I have the privilege of driving a 24 high altitude 4xe as a loaner while my 22 TRX gets a new passenger CV axle. I was pretty happy as I’m debating a 24 rubicon 392 as a secondary daily.
Nearing 48 hours with this Jeep and I have no idea why anyone would purchase one other than a beater for off-road. Sticker is $71,480 on the loaner.
Gripes:
-
It is by far the least comfortable road worthy vehicle I’ve driven, somehow worse than a fj cruiser. Discomfort in sub 30min commutes.
-
steering does not auto center after turning like most cars
-
wanders terrible at highways speeds as low as 60mph
-
wholly anemic powertrain that sounds as bad as current Toyota 4s.
-
hybrid system is intrusive and inconsistent
-
gauge cluster is cramped and messy with info. Hybrid needed the full digital dash in other Stellantis products
-
price is insane for something that feels like $30k + katzkins
-
worse fuel economy than our Tahoe rst with a 6.2L
What I like:
-
infotainment and dash seem decent. Physical buttons everywhere are nice.
This experience has pretty much sealed a big no to the 392 and has me searching for a low adm raptor r. Hell, maybe the Ranger raptor would be a good option once they actually show on lots.
I’m fully prepared for the hate. You Jeep people are insane to keep buying these.
For the haters:
