth 30 fps med/high settings with a gtx1050Ti in my laptop. only get framedrops when achieving high speeds by car/bike

    [–]xNamelesspunkx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve already got my money’s worth but I’ve heard (and seen) that it runs like shit on PC so that’s definitely worth keeping in mind if that’s your platform of choice.

The game looks great (for me at least) even on medium preset. There is a lot of details, now I can only dream with ray tracing and 4k (soon....).

The big problem on PC (and other platforms I guess) is that there is a lot of bugs; game corrupting bugs with missions related to recruitment, crashes, auto-save not really saving with no way to make a manual save.

It's a shame! I love the gameplay and what Ubisoft tries to spice things up. Unfortunately the state of the game is a real mess even with the 1.44GB day one patch.

For now, i'll just let the game sleep in my hdd until the game is playable stable, thus making it enjoyable.

    [–]Ace_Fear 4 points5 points  (2 children)

i bought it on xbox because i heard that the PC version had issues but the console version isnt without its own issues. I've had crashes every 2-3 hours.

    [–]th3BeastLord 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Weird. Mine has only crashed twice on Xbox. Is yours the basic one or the X or S?

    [–]Ace_Fear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the basic one. yesterday it crashed after only an hour, but after that i was crash free for the rest of the night so it is sporadic

    [–]Dinosauringg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go stealth with everyone but my Clan Kelley enforcer, who busts in and kills anyone who moves

    [–]ZoharDTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard (and seen) that it runs like shit on PC

I've got a R7 3700x and a RTX2080S and I can pull a solid 60fps at 1080p with everything on very high and ray tracing on medium.

    For reference.

    [–]CactusCustard 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol. It doesn’t run badly on pc, it’s just very demanding.

It runs like shit on consoles.

Check the digital foundry videos for actual information.

    [–]zeno82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of both. Their Ambient Occlusion performs worse for me than most AO implementations. It's very demanding on CPUs, which makes sense.

    [–]MickeyGrandia -1 points0 points  (6 children)

It runs great on my pc

    [–]Mellonhead58 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Never say that without giving specs, lol

    [–]MickeyGrandia 3 points4 points  (3 children)

    CPU - i7-4790k. GPU - GTX 1070. And 16 Gb ram

The rest i don't really know

    [–]Pepplay 2 points3 points  (2 children)

What graphics setting are you using and what FPS does the game run?

    [–]zeno82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    They didn't give resolution, either.

I have same i7-4790k CPU, Vega 56, 32 GB RAM. If I run anything higher than 1080p, I have to drop the internal render resolution down so its internally rendering only 1080p.

I don't like frames below 50 or so. I'm usually in the 55 to 65 range, but my CPU is showing its age and I get occasional dip down to 40s, especially when driving. Walking or riding slow cargo drone keeps frames higher than driving.

And I use a wide mix of settings. Some maxed like texture filtering, others low like Environment details. Just based on tweaking and bang for buck. The game needs reflections to be on High at least IMO. Just makes rainy city look so much better, especially with all the puddles and colorful lights in HDR at night.

Note: I have no idea if HDR is costing frames. Don't want to turn it off.

I sometimes turn AO off. It's not as noticeable as some games and their implementation can cost several frames per second. Reflections on medium gives you some frames back too and isn't bad during day or less reflective areas.

I will add I believe there's a leak as well. I've noticed framerates are best when I first start playing, but a couple hours later game is more sluggish.

    [–]MickeyGrandia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running the game mainly on medium. And the resolution 2560 x 1440

And the fps is mainly 60. Drops sometimes in busy area's but that just for a little bit

    [–]HailToTheVic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Runs great on mine too

    [–]futurarmy -4 points-3 points  (5 children)

it runs like shit on PC

Also I've just learned it's an epic exclusive, obligatory /r/fuckepic.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

    What no

    [–]futurarmy 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They're a scummy immoral company that uses anti-consumer practices to stay relevant, fuck them.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes that I agree with, but WDL is not an Epic exclusive edit: just checked that, you are right, although it is a timed exclusive.

