The Guardian does NBA articles?

[–]Spursbradrthtyj 1680 points1681 points  (50 children)

You know it’s bad when even the Brits are piling on you

[–]alohareddit 800 points801 points  (40 children)

They’re just still bitter about the year 1776

[–]RocketsPapiGoneGamer 418 points419 points  (26 children)

The colonists beating the British was the equivalent of an 8-seed beating the 1-seed in seven

[–][deleted] 311 points312 points  (17 children)

the colonists defeating the brits is like the 8 seed beating the 1 seed when the 1 seed has their star players injured because rudy gobert was beating tf outta them during the series

[–]JazzVordeo 215 points216 points  (8 children)

The US owes it's independence to Rudy Gobert. And Evan Fournier a bit.

[–]dont_shoot_jr 81 points82 points  (3 children)

George Washington introduced mandatory vaccination against smallpox and tried to ban prostitutes to prevent Fournier

[–]JazzVordeo 101 points102 points  (2 children)

Fun fact: the US war for independence actually started a few months early because one Southern revolutionary named Temetrius kept flashing firearms meant for the war in front of the British, despite having repeatedly been asked not to.

[–]Sunssamurairocketshark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His minutemen had their muskets pointed at the revolutionaries' carriage

[–]76ersPuppazz 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Brit here, I still fucking love Joel, for my sins, happy to see Harden walk if he wants the max, Maxey is my fantasy. Regret losing Jimmy for tobias/simmons. That game 6/7 was so hard to watch. My wife (a non/nba fan) even got offended by the lack of any real effort I feel like Jo needs a non-stripper/flopper/choker influence to play at his best. Fuck knows that:s not the beard.

[–]Mavericksthiffusedinner 151 points152 points  (1 child)

[–]Raptorsdread-it 199 points200 points  (7 children)

"Tobias Harris over me?!"

[–]76ersPendraflare59 63 points64 points  (6 children)

I think it’s more accurate to say they chose Brett Brown and Ben Simmons over him.

[–]Raptorshamdogthecat 19 points20 points  (3 children)

That isn't any better

[–]Spiritual-Zombie6815 35 points36 points  (0 children)

And how wrong they were to do that

[–]Australiainefekt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's more accurate to watch the video of Jimmy Butler literally dismissing this notion...

[–]BullsNCBaddict 278 points279 points  (16 children)

Ditto for the Bulls & Minny.

[–]Raptorscjcfman 382 points383 points  (15 children)

Uh, I doubt Minnesota could have kept him lol

[–]BullsNCBaddict 129 points130 points  (12 children)

If the org didn’t baby KAT, sure that he would’ve stayed. Jimmy just wants to win because he got the DAWG in him

[–]TimberwolvesSharcbait 85 points86 points  (1 child)

That team had way deeper issues than KAT v Jimmy.

Teague was overpaid and washed, Crawford was 100 years old, Thibs didn't modernize his gameplan at all, our whole offense was guys hitting tough shots, and we refused to defend the 3pt line even though GSW was running the league by shooting 3s. We didn't have a real POBO to run the show, so we woulda needed to trade KAT with Thibs being the only one with a real vision. If we kept Jimmy I think we were never gonna be better than 3rd in the West in the era when the Rockets and Warriors were the 2 best teams in the league.

[–]TimberwolvesMegaZambam 81 points82 points  (5 children)

The issue wasn't KAT. Once they paid Wiggins they weren't able to give Jimmy the contract he wanted.

[–]Heat302born 20 points21 points  (0 children)

ANDREW WIGGINS OVER ME!?

[–]76ersPSUDolphins 2710 points2711 points  (185 children)

Our sub is the worst it has been since I joined it forever ago.

[–]Raptorsthissiteisbroken 1341 points1342 points  (74 children)

Someone on the Raptors sub said that the team has been going down ever since we signed Masai. Hundreds of upvotes too. So I guess our subs have something in common.

