In the video from this clip, interview on the court after the game. Embiid was asked about the Dudley incident.

This shit talk is great, but once again the Sixers won on the court. Game 5 in philly with their home crowd will certainly be interesting.

Tyronn Lue cuts him off - “A book? Jared Dudley?... Who cares?”

Oof

Context: Jared Dudley released a new, 41-page mini-book on Kindle about his experience winning a title in the NBA bubble and said this about the Clippers and PG:

"We hear some of those guys talking about how they’re the team to beat in LA. It’s fine if Kawhi says stuff like that. He’s defending a championship. We don’t trip if someone like Patrick Beverley is talking trash; that’s how he feeds his family. We get it. We respect the hustle.

But we think it’s disrespectful for Paul George, who hasn’t won, to put himself on the level of Bron and AD. This motivates us. When we see those guys around the compound, we don’t really kick it with them. The one exception of course is Markieff, whose twin brother, Marcus, is on the Clippers. This probably keeps tensions from boiling over."

Why did everyone get so mad at Jared Dudley for saying something that's true?

Why did everyone get so mad at Jared Dudley for saying something that's true?

He just said what most educated fans already understood. Ben is great in transition but not great in the halfcourt. In today's NBA you need to be able to run a PnR to be great in the halfcourt (or be James Harden and just shoot in people's faces).

Dudley never said he was a better player and he didn't say Simmons was a bad player. He just correctly analyzed his game. And Ben still has plenty of time to improve too.

After Jared Dudley raised concerns about injury due to a quick restart, Patrick Beverly responded with “Again basketball is a year-round sport. We don’t wanna hear that sh*t. Check 🏀”. Jared Dudley played more games after the restart than Patrick Beverly.

Thought it was another interesting wrinkle into the Lakers/Clippers rivalry over the course of the year.

Couldn’t agree more! NBA should adopt SOME of these rules… Players are manipulating these rules WAY to much!

Dudley agreeing with this:

FIBA rules are perfect. Less time, less reviews, more physical. Start a game and get it over with in 2 hours or less. If only the national basketball association could get a clue.

Fan replied

The players are smart, taking advantage of a broken system. They need to stop getting rewarded, then the manipulation will end.

More from Dudley:

I tell Refs this all the time.. Dont call it even if it is officially a foul.. Players will get mad then adjust! Refs listen to the league, has to start from the Top

Man of the people lol

Jared Dudley on Ben Simmons 2 years ago: "Once you get him into halfcourt, he's average"

From the 2018-2019 season during the Sixers-Nets playoff season:

While speaking with reporters, the Nets veteran discussed 76ers point guard Ben Simmons and provided his opinion of the 2019 All-Star. "Ben Simmons is a great player in transition," Dudley said according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. "And once you get him into halfcourt, he's average."

Simmons, though, doesn’t take much stock in Dudley’s criticism. Ask Thursday for his thoughts on the comments, Simmons said simply “That’s coming from Jared Dudley.”

Despite Simmons's many accolades in his short career, including winning the 2018 Rookie of the Year, the second-year star's refusal to take jump shots gives this idea much more credence than his stat lines would suggest. Simmons averaged 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists on the season while shooting 56.3% from the field, but he's notoriously bad for floor spacing because defenses just pack the paint and play off of him when he has the ball, daring him to shoot from distance.

[Aldridge] Jared Dudley on what is the biggest obstacle to harmony in the bubble, culture-wise: "Not being around a female companion"

Article

And Dudley didn’t mince words when asked what he thought was going to be the biggest obstacle to harmony in the bubble, culture-wise.

“I think not being around a female companion,” Dudley said.

“Your people who are married, you have your wives,” he said. “I won’t see my wife for seven weeks. When’s the last time it’s ever happened? We’re not going to Iraq for war, or doing anything. But for us, it’s you not seeing your wife and kids. I think that’s a huge shock. Even AAU basketball – you go for your week and you go home, right? I don’t care how you do it. … I think (some) people, you have your girlfriends, and I think people that are just ‘free-floaters,’ as I call them. Not being able to have that for that long of a stretch. Let’s just be honest. Even after the first round, you can have people come in. (But) they have to quarantine for a week. What wife, girlfriend, or companion wants to be in a hotel room by themselves for a week?”

Jared Dudley: The Clippers had by far the worst team chemistry out of any team I've ever been on

Dudley was on the 'In the Zone' Podcast, hosted by Chris Broussard when he talked about how terrible the team chemistry was in Los Angeles. They would never hang out, never go out to eat together, and just the overall dysfunction was toxic. He went to go as far as to say that he'd bet money that the CP3-DJ-Blake core will never even make the WCF.

Jared Dudley comes out swinging. When you hold a player to 2 points on 22 possessions, I say, “talk your truth!”

Guarded by Dudley in Game 1:

Ben Simmons 2 pts on 22 possessions

Mike Scott 0 pts on 11 possessions

Boban Marjanovic 0 pts on 7 poss

Joel Embiid 0 pts on 3 poss

Total: 2 pts on 43 possessions
