Nina Bernstein, an investigative reporter and the author of two books, has written on a wide range of social and legal issues since she joined The New York Times in 1995, including award-winning coverage of immigration, child welfare and health care. She was part of a Metro team that won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News for coverage of the scandal that led to the resignation of the governor of New York. Before joining the Times she worked at Newsday (including stints as a foreign correspondent in Germany and Bosnia), and at newspapers in Milwaukee and Des Moines.