[–][BOS] Jayson Tatumjpaxlux 1345 points1346 points  (30 children)

"You know, this franchise was better when we had no rings"

[–]Tampa Bay RaptorsRaptors2017champs 507 points508 points  (25 children)

That Raptors sub is mad cringe nowadays.

[–]Raptorsthebiggesthater420 334 points335 points  (13 children)

Raptors sub is pretty reflective of Toronto youth in general lol. They are mostly pretty cringe

[–]RaptorsOrimori24 232 points233 points  (6 children)

It's because they took the fountain out of the Eaton Centre, no where for kids to mall rat and learn the truths of the world, like which fast food has free refills.

[–]RaptorsSome-Token-Black-Guy 33 points34 points  (2 children)

The kids today are claiming Osmow's is top tier shawarma, that's when I lost hope for them

[–]MavericksBlackWhiteCoke 65 points66 points  (2 children)

Raptor fans always be posting Scottie Barnes 11 points, 3 rebound highlight reels to r/nba

[–]Canadajaydogggg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To be fair it's pretty much one person posting all our raptor posts , but ya it's really annoying

[–]Mac_Gold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Toronto as a whole is never happy. In a span of a week it went from “Leafs going to the Cup” to “Trade the core four and fire Dubas”

[–]RaptorsCannabisPrime2 36 points37 points  (1 child)

Its obnoxious like new money.

[–]RaptorsPrayForMojo_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It always was. At least 50% of all posts there are some of the most idiotically moronic things you’ve ever read.

[–]ClippersProMikeZagurski 32 points33 points  (2 children)

I mean no rings but they had those cool jerseys in the 90's.

[–]Raptorsnavto 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In 2020 we had both. (Had the Dino as an alternate.)

[–]RaptorsOk-Discipline9998 229 points230 points  (14 children)

Fuck that sub man. I don't need more negativity in my life

[–]23copingthroughlife 123 points124 points  (5 children)

Them new fans that joined when you won a ring, was only there cause the ring. They weren’t there for the whole ride and not ready for the bumpy roads

You can tell who’s been watching NBA for longer and who has not this way

[–]Raptorsperoper7 43 points44 points  (3 children)

You aren’t wrong but it isn’t all on the fans being bandwagons. These past few years since the ring have been really chaotic on all sides, with Tampa and all that.

Goes to show that Lowry & Demar held it tf down while they were here, practically no drama.

[–]23copingthroughlife 11 points12 points  (1 child)

You are right, but most subs have gotten worst with the Bandwagons, not that they are the only problem, just that, most problems comes from that.

Also, not all bandwagons are bad, most are good, just that more unhinged people are able to expose themselves and they are loud

[–]PistonsEvilLibrarians 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dwayne Casey was a good locker room coach

[–]BucksSecureCucumber 35 points36 points  (4 children)

Reddit is not a great place in general if you value your mental health.

[–]HeatTheMightyJD 66 points67 points  (6 children)

Our sub wanting to tank the second play-in was disgusting.

[–][MIA] Dwyane Wadeantibendystraw 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Yeah that was so fucking embarrassing. But there’s a lot of lack of faith in our guys in the sub, even looking past all the post season hype, there’s a lot of like “im just happy we made it this far” which is fine to say once you’re out of the tournament. But I’m not that type of fan. If they’re still in it, they’re in it and I can see the path towards winning it all. I don’t want consolation.

Doubt feeds heat culture so fuck it.

With that said. Have a very JIMBO day.

[–]CelticsHypatiaRising 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I don't see how they aren't all in at this point lol. The team is basically playing to its max potential at the perfect time. And you know those guys are going to be going hard constantly.

[–]SunsSnooMacarons9592 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Saw that LOL....don't hear a peep from those guys now 🤣

Or they are now just shamelessly joining the bandwagon again....and yes I do consider those fans to be bandwagoners honestly.

