Rant
So, how about this. If you cold call me, and I tell you that we LITERALLY just upgraded whatever system you are trying to sell me, in the past 3 months....
Don't ask me if it's OK for you to call me back at the end of the year.
If I just upgraded my camera system (which is what the call I just got was about), and that I specced it out to last for the next 4 years.
Don't ask me if you can call me back in 6 months, to talk about installing a new system.
That isn't going to work. All you are going to do is make me say "Nope, you are now not going to be in consideration for ANY upgrades we ever do in the future."
No, I may not have the FINAL decision on what is purchased here, but do you really think the IT manager is going to ignore an employee that he hired specifically because the amount of experience he has?
Come on now.
Oh, and then don't go ahead and dial my manager right after, who's office is sitting right next to mine, and try to pitch him the same thing. Especially when he just heard me on the phone with you.
That did get you black listed.