    [–]futurarmy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They have done this year of exclusivity with countless triple A games now and it's fucking annoying for anyone that doesn't want to use their launcher, I really don't get how people can still defend such anti-consumer practices unless they're epic fanboys or shills.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it pisses me off too considering I don't want to spend a damn cent on their shitty store.

    [–]ReturnofGannon 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I haven't had any PC performance issues, but I don't use ray tracing. I think a lot of people have jumped the gun on that technology. It tanks performance in every game that tries to use it, from what I hear. My Radeon VII GPU has been performing just fine, though.

    [–]zeno82 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Not so much for the RTX 3-series, though. RTX obviously doesn't hinder performance as much for them since it's 2nd generation.

    [–]howaan 1 point2 points  (2 children)

    [–]zeno82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    ?

    [–]Jamessuperfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ray tracing will always be very demanding, the same way 4k or high refresh rates are demanding to render. It isn't intended to perform well, just look good.

    [–]Overwatch_Voice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like how non-lethal means that you're shooting people with guns but with laser beams or whatever.

    [–]FinnK369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how you avoid killing in missions where you're forced to hack something and then stay within range for like a minute or even more as every enemy nearby is alerted and converges straight to your location? If I try to do this and I have a non lethal operative I'll always end up having to take out my stun weapons. Even after that, I'm quickly overwhelmed and end up arrested and just switching to a spy, or hitman with a lethal arsenal as it seems the only way past it.

Also to the original commenter, I'm very surprised anyone would consider Watch Dogs 2 a 'shooter'. I've played it like 3 times and the last 2 times I went through the whole game not killing a single person. Unless you count the Wrench gameplay. But even then, I'm pretty sure I managed that without killing once too. The only gun I bought was the paintball gun, and that was just for fun.

    [–]HunterDigi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In 2nd one you should just avoid lethal weapons... and I'm not sure how 2nd one is the shooter when the first one is all about that killing xD

I finished both btw, each one is its own thing.

    [–]milesdizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d wait a month so they can iron out some of the (minor) bugs, but for me it’s the GOTY so far. So much fun, and it’s somehow avoiding getting stale.

    [–]geriatricgary 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Incredibly disappointing. The “recruit everyone” mechanic makes for hundreds of plain, boring characters. The game is PAINFULLY unfinished, giving you stuff like what’s featured in this post. Really no improvements over WD2, and a lot of step-backs

    [–]Jamessuperfun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I haven't had this experience at all, many of the recruits have had big differences and drastically change the way I play. Team members effectively determine the strategy I take - hitmen go in guns blazing with instant takedowns while drone experts handle everything from their custom drones while waiting outside. I've encountered a few bugs, but wouldn't call it painfully unfinished.

    [–]mt943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play 2hours and you’ve seen all there is to do. Every mission is the same : head there, get inside, “““hack“““ (just press a button), go somewhere else, do the same and mission is over. Yay I hope you enjoyed your $70

    [–]KingOfFrownz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game looks great and is pretty fun for awhile. The recruit anyone thing is cool but I honestly thought not having a real main character was a downside. By the end of the campaign I was just rushing through to finish. Probably not worth the full price but once its on sale I do think it would be worth it

    [–]Rad_Dad6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd wait for a sale. The recruit mechanic is neat but not utilized in any real way. The character abilities aren't any thing special. The missions are all the same. Some of the encounter areas are very well designed but in the 20 hours I've played I've had to go to the same places over and over again. All the objectives are the same and no matter what the game says your doing, all your character really does is get near one of three server types and hold the hack button. Overall there's nothing wrong with it, but I feel like $60 is way too much for the experience. Wait two weeks for assassin's creed

    [–]RichManSCTV 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thats funny... The second one is not a shooter at all. More of a tactical stealth game. Unless you do not know how to play. Then it is a shooter

    [–]kervincraggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed I never go too far out of the way to avoid deaths, but noticed pretty deep into 2 that I'd only let off like 4 lethal rounds. You almost never had to even go in the building lol.

So far I'm having a blast on Legion. I could see it getting stale if you're not one to take time and just explore the sandbox...but if you are that type, buy this game.