[–]Raptorsrealsomalipirate 29 points30 points  (2 children)

Please link that, I need a good laugh rn.

[–]LakersPay4Convenience 15 points16 points  (3 children)

It ain't just your sub man, after every bad game AD has or every loss during the regular season; there was always some doofus post about trade Russ + 2 FRP for Hield/Turner or "the AD trade was a mistake."

All team subreddits are cesspools of delusion.

[–][SAS] Boris DiawThunderhorse74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's just fans on every sub. Things go wrong, the nephews come out of the woodwork. Generally when things are going well, its a fun time, but there is some crazy shit going down on the Spurs sub now. There is an influx of people who never post and proposing trades for every half washed star NBA vet in the league. The obligatory "Pop can fix Ben Simmons" posts, etc.

Just the way it goes.

[–]henry_why416 8 points9 points  (1 child)

What post? I haven’t seen that.

[–]MavericksHispanicAtTehDisco 97 points98 points  (13 children)

team specific subs are legitimately the worst imo, it’s always reactionary bullshit normally

r/mavericks makes me want to claw my eyes out. during the season you’d think christian wood was prime shaq the way mfs talked about him after he puts up 15 and lets up 15 in garbage time vs bums

[–]76ersExpectoPerfecto 50 points51 points  (7 children)

I like to go to team subs to see what fanbases think about their teams and I can say, anecdotally, that basically every team sub goes to shit after losses or controversy.

That said, the clear divide between Mavs fans and Luka fans at /r/mavericks is really something when you guys are losing. Like, I don't think your sub sinks as low as others, but the infighting is an interesting twist. lol

[–]MavericksHispanicAtTehDisco 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That said, the clear divide between Mavs fans and Luka fans

100% i love luka but it’s so obvious some people on there only knew the mavs even existed when we drafted him

like there were people who legitimately called our 1 point loss to the bucks the worst loss in franchise history like you’re on crack

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

This is something I've seen coming for years now. I'm 32 and a lifelong Lakers fan. You play for the Lakers, I root for you. You go play elsewhere, I'll still support you (like when Shaq got traded) but I'm still a Lakers fan

My brother turns 24 this year. He's a "player fan." He loves all the stars basically, but has multiple Kyrie jerseys so I think that's his main guy. He roots for whoever they play for. 2018 was a bad year with LeBron in LA and Kyrie in Boston (he's a LeBron fan too) and was supporting both teams while I would rage at him that you can't be a Lakers AND Celtics fan. He didn't give a shit lol. He's also addicted to superteams, he loves the Heatles or the short-lived Nets and wants more of that while I'm good with classic 1-2 punch teams

The Lakers sub took a turn when LeBron signed. There was an influx of anti-Kobe posts, and that was the genesis of "fire every coach/GM and trade/cut every player not named LeBron" posts. AD oddly doesn't seem to have the classic fanboy following, but adding Westbrook not only was a bad fit on the court, but it brought HIS fanboys to a sub already stocked with LeBron fanboys and it just became a mess. A massive spike in "trade AD" posts and pretty much a daily war of LBJ fanboys vs Brodie fanboys with literally everybody else caught in the middle

Not surprised at all to see it's like this in other team subs. Now that Kyrie is a Mav I bet the sub degraded even more. I anticipate if he re-signs that it'll become Team Kyrie vs Team Luka before long, and Cuban/Kidd and the other players will be ripped daily

It's sad, all it does is bring down the enjoyment of the sport

[–]MavericksLightsSoundAction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah we like quadrupled in size when we got Luka and that changed a lot, then we got Kyrie, wew lord. it’s a wildly different sub than the one i joined 12 years ago for the chip. I can’t do game threads anymore. MFFL but damn we are tough to be around.

[–][DAL] Jerome Whiteheadlordb4 5 points6 points  (1 child)

There were two types of posters in r/mavericks this past season: Those who thought Wood was awesome and those who understood something about team basketball. It was painful.

