Being too hot is preferable to being too cold.

The cold weather gets into your bones and it is impossible to get rid of and any form of artificial warmth you get ( from layers to central heating) feels uncomfortable and itchy. In the heat you can just wear a bikini and swim, have iced drinks or in the worst cases go somewhere with aircon. Cool clothes are also far more comfortable than the ones needed for anything below 5 Celcius. Being cold also completely zaps you of energy, and you just want to eat all the time, unless you live in a skiing region there is very little to do outside of your house. During the summer months you can swim/surf/kayak...and stay active even in the hottest days, it's also a great time to eat alfresco, go to barbecues and rooftop parties. Don't get me wrong, 40 degrees is deeply unpleasant but I prefer it to zero or below any day. ETA: this blew up in a way I had no idea it would. Can't possibly answer anyone, but clearing up some misconceptions about me.

  • I have lived in a few places that get super hot but this winter was my first spending it entirely in a cold/snowy/people think minus ten is normal sort of place. I have despised it. I have experienced February in Australia and February in Poland and I will take the extreme Australian heat any day.

  • Even when working, I would rather be sweaty without aircon than cold. I have worked outside in 40 degree weather, I know what it's like.

  • I fully admit I am not used to it and I have no clue how to layer properly or what to do for fun. I am also allergic to all wool. I need to up my game for next year.

  • Apparently it's not normal that the heater and / or fireplace make me itchy? Or that my hands are painful for hours after being outside, even with gloves?

  • A lot of you were very rude about something very trivial.

  • I legitimately prefer the heat and despise the cold. I am not pretending or have convinced myself. I hate the cold so much, I wish I could hibernate and never experience it.

I am out. Gave a good afternoon everyone.

Edit 2: I couldn't keep away, swimming is fucking free for a lot of people. It was for me for the majority of my life. I acknowledge that it is a privilege to live near a swimmable body of water.

I am sure my wife just cheated on me.

I (m40) think that Last night my wife (f43) cheated on me. We have been maried 10 years, together for 13 She went out to "buy some stuff for the home", which is weird, she hates doing that, and she went with a male freind I dont know. She stayed out for several hours. It was weird because she spent the day getting ready like it was a date. And when she was gone I grew suspicious and checked around the room and she had put on her sexy underwear meant just for our bedroom. I do all the childcare so I put the kids to bed. She showed up after and refused to tell me most of the details of the man she was with, and told me that in order to stay in our marraige she needed some time that was just for her. She only told me his first name, and when I thought back, I had seen that name pop up in her texts for the last several months. I didnt think anything of it at the time because its the name of a work friend she has and they often need to reach out to one another after hours for big projects. I think that she has been slowly building up the "courage" to cheat on me, and over the last 2 months our sex life has collapsed to zero and she has grown extre.ely hostile without any reason given, seemingly out of nowhere. Last week she told me she doesnt want to be married and it has nothing to do with me. (An outrageous assertion) Before everyone says I dont do enough as a husband, I do 100% of the childcare, shopping, housework and I work from home, though she is the primary breadwinner. I am emotionally available and mature, and I dont have a temper. I stay relatively fit and am attractive enough. I am not controlling, I dont object at all to her having male friends, but this screams affair. I am utterly shattered and I feel like I am dying. I dont even know how to talk to her about it. She has been so angry lately that communicating with her is a nightmare. This is a throw away account, I am too ashamed to post it to my main. I want to divorce her, but that would break apart my children's home. If I file for divorce would that make me the asshole?

For me it was CONTROL. When you go against this flying demon pretty early on, you can get killed in maybe 1 to 2 hits. Shooting the thing is beyond frustrating, even if I dialed down the level.

Curious what everyone’s else’s was. I mean I love a challenge but sometimes they suck all the fun out of it.

Dating someone who makes half as much money as you

I'm (27m) living with my girlfriend (27f) of several years and am thinking about marrying her. I make double what she makes in a year. We don't pay for any expenses the other has (car notes, gym memberships, student loans, etc), and on shared bills we split it 2/3rds, me and 1/3rd, her. I find it difficult navigating shared financial situations with her because I don't want to contribute more than my 2/3rds, and sometimes she doesn't have the money to put towards it.

