Matt Rhule Went Full Herb Brooks After Michigan Beat Nebraska

Matt Rhule must be a fan of the movie "Miracle."

Rhule is entering his second season in Lincoln after an up and down 5-7 first year that included a 45-7 blowout loss to the Michigan Wolverines early in the season.

How did the first-year Nebraska coach respond to getting absolutely rocked by Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines?

By beating the brakes off on them on what should have likely been an off day Sunday.

Matt Rhule explains channeling Herb Brooks after blowout loss to Michigan.

"Next day, we went out and said, 'Alright, y’all don’t play on Saturdays? We’re going to play on Sundays...How long we go for? An hour and a half? Like, full play. Like, guys out there, defense talking trash to the offense. Literally 24 hours after we played Michigan," Rhule explained on "Bussin' With The Boys."

Where have we heard this before? How about Herb Brooks in "Miracle" after tying Norway when he said, "You guys don't want to work during the game? No problem. We'll work now. Goal line."

I remember being terrified as a youth hockey player hearing the words "get a whistle" coming out of a coach's mouth.

It sounds like Matt Rhule damn near shared the same message with his players nearly word-for-word. That's either a hell of a coincidence or Matt Rhule is a huge "Miracle" fan. Which one do we think it is? I'm leaning the latter for sure. 

And look, I'm not hating on it. I love a coach with some serious grit and has edge. Matt Rhule is exactly what Nebraska needs.

The Cornhuskers have fallen on hard times over the past decade or so, and they need a guy using the same tactics as Herb Brooks to bring them back to the top of the mountain.

While we're on the topic of the Miracle on Ice, I surprised my dad a few years ago with a jersey signed by the team. It's now kept in a secure location and guarded like whatever gold might be left in Fort Knox.