[–]eexxiitt 237 points238 points  (18 children)

Just wait until steph starts to really decline. The warriors sub will be the most toxic nba sub of all time.

[–]LandooooXTrvls 93 points94 points  (13 children)

Lol omg! If they don’t get a replacement for Steph you’re gonna see a lot of angry “warriors” fans. You’re gonna see a lot of them migrate elsewhere.

It’s already kinda toxic on that sub and they’re one year removed from a championship lmao.

[–]Warriorsthecheapseatz 66 points67 points  (5 children)

Kinda toxic? At the start of the season the sub was pretty much in lock step that this should be Greens last year due to punching Poole because you can't do that to teammates but by the playoffs you would get down voted for saying that Green. Hell I was down voted for saying Green needs to stop the stomps, kicks and acting like a child when he gets ejected

[–]TylerDurdensAlterEgo[🍰] 27 points28 points  (3 children)

Reading the Warriors sub the past two years you'd never know they won a championship. So much hatred

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Is basically a sub for Steph fans and Anti Laker/Lebron fans. At this very moment they are losing their minds over Austin Reaves getting foul Calls.

[–]WarriorsRushDynamite 15 points16 points  (4 children)

There is no replacement for Steph, it's going to be a fucking nightmare. I'm sad it's coming but having watched this team since the 80’s I'm more happy I got to experience it. I just wish my Grandfather who passed the love of sports and the Warriors on to me could have seen what they became. Unfortunately, the nephews will scream the loudest.

[–]76ersPapiShoelo 139 points140 points  (13 children)

Well Philadelphia Sports Radio is the worst in the country so at least we're consistent

[–]76ersPSUDolphins 183 points184 points  (8 children)

A bunch of boomers that only care about the Eagles and Phillies that try to ram their uneducated Sixers opinions down your throat while knowing fully they haven't watched more than 5 games during the season.

[–]76ersPapiShoelo 39 points40 points  (1 child)

They still want us to get Josh Smith😅 God for years

[–]Bullsthisguy012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're kiddinglmao what the fuck

[–]Jazzbrightblade13 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Wait, y'all watch the games?

[–]BucksA2Eaton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s games? I thought this was a game of zones sub.

[–]DomDomRevolution 19 points20 points  (1 child)

I was on a road trip and the driver had the radio on at 4am. They said trade Joel for Brunson Barrett and 3 late firsts. I almost duck and rolled out of the car

[–]76ersPapiShoelo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have been rolling right next to you 😅

[–]76erssandalf42 31 points32 points  (2 children)

It’s been really disheartening. Like, worse than the playoff loss lol. If we’re all this stupid, then what’s the point?

[–]Warriorsfutureslave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we’re all this stupid, then what’s the point?

That’s one of the most succinct existentialist crises I’ve ever seen. I want it on a t shirt

[–]CelticsAbortionCrow 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Feels like most subs these days. Celtics are in the ECF and every setback it seems like people start praying for the team plane to go down. Like people legitimately angry for no reason at all.

The year the Celtics won like 25 games the sub was just a straight up vibe factory. Now it's just a bunch of dudes who use it as a place to vent and project their shitty lives. Crazy because these are the good years. I can't imagine what it's gonna be like when the Tatum and Brown years come to a close.

[–]NBAJordanwolf98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s why I only go over there when we win . You would think the team smacked their families the way they talk about them when we lose

[–]Sunsiamadragan 42 points43 points  (16 children)

I feel like there doesn't need to be so much doom and gloom.

The 6ers only have 62M committed for 2024-2025, although I assume maxey will take a chunk of the cap. At worst it's one mediocre year and then you can rebuild around Embiid through FA

[–]BucksLeMickeyMice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably won't be much available in FA in '24

[–]Trail BlazersStrong_Confection628 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Same in ours.

