Upvote content that contributes to the discussion. Downvote when it doesn't.
Don't downvote or report posts solely because you disagree, because you don't like the users or because of the team flair the other person has.
2
Keep it respectful
Let's aim to be a safe, inclusive, and respectful community - even when we disagree with each other.
Homophobic, racist, sexist, and insulting comments will be removed. Repeated or severe infringements may lead to a ban.
Mods have discretion to remove posts or comments that are potentially defamatory, libellious or inflammatory.
Think of moderators as referees - if we warn you twice about something in quick succession or you severely breach these rules - expect a ban.
3
Content must be about Aus/NZ football
All content should relate to Australian or New Zealand Football (at any level and of any kind).
We acknowledge that politics and football are intertwined.
Mods reserve the right to remove posts or comments that become primarily about politics and not football, or from users with no/limited participation in the subreddit.
4
No low effort content
No AI created images or ChatGPT conversations, FIFA/EA Sports ultimate team lineups, standalone polls, or text posts with link shorteners and no context. these rarely generate meaningful discussion.
Memes are permitted at the discretion of the moderators. Context helps.
Upvote parties for significant events are at moderator discretion.
New accounts or accounts with low karma will have their initial posts reviewed by moderators. This is to discourage bad faith users and bots.
5
Post titles reflect the content + no CAPS
Post titles should reflect the content of the post fairly without sensationalising or editorialising.
Post titles shouldn't be in ALL CAPS - sledge threads and upvote parties excluded.
6
Self-promotion 1 in 10 rule and/or spam
Self-promotion is permitted when users actively participate in the subreddit.
The ratio of self-promotion posts to genuine participation shouldn't exceed 1 promo post per 10 participation posts. Whilst we welcome original content, we are trying to cultivate a community here not an advertising board.
If mods think this is an issue, it will be addressed privately via modmail.
Spam is always unwelcome and will result in a ban.
7
Match Threads hierarchy
Match threads have minimum standards to be adhered to.
We rank threads in the following order:
user-made threads containing lineups, match details and actively updated with key match events posted at least 15 minutes prior to kick-off
actively updated bot-run posts (e.g. by u/MatchBread)
Mod scheduled static posts
'No effort' threads for live matches without a thread
If better quality threads exist, please report the lower quality one for mods to remove.
