Marlo is annoying me. She’s clearly triggering. I know what it’s like to be 1. Adopted 2. Rejected or displaced by parents. My dad kicked me out at 15 without telling me and revamped my room into his office. My mom once put me on a ferry from PTOWN back to Boston because I was “ruining her vacation” with my 12 year old hormonal behavior. I’ve forgiven them but two horrible parents in that moment. Half of the memories I’ve blocked out because they’re painful and I’m working through EMDR. When you take on the responsibility to take care of kids you don’t just kick them out when times are tough. They’re kids. Marlo’s lucky to have them.