[–]CelticsshotcaIler 14 points15 points  (1 child)

[–]BullsNCBaddict 19 points20 points  (6 children)

Sigh. The Guardian’s actual news articles are usually good, but its opinion columns are PANTS. Clickbait galore.

[–]NBAZombeavers5Bags 22 points23 points  (0 children)

All opinion columns suck.

Everyone dressing up opinion as news is a major cause of the breakdown of truth in modern media and is the only way some of the stupidest talking points out there have hung onto relevance.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Some atrociously out-of-touch ones as well - like when they invited the Argentine foreign minister to give Argentina’s perspective on the Falklands war on one of its anniversaries or something

[–]Air_Enthusiast 355 points356 points  (11 children)

I’m so sleep deprived and I thought The Guardian just told people to burn Philadelphia to the ground

[–]Pasvinkespeniokvapas 30 points31 points  (1 child)

It wasn't great, but losing game 7 away is far from humiliation. Talk to Suns. They were humiliated 2 years in a row

[–]Warriorsmordakka 17 points18 points  (2 children)

humiliating playoff exit

they lost in 7 games against a higher seed though? Not very embarassing.

[–]HawksLightning_Warrior 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t think losing in the Celtics in 7 games is embarrassing in it of itself. But the choke at the end of game 6 at home and then getting blown out of the water in game 7 is certainly embarrassing for a team that was supposed to be a title contender, especially when they’ve choked in the playoffs before (multiple times against us in 2021 for example).

[–]NBAFlexicanAmerican 36 points37 points  (1 child)

Cracks me up when people write dumb shit like this. I bet old dude couldn't handle ten minutes of people making fun of him, but he's out here talking.

[–]76ersBradyReas 181 points182 points  (8 children)

I used to assume I was in r/nba when people are shitting on the sixers, now I assume I’m in r/Sixers lmao

[–]Alternative_Lov 67 points68 points  (5 children)

It’s all emotion and reactions at this point

Just like all those people talking about blow up the Celtics a few years ago. You can improve the roster and get a better coach and things can look very different, but blowing it up is stupid when you have an MVP in his prime and a guy like Maxey who can keep improving

[–]San Diego Clipperscactusmaster69420 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep people were saying a lot of this about the Bucks before they beat the Nets

[–]76ersretroracer33 48 points49 points  (0 children)

this reads like a best of r/nba. what an awful article.

[–]CelticsTotal_Customer_6627 115 points116 points  (40 children)

Jesus Sixers fans, y’all okay?

[–]DomDomRevolution 186 points187 points  (28 children)

Been better

[–]CelticsTotal_Customer_6627 36 points37 points  (23 children)

At least Doc is gone and the bones for a great team are there. Healthy Embiid + Maxey could get nuts

[–]76ersWodude 73 points74 points  (7 children)

We’re mostly downtrodden cuz of the lack of energy and effort shown by harden and especially embiid. That and how tight our assets are in order to make any non-coach roster adjustment that might help the team.

So it’s just a tough spot to be in and a lot of wavering trust in the core atm

Or maybe that’s just me I dunno. I’m just some random dude lol

[–]76ersmeezy-yall 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would say at the very least you’re less of a random dude and more of a random wodude

[–]76ersJohnnygunnz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly angry because it kinda feels like all that time of "The Process" is now over, and we got nothing from it. Is the window closed? Nah, Embiid can still win one. But he can't do it alone, and Harden wasn't it.

The management of the Sixers just destroyed this team. Hinkie left them players and assets, and Colangelo wasted assets on nothing and never hit on a single draft pick. Then, Brand comes in and finished off the rest of the assets for Tobias and Butler, only to let Butler walk for nothing and giving Tobias the leagues worst contract. Brand never hit on a draft pick either, in fact, the one pick he would have hit on, Mikal Bridges, was immediately traded for Zhaire Smith who played something like 13 games in Philly over 2 seasons. Bridges mom worked for the damn Sixers, man!