    [–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

    Boring

    [–]spuntwace 48 points49 points  (0 children)

    You startled them!

    [–]Weibrot 34 points35 points  (3 children)

There is a podcast in the game that pokes fun at this, they mention how the automatic driving cars "send people flying" and that the system that operates them is too bugged.

    [–]Sigma_Games 21 points22 points  (2 children)

I love that it's an in-game lore fact that the AI for the cars are fucked, and not just Ubisoft skimping on the programming (Which is probably also true)

    [–]Weibrot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the people who included that joke had no say in what state the game was gonna be released in

    [–]Almighti3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Bug?? Nah, it’s a feature :)

    [–]Mac15178 24 points25 points  (5 children)

What’s the game like I was thinking about getting it seeing as I’ve played 1st and 2nd

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 32 points33 points  (2 children)

Like I said here I genuinely love the game. Hard to say if you’ll enjoy this one. We all played these games at different points in time with different mindsets and dynamic criteria as to what’s cool and what sucks. I personally am really enjoying the time I’m spending playing this shit.

    [–]Mac15178 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I generally enjoyed the storyline and game play to both ducking about with the gadgets etc although I struggled to get along with the online side of things specially the driving missions, at this moment i a. playing ghosts of Tsushima and find the game boring

    [–]basti329 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    HERESY

I SHALL SMITE YOU DOWN FOR OUR LORD SAKAI YOU IMBECILE!

    /s

Too bad you dont like it but hey, dont sweat it - you dont have to like everything.

    [–]Peacheers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda broken on all ports right now so it would probably be better to wait a couple of months but personally I love the gameplay loop especially with recruiting people to your team although it removes some features like the phone menu and a couple hacks

    [–]Welcome2Banworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've played 1 and 2 and found them enjoyable. You'll have a good time here too.

    [–]xanderrootslayer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you for wearing your mask while in public

    [–]Jhinbeats 110 points111 points  (11 children)

with how broken watch dogs is I cant wait to see if Valhalla is the same.

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 112 points113 points  (8 children)

Different studios but I share your sentiment. I honestly love shit like this so I won’t be mad if Valhalla shares some of that open-world stank.

    [–]well___duh 16 points17 points  (7 children)

More like different teams of the same studio (Ubisoft). Plus, Ubisoft’s game engine has had bugs like this for years.

    [–]Vallkyrie 41 points42 points  (5 children)

Each of their games use different engines

    [–]Ayoul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft isn't just one studio. They all work under the same company yes, but Legion was lead by the studio in Toronto. Valhalla is lead by the one in Montreal. Watch Dogs and AC don't use the same engine.

    [–]odellusv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

was odyssey this bad on release?

    [–]elr0y7 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I see you were also compelled to put a mask on your character.

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The rest of my jabroni characters can run around catching bullets and spreading whatever. My main character? They’re going non-lethal all the way.

    [–]ReallySeriousDogs 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Really wish I could play for more than 30 minutes but my Xbox keeps crashing in the middle of missions :(

    [–]unabsolute 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Good thing they didn't delay this game.

    [–]ReallySeriousDogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Totally

    [–]Welcome2Banworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game crashed more for me than any other game I've ever played it's crazy. I even played Skyrim on the ps3 and still crashed less.

    [–]Allfather_of_Aesir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those sound and visual effects are poor, was just like fireworks going off.

    [–]xNamelesspunkx 37 points38 points  (4 children)

What normal people see: A glitch (funny or not)

What I see: A car orgy with an (not-so)happy ending.

    [–]h1gsta 18 points19 points  (1 child)

    With an explosive ending.

    [–]xNamelesspunkx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending of the point of view, it's all the same 😏

    [–]the_friendly_one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    I dunno. I was satisfied.

    [–]astralwish1[🍰] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good for your character for wearing a mask! Gotta protect yourself, even in virtual worlds!

    [–]No-BrowEntertainment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never thought Tesla’s self-driving car gimmick was feasible until they gave their cars the ability to phase through solid matter

    [–]SheeEttin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything was fine until you walked up. Why did you ruin it?

