Why has The Chrysalids by John Wyndham never been made into a movie?

If you tried to film that up the Labrador the blessed flies would eat you alive.

For those of you with undiagnosed parents. What symptoms did they show that you thought was just normal behavior?

Sounds like my grandfather. Supper was strictly at 5 and the family term for it was/is his "dinger" (think like a little bell going off). Breakfast was first thing in the morning after getting the woodstove going and dinner was at 12 sharp.

Yeah, I was wondering if it's a bug or are they doing it on purpose to be cute or clever. Whatever, I just got the fire caves automated so that's done.

Does anybody not start watching established TV series because it feels like too big of a commitment?

ming ("to mix")

Not entirely obsolete. Meng/mang still means to mix (especially to mix and cook ingredients in an amateur fashion, to slap a meal together with what's available). Still used in Newfoundland English, but I'd like to hear if it's used elsewhere.

It’s so interesting to learn that some people are named after a relative

gmlogmd80
commented

I'm the fourth in a line of men with the same name. Of my other names, I share one with my father, my maternal grandfather, and our old surname used as a middle name (my grandfather wasn't formally adopted but raised by his great-uncle and took his surname). On both sides names are frequently passed down, which makes genealogy somewhat easier.

Anyone out there like this episode? I know I’m an outlier.

Olivia d'Abo. Also Moriarty Nicole Wallace on Law & Order CI.

All right, I just asked. Nothing very fancy. Baked in the oven with salt and pepper, or cut into bits and fried with onions and pork fat, or bottle it like you would with moose bits, or baked with a pastry top like flipper pie. More or less what I figured, the English approach to Inuit/Innu food.

ETA: she says whatever you don't want she'll have it lol