So many horrible mismanagement steps and now we've got nothing left. Harden might walk and it feels like if they can't sign a legit PG this year, they're going to be a 5-8 seed at best. Embiid will be 30 this year and most big men don't have career years beyond 34 years old, so that window is closing, too. We're screwed unless Morey makes some big, smart moves.

[–]Buckstyagu001 10 points11 points  (3 children)

When? In 2001?

[–]DomDomRevolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey guy, fuck you. I appreciate the joke. But also fuck you. In all seriousness, 2017 was probably the last time I had actual hope about this team. Every other year was me being gaslight by an abusive franchise.

[–]76ersTassietiger1 23 points24 points  (5 children)

Not sure I've ever seen Sixers fanbase so down mate. The subreddit is a mess and everyone I see talking about it is full doom and gloom

[–]QuantumFreakonomics 18 points19 points  (4 children)

They trusted the process, and the process stomped on their faces whenever it mattered most.

[–]76ersAllenMcnabb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Idk honestly I kinda feel numb to all Sixers related news. This team ripped my soul out and jerked off on it

[–]76ers0ctologist 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Did you watch game 7 lol

[–]dolotala 168 points169 points  (68 children)

We have the MVP, gotta think you can find some way to take another shot at the title.

[–]76erstcourts45 222 points223 points  (36 children)

Idk it's pretty tough when you finally realize our MVP has no heart. Dude getting boxed out by Marcus smart repeatedly and visibly quits playing with almost an entire half left of an elimination game.

I'm so mad at Embiid I can't even think about how I'd fix this team. Harden can GTFO for starters

[–]WizardsDig-Duglett 94 points95 points  (20 children)

embiid needs some of that pat riley miami conditioning in him. guy is way too gassed to finish games down the stretch and the celtics def exploited that.

After watching jokic in game one I really just want embiid to go spend 3 months running in denver

[–]PelicansBigBeagleEars 11 points12 points  (5 children)

Y’all gonna have to Forrest Gump his ass across America a couple times this summer

[–]76erssamuel33334 23 points24 points  (4 children)

I honestly feel like training in Denver is just op af and everyone should do it or try to simulate it

[–]76erstcourts45 59 points60 points  (10 children)

Idk I don't think it was even physical this year. Dude just gives up when things start to go badly

[–]CelticsAffectLast9539 46 points47 points  (4 children)

Well, those two things go hand in hand. Guys with the grit and determination to put in the work to get in peak condition tend to be the same guys with the grit and determination to play hard in games. Not many dudes who are constantly grinding to get the most out of their bodies while also giving up and not trying mid-game.

[–]76erstcourts45 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Yea good point. I've been so happy to have a high level player that I've been making excuses for him for way too long. Dude just doesn't get it

[–]CelticsE10DIN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really feels like he doesn’t. I love his game but goddamn at what point do people start to blame him for this shit? Doesn’t seem like it’s happening yet. At some point he’s the common thread.

[–]LakersPay4Convenience 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I think a lot of Game 7 was a combination of his shot not falling and getting hunted all game by Tatum.

Dude got shook and stopped trying.

[–]76erstcourts45 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Yea but even in game 6 it felt like he just stopped playing hard when they called that bullshit goaltend on him. And that was in the first half

[–]LakersPay4Convenience 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know what happened in Game 6 that upset him.

[–][WAS] Tomas SatoranskyI_WANT_RISOTTO 17 points18 points  (7 children)

Didnt Harden take a pay cut? To build a championship roster?

[–]Warriorsadequatehorsebattery 53 points54 points  (3 children)

If the NBA had an all-choke-under-pressure team, Embiid and Harden would both be on it and Doc would be the coach. It was always crazy to think that this was the trio to lead a championship run.

But Embiid is still a great player, he just needs another great player around him who will push harder when things get touch instead of fading away and isn't afraid to push Embiid when his attitude goes south.

