LOCKS OF THE DAY NBA DFS 4/17

Solid night for me. cashed main slate and show down slate. warriors are a complete mess, glad we don't have to deal with that any more. Klay with the most insane game of his life. Hope you all had a great night tonight. I went a bit more in-depth in this video so hopefully that helps a bit more because rotations should be pretty key for tomorrow.

What's an NBA moment that feels fake, but isn't?

Malachi Flynn scoring 50 this year is one of the wildest examples for me. But as for some more examples:

- Damian Lillard's 5 pts 4 ast 18 reb game

- The Fort Wayne Pistons won the 1950 finals 19-18 by playing keep away (no shot clock)

- Kyle Korver got traded for a copy machine

- Ricky Davis tried to get a triple double by throwing the ball off his own backboard

[Wojnarowski] The league found that prior to the Raptors’ March 20 game, Jontay Porter gave confidential information about his own health status to an NBA bettor. Another NBA bettor Porter associated with made an $80,000 parlay proposition bet with an online sportsbook, winning $1.1 million.

NBA and WNBA players should not make the same salaries

Alot of talk the last few days that Caitlin Clark only makes $75k a year as a WNBA rookie, when the average NBA rookie makes about 10 million. However the popularity and revenue of these sports are not comparable.

  • *NBA average attendance: 18,324

  • *NBA revenue: 10 billion

  • *WNBA average attendance: 9,551

  • *WNBA revenue: appx 200 million, but the league is completely subsidized by the NBA team in the city, it does not make a profit on its own.

So what you have is a league that as of now completely relies on a profitable league to even exist, the players in this league are not going to be paid like the players who actually create revenue on their own.

The NBA DFS Build - NBA DFS Picks & Analysis for Wednesday (4/17)

The NBA DFS Build - NBA DFS Picks & Analysis for Wednesday (4/17)

Yesterday's picks were rock solid. I really liked the Kings and guys like Keon Ellis and Keegan Murray smashed. I cashed, but it'd have been a better night if I was on Zion.

Onto the next one. Here are my favorite plays for Wednesday's 2 game slate at DraftKings:

Top NBA DFS Picks for 4/17

  • PG: Trae Young ($9.2k)

  • SG: Kyle Lowry ($4.5k)

  • SF: DeMar DeRozan ($8.4k)

  • PF: Tobias Harris ($6.2k)

  • C: Joel Embiid ($11.1k)

It's the playoffs and Trae has been back for three games, so he shouldn't be limited and he'll come in guns a blazin'. Dejounte eats into his upside, but they have basically the same projection and Young has the better ceiling. If ownership isn't heavy I love Trae on this tiny slate.

Lowry is value. He should start and push for 30 minutes with this being a playoff game. Miami is not a good matchup, but there's a revenge narrative here and he's cheap.

DeRozan is a smash play. He's cheaper than Jimmy Butler and projects better. You never have to talk me into players facing the Hawks. He also has the second best projection of the entire slate and will get all the minutes he can handle.

Tobias is not a must, but he is going to play a lot and the defense won't focus on him with Joel and Maxey healthy. Both he and Lowry could benefit from that, but he's just a good price for his role. D'Andre Hunter is $300 cheaper and is also viable with Jalen Johnson dead.

Joel is the top spend up of the slate. He isn't 100% necessary given the slate size, and his matchup isn't good. However, he has the highest ceiling of anyone available to us.

I probably prefer Vuc as a points per dollar spend, but if you want upside (and possibly low-owned upside), Joel has to be on your radar.

My Strategy for Wednesday

While Embiid is the top play as far as upside goes, I am going to hope that he's owned and be under-weight on him. Trust your gut with that, but he's had knee issues, the Heat are not a good matchup, and this DFS environment isn't ideal.

Fading Joel feels bad, but I want as much exposure to the Hawks game as I can get. It has the faster pace, less defense, and higher total. It should be chalky across the board, so just make sure you're getting different enough.

I'll hopefully do a video later where I break things down a bit more. Thanks for reading and good luck!