Anyone else in my situation, and how do you navigate your relationship finances?

Edit: Holy Comments! I'm slowly reading through all of these and I appreciate all the feed back, but what seems to be the consensus is that I am looking at marriage and the relationship in the wrong way. I'm definitely going to have a conversation with my GF about this so that we smooth out any potential financial headaches or concerns before going to the next steps in our relationship.

Edit 2: First of all, thanks everyone for commenting/voting on this post, didn't think my simple post would blow up like it did. Second, I've read a lot of the comments, I have a new perspective about talking with her about financial stuff. I'm going to talk with her tonight about the idea of combining our finances and what she feels comfortable doing and start treating our finances as more of a collective than 2 individuals, and we will see what she wants to do. I'll answer a couple of questions I've seen in the comments, for better or for worse!

How much do we make? I make gross approximately +or- 100k depending on bonuses, she makes 40k. I understand that's not 2/3rds, 1/3rd I took some liberties for brevity rather than giving the exact %. I've got the exact amounts worked out to the dollar, and we both agreed on the amounts.

What do we do for work/how long do we work a week? We both work in construction, she works 40 hrs, where I work 50-60hrs a week, I'm a civil engineer and she is a office admin.

Are there plans for kids now/in the future? We do not have kids, but are in discussions about having them in the future. With her being the one for not wanting to stop working to take care of the kids full time.

What things do I pay for/she pay for? Our split, is the combined household bills; Rent, Utilities, & Groceries. I pay for all my own bills/fun stuff, plus almost all of the combined stuff like going out to eat, drinks, small event things (parking, ubers, fares, etcs) She pays for her own car bill, insurance, medical stuff, and her hobbies/fun activities. If a shared activity that is a large expense then we pay for our own portion of it (airplane tickets, concert tickets, etc.) If its "my activity" (example: A band I like but she only kinda likes) then I pay half of her portion as well as my own. If its "her activity" then I just pay for my portion. To me this wasn't weird, it just felt "fair" but I probably will be reconsidering this in the future.

AITAH for "robbing" my wife's affair partner which has now lead to his divorce?

I (32) have been married to my soon to be ex-wife (30), Madison, for four years. We are currently in counseling but it is not going to work.

About a year ago I found out she was having an affair by coming home to their clothes in our living room and sounds coming from our bedroom.

I lost it. I was getting my cricket bat out of the front closet when I stopped to think about consequences. I did not want to go to jail.

Instead I took all their clothes and left quietly. I went to a friend's house but not before throwing all the clothes in a McDonald's garbage can.

I turned off my phone and got shitfaced with my buddy. His wife hosed us off in the morning.

After I turned my phone back on I had dozens of calls and texts from Madison. First scared because she got my updated flight information. Then upset that I hadn't called her to let her know I was going to be coming home early. Then freaked out that the house had been broken into. Then crazy because she figured out it was me. They just got more deranged.

The guy she was with is five inches shorter than me and about 60 pounds lighter. So if he had taken my clothes it would be obvious.

He ended up calling his friend to go get his spare keys from his house. Unfortunately for him his wife smelled a rat and followed his friend back to my house. Where she saw him leaving in oversized clothes.

Long story short she took pictures and she had evidence of his infidelity. Which caused their prenup to be cancelled. Which cost him a lot of money. It is all one big giant shit show.

It took a couple of months but my wife convinced me to try and forgive her. We started going to counseling and we were working our way through it. Until recently.

In a counseling session she said that I was wrong to steal his wallet, phone, and car keys. She said that his divorce is costing him a lot of money and that I should have dealt with it in a more mature manner and that it was my fault.

I have never admitted to taking his stuff. To begin with I was afraid he might call the cops. Then I didn't want to give her ammunition in case she wanted a divorce. Now I just don't care.

I told her that her cheating was the reason her boyfriend is getting divorced. And that I hope his ex takes everything.

I am still not living at home. I have my own apartment and I'm filing for divorce. Now that I know how she feels it is kind of a slap in the face that she is blaming me for his divorce.
