James Carville
I saw this weekend that Maureen Dowd has a piece with Bulwark friend James Carville. One quote is really bothering me because it feels like a manufactured issue. He says, “A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females” dominating the culture of his party. “Don’t drink beer. Don’t watch football. Don’t eat hamburgers. This is not good for you.’ The message is too feminine: ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet. You’ve got to eat your peas.’
Huh? Who is saying this? Who are these preachy females (gross, by the way)? Joe Biden sure isn’t saying any of this. I don’t think Kamala Harris has either but you’d barely know she exists except for everyone telling us how unpopular she is. So what is he talking about?
This is NOT a politically moderate subreddit! It IS a political subreddit for moderately expressed opinions and civil discourse. If you are looking for civility, moderation and tolerance come on in!
A place to discuss Sam Harris and to have difficult conversations with civility.
From The Hill:
"What went wrong is just stupid wokeness. Don't just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Wash. I mean, this 'defund the police' lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln's name off of schools. I mean that — people see that," Carville said.
"It's just really — has a suppressive effect all across the country on Democrats. Some of these people need to go to a 'woke' detox center or something," he added. "They're expressing a language that people just don't use, and there's backlash and a frustration at that."

"A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females" influencing the party's direction, Carville told Dowd.
"'Don't drink beer. Don't watch football. Don't eat hamburgers. This is not good for you,'" he said, describing a sort of condescension he believes has turned away some male voters from the Democratic Party.
"If you listen to Democratic elites — NPR is my go-to place for that — the whole talk is about how women, and women of color, are going to decide this election," he said. "I'm like: 'Well, 48% of the people that vote are males. Do you mind if they have some consideration?'"
I think he is.

Bro has been a political seer since my first presidential election, and I'm grateful to hear his view on YouTube. I wish I took a class from him when I was going to UNO, but I think he was at Tulane then. He's my mascot for politics in LA.

A subreddit for those who gravitate to the middle. We look for news and topics that can be discussed in a more moderate light.
Thoroughly enjoying tonight's pod with Tim and James Carville. I mean, aside from the "thank g-d we have a chance now" tone of relief, listening to two political animals gleefully contemplating the excitement of it all is awesome. Literally Christmas in July for the two of them.