I hate to rub it in, but the Sixers with Embiid and Jimmy Butler might have multiple rings at this point.

[–]RocketsDaniiiiii 109 points110 points  (8 children)

Why stop there eh, nuke the city into ashes!

[–]Netsnjpaul 55 points56 points  (4 children)

They already bombed it in the 80s.

[–]Trail Blazers1850ChoochGator 35 points36 points  (3 children)

An English “news outlet” wanting to burn down a Philadelphia sports organization? This has to be payback for 1776.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (10 children)

The Guardian in r/nba ????

[–][DET] Grant Hillaaden08 24 points25 points  (8 children)

Next we will post daily mail

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (7 children)

I don’t want to see what the Daily Mail would say about Ja Morant 😭

Honestly if a black premier league player did half of that… the Daily Mail would single-handedly set race relations back decades

[–]oussa_ 11 points12 points  (5 children)

Raheem Sterling used to get nasty stuff written about him because he did terrible things like buy his mom a house

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Remember when they had a go at him because they said his gun tattoo was glorifying violence - when it actually had a date next to it and was about his father passing away in a shooting

[–]oussa_ 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Yeah it was disgusting, if anything needs burning down its the UK tabloids

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

100% agree with you on that

Done so much damage to this country - practically caused Brexit if we’re being honest

[–][MIN] Ricky RubioNxc06 23 points24 points  (3 children)

Ah yes trade Joel Embiid. You'll get a lot of stuff. Hell, You might even get a player who is, one day, as good as Joel Embiid!

[–]76ersHay-blinken 39 points40 points  (1 child)

I don't think there's a need to blow anything up. Maybe just make some trades and draft players over the years and see what happens. Dancers are nice too. I don't want to blow them up. Franklin....maybe.

[–]turnipham 6 points7 points  (1 child)

It's so bizarre for a British newspaper like the Guardian to be commenting on NBA basketball in a very specific US city's team.

[–]iwontreadorwrite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Guardian?

i was surprised myself

[–]MavericksHookahDongcic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Guardian? Lol.

[–]76ersHaggardSlacks78 20 points21 points  (19 children)

Boston is a horrendous matchup for the Sixers. They have a dozen wings that give us fits. Al Horford is Embiid cryptonite. We have nobody to D up Tatum or Brown. And Embiid hasn’t figured out how to handle their double teams. Add to that, Embiid and Harden haven’t figured out that they aren’t going to get postseason whistles. That said, I think if we were able to avoid Boston we’d be in the ECF this year. So why blow it up? We are right there. Just need some roster tweaks and a coach who knows to take a timeout when the other team goes on a 20-2 run

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

There is always some eastern conference team that seems to have just the right talent to beat the sixers in the 2nd round. Raptors, Hawks and Heat also beat the Sixers before in the 2nd round.

Also Embiid should have figured out how to handle double teams this far into his career. And his injury history is a big factor too.

I don’t know if the Sixers should blow it up. But They can probably get maximum return for Embiid now if they decide to trade him.

[–]76ersHaggardSlacks78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched Barkley, Iverson and even Reggie White shipped out of this town for nothing in return. Can’t imagine we’ll be a contender without embiid. Even if you don’t like his game and think Jokic (and some others) is better, he’s at a top 5 player no matter how you slice it. You don’t trade these guys. You will never get equal value in return. Your comment about the other teams. We coulda/shoulda beat them too.

[–][POR] Wesley MatthewsTheManWhoNeverWas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The knee-jerk reactions to a seven game, second round playoff series loss are comical. Wow, what a failure, blow it all up.

[–]76erscobbicus333 15 points16 points  (0 children)

if you want the sixers to completely rebuild you are an idiot and should be ignored. Miss me with any disingenuous or flat out ignorant comparisons to the team a decade ago. You out yourself as a child who can't actually remember that era or a liar if you compare the two.
