Which Jon/John will it be?

Fingers crossed we can see Paul reunite with the phenomenal Jon Brion, but seeing how Paul isn’t one to look backwards, we might end up seeing another film scored by the incredible Johnny Greenwood.

Maybe Paul’s recent music video collaboration with The Smile indicates it’s going to be Greenwood but I can still dream.

Jon Brion is back doing the monthly shows at Largo. He did one in September and October, but they just announced a November and December show. He looks like he does a fun live show and still does audience requests apparently. If you're in LA or visiting during those times, sounds like it would be worth it to attend.

Largo moved locations in 2009, so unfortunately, it is no longer at the location where Elliott spent so much time. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the piano they have is the same one from the old location. The bit of Elliott sitting at a piano in the Figure 8 video, I believe was that piano at Largo. Jon and Flanny (the owner) talked about all the late nights at Largo with Elliott in Heaven Adores you and in Autumn de Wilde's book.

Curious what others thoughts are on the two different versions of Extraordinary Machine. I absolutely love the Jon Brion version, and honestly can’t listen to the official release because it simply doesn’t sound right to me. Am I the only one? Is there a team Brion vs. team Elizondo battle happening anywhere out there?

Seriously, the dude is everywhere I look. He's worked with so many artists I admire it's ridiculous. He must be my favorite record producer. Haven't heard his stuff yet but I probably should.

Was just revisiting the Jon Brion show pilot. Of course the performances themselves are really great. But Elliott looked so uncomfortable and sad. Maybe it was just knowing he had cameras on him. I know this is not long before his addiction spiraled too, but he seems pretty sober in this, though I think I recall reading Jon Brion saying that when he showed up it was obvious that something was wrong or he was on something, though perhaps I'm getting that mixed up with something else.

Wondering what your thoughts on what was happening here is. He cracks a few small jokes and furtive smiles at Jon but other than that this is pretty painfully awkward. Elliott had a lot of great shows in the run up to this where he was relaxed and affable.
