All these people who read/quote the Bible act like they are Socrates level philosophers until you tell them how a metaphor works.

Like if we’re referring to the deception of eve by satan tempting her to eat the apple of knowledge how can anyone possibly blame her? Being mansplained endlessly by Adam in a garden with no place to go or hide and all of a sudden a weird shiny, legless snek thing comes along promising other worldly and forbidden knowledge and the opportunity to escape the living hell of being told which river to drink out of and which bush to sleep under and being constantly reminded which rib you came from all the while never yearning for something beyond being totally controlled and taken care of by your creator or your creators creator aka Sky Daddy. Imagine Adam explaining daily how every aspect of the known universe works without any actual knowledge of how literally anything works and just being content to sit there day after day, night after night, cycle after cycle, non-season after non-season (apparently there weren’t even rainbows or rain prior to the great flood in Genesis…) and being completely content with existing as the equivalent of a golden retriever in some random dudes house. I can just picture it: Adam is sitting there explaining to Eve how “…actually the birds and the trees are all the same creature/object because some stupid BS” and here’s Eve biting her tongue again thinking “you won’t even know how to wipe your own a$$ after I take a bite out of that damn apple…” and then within the first 30 seconds of said apple biting Adam defecates on himself and is crying and screaming “wHat Is THiS?! It’s sO sTicKy?!” And Eve has already skinned a rabbit for its pelt, made a fashionable loincloth and coverings for their suddenly existing genitals, and is roasting the body over some hellfire she recently collected while f**ckhead was running around literally crumbling at the first sign of struggle.

Eve wasn’t deceived. She chose to damn ever person to ever exists to earthy struggle rather than spend one more second with Adam who I can only imagine was totally and completely insufferable. And I don’t blame her because this is still happening everyday in every part of the world where some poor woman is sitting in a coffee shop or in the workplace or in her home just merely trying to exist and survive but then there’s some dude who is also there telling her “you should smile more”. Maybe if women’s thoughts and bodies weren’t being policed since literally the beginning of time Eve wouldn’t have felt like she needed to be “deceived”. Also, this is somewhat of a tangent, but if we’re going by canon, god created the earth, the heavens, the sun, the rivers and oceans, plants, the animals and then the last thing he does is create these sentient electric meat-bags and then is like phew, dusts off hands “I did the damn thing” and goes of to rest/have a disco nap having completed absolute perfection by putting the cherry on top of it all by solidifying Man as the definitive creation that sums up the entirety of the vast cosmos…. And Adam never questioned any of it nor did he want to. He considered himself the perfect being that needed no explanation? He didn’t have any concerns? No desire to speak to HR? In regard to gender constructs, this analogy pretty much sums up to me why men feel entitled to certain ideologies regarding their status among the sexes. We have been made to feel like we are perfect and infallible and that anything that stems from or originates from us is less than because it is not us but rather an extension of us. And that thing is open to being controlled and manipulated because of the innate right of ownership we feel towards it. Unfortunately even though that thing can be a lot of things it is also how we feel culturally about women. Thank you. Ted talk. Etcetera.
