Bucks are 15-16 since firing Adrian Griffin and Hiring Doc Rivers

The Bucks were 32-14 under Adrian Griffin. After hiring Doc Rivers, they are now 47-30, which means they have gone 15-16 under Doc Rivers (an under .500 record). Is this the most reactionary hiring/firing of all time? Even though people think the Bucks were "underperforming" under Griffin, 32-14 is pretty good for any team (that's a 57-win pace).

This is a pretty serious allegation, especially right after Griffin's first win as a head coach vs the 76ers yesterday.

For people saying its just because of yesterday there are multiple tweets on here profile going back to May-June discussing similar issues

After starting 1-4, Doc Rivers now needs to go 24-7 or better in the remaining 31 RS games to tie Adrian Griffin Win% as the head coach of the Bucks this season.

Adrian Griffin won 30 of the 43 RS games he was the head coach of the Bucks. That's 69.76%.

With Joe Prunty filling the role for 3 games (2-1), there's only 36 RS games left.

Doc started by losing 4 of the first 5, therefore he can only afford to lose 7 more in the remainder of the season, to tie Adrian Griffin Win%.

Chris Haynes: Bobby Portis passionately challenged head coach Adrian Griffin and teammates to be better

LAS VEGAS — After the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated from the NBA In-Season Tournament by the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, forward Bobby Portis passionately challenged head coach Adrian Griffin and teammates to be better, league sources tell Bleacher Report.

The Pacers advanced to the IST Finals following a 128-119 victory. The Bucks' offense collapsed in the fourth quarter as the Pacers won the final frame, 37-25.

Griffin entered the locker room and began harping on the importance of winning the rebounding battle, sources say.

The Pacers outrebounded the Bucks 51-46. Portis, who scored four points on just five shots against Indiana in a near-season-low 18 minutes, quickly interjected and stressed how essential it is for Griffin to structure the offense down the stretch of games, sources said.

As one of the leaders of the team, Portis continued on voicing his concerns. Griffin welcomed the criticism and acknowledged he could do a better job being more aggressive with his play-calling, sources say. The nine-year veteran explained that it's a two-way street: direction is needed and then it's up to the players to execute, sources say.

One busted offensive possession that proved to be severely costly came with two minutes left in the contest and the Bucks down three. Myles Turner had just tipped in a goal and Giannis Antetokounmpo proceeded to inbound the ball to Khris Middleton. Damian Lillard came over to retrieve the ball, but Middleton motioned for the guard to run opposite so he could bring the ball up the court.

Once Middleton made it passed half court, he looked for Lillard who was being hounded by Bruce Brown. Middleton forced the pass and it was picked off.

Brown's transition layup attempt was halted by Lillard at the rim, but no Bucks players got back and Buddy Hield gathered the offensive rebound and put in the easy two.

Lillard admitted after the game that he didn't know what they were doing on that possession.

"It was an unfortunate play," Lillard said.

The Bucks, now 15-7 and a game behind the Boston Celtics for the top spot out East, were the favorites to win the IST. Incorporating new pieces into the fold remains a work in progress and Griffin, in his first year as head coach, is still getting to know the strengths of his roster.

Milwaukee is in win-now mode. Emotions and the stakes are high.

[Stein] Nick Nurse, Kenny Atkinson and Adrian Griffin are the three reported Bucks head coaching finalists, with Giannis said to be intrigued by Griffin.

The Bucks appear to be the closest of the five teams with current coaching openings to filling the position.

Nurse, Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson and Adrian Griffin, an assistant on Nurse's staff in Toronto, are the three reported finalists to replace the ousted Mike Budenholzer.

As I reported here Monday, dialogue with Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to be a feature of this stage ... with Giannis said to be intrigued by the Griffin option.

Known info but the Giannis liking Griffin part is new. Well, not that new, as John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports said it a couple days ago on his podcast.

I think that Griffin is gonna get the Milwaukee job because Giannis wants him. There’s like a butting of the heads in Milwaukee, from what I’m being told, because you’ve got the owner, you’ve got the GM, you’ve got Giannis. They wanna keep Giannis and they wanna keep Giannis happy. Adrian Griffin is his choice. That’s who he wants.

[Charania] Sources: Doc Rivers is signing a contract through the 2026-27 season worth in the range of $40 million to be the Bucks’ head coach. Milwaukee is paying out former coaches Mike Budenholzer and Adrian Griffin, and now Rivers for next 3.5 years.