    [–]Renegade_Meister 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Looks like the hitbox doesn’t exist until the player gets close

    [–]EducatedEvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you start gang wars like you could in 2?

    [–]Ptaryn 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Where did you find your operative? They're so pretty! :3

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was blessed with them being among the first choices. They had absolutely no special traits and they dressed ‘em like a goddamned pensioner. But I went with them and spent hours shopping ‘em a decent outfit. They’ve been my main character outside of the few (murder everyone) missions.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That's pretty funny. Didn't expect the cars to explode. Is this game any good? Never played it. Graphics look pretty nice.

    [–]Jamessuperfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of different opinions on this one, but I really like it. Same Watch Dogs format set in London with more of a non-lethal focus and the ability to play as anyone, with permadeath.

    [–]Neanderthalll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this game. Nothing in it about watching dogs. 0/10.

    [–]Brianisntcool191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Ubisoft games are a joke

    [–]Dvrkstvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know if glitch in matrix or bug in game code

    [–]flyingdonkeydong69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping for the end there. Was worried that those cars that took so much time and effort to meticulous phase into each other wouldn't end up glitching out.

    [–]Saltay282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People be saying that AI is gonna take over but these self driving cars are proving them wrong

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    The games out???

    [–]Ptaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out on October 29th.

    [–]AK47_Sushant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Fuuuuu.... Sion ......... Haaaaa.... ....

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Do you get to make your own character in Legion?

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Nah, it’s pure RNG. You can spend however many minutes scouting motherfuckers in the street but most of them are either ugly as fuck or devoid of cool skills, just like in real life I guess.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Hmm. That seems kinda cool and kinda lame at the same time.

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For what it’s worth there’s a good deal of cosmetics. The character in this clip started off as a weird fuck cosplaying as a pensioner. Once I changed their whole outfit up I decided to use them as my key protagonist.

    [–]Jamessuperfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding the good ones feels great, though. When you come across a hitman with a weapon arsenal, instant takedowns on aware enemies, combat roll and increased stealth it's a bit exciting knowing how much of a badass you'll be (until you get him killed by screwing up).

    [–]HakunaTequila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    [–]amazingoomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am enjoying this game but honestly it’s so glitchy. Really needs a patch.

    [–]therobohour 2 points3 points  (4 children)

    How much was that game?

    [–]Jewrusalem[S] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

$70AUD, and I’ve spent more than 40 hours in it, many of which I’ve sat slack-jawed saying “Wow fuck uhuh”. By that math it’s at least as good as a cheap bottle of Shiraz.

    Step-cars what are you doing?

    [–]szmytie -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Ubisoft has the worst developer team I've ever seen. All they do is retexture things. They dont give a fuck about innovation or new ideas. The hacking (main theme of the game) is boring as fuck. The first watchdogs was better than this legion garbage.

The only fun I ever had in watchdogs was playing poker against ai's.

    [–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I love that she starts clapping like it’s some sort of planned firework display

This looks like a dope game I played a little bit of the first one. Tired the second one but it always seemed a little to cringey. From what little I seen from this one, it seems to much like that kylie jenner pepsi ad I can't explain what I mean can't think of the words. But other than that how do you guys feel about it the graphics look dope and the physics seems good other than this glitch

Woah that's not what I was expecting haha I have been out of the loop with these games for a while as far a story. But you think if I push aside the cringey "we are young rebel" bright clothes quirkyness it could be good cuz Im have played games that annoyed me or I didn't but then ended up loving them. I'm open minded to whatever. But I trust your explanation.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to see that Ubisoft did absolutely nothing for quality control since the first watch dogs.

“Omg why would they delay cyberpunk again???” Exhibit A: watch dogs is why

        [–]SwamBrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first watchdogs was so bad I can’t even think about getting the others.

        [–]0_ZeRoZ_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Is this game worth playing?

        [–]TheRealGodOfPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is still in pre alpha or something right? Everywhere i search it just tells me about the game and nothing else.

        [–]TheMajesticDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game looks like a bag of shit

        [–]JC5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)
