TumbleSeed update v2.01n released (4 Peaks Update)

TumbleSeed just updated to v2.01n in NA, which is the 4 Peaks Update

I don't see any official patch notes for the Switch version on Twitter or Facebook, but you can read the Steam version's patch notes here.

Eurogamer described the then upcoming patch as:

Currently available on Steam, but coming to Switch and PS4 "within a couple weeks or so", this new "Four Peaks Update" drastically changes the game without losing the core of what makes it special.

Two of its biggest changes are new modes that aren't procedurally-generated, offering a far more useful tutorial for players to come to grips with TumbleSeed's peculiar control system. One new mode is individually themed mountains that stay the same every time you play and contain quests to unlock more auros.

The other big addition is a Weekly Challenge that remains the same all week. Not only is this available longer than a Daily Challenge, these weekly events will be replayable, so you'll have the means to practice them and watch videos of how others conquer these challenges.

Another concession to the difficulty is that the Four Peaks update makes it so you can unlock up to 12 auras that are equipable at at the basecamp (i.e. starting point).

The Four Peaks update also removes quests and teleporters from Adventure Mode, but the new practice mountains should make shortcuts undesirable anyway, while quests are now relegated to these separate modes where you can learn the lay of the land.

  1. The game is on sale for $9.99!

  2. And we made a 2p battle only on Switch!

We are two of the folks from Team TumbleSeed and we just launched the 4 Peaks update on Switch! This includes:

  • 4 Peaks: Four new static mountains where you unlock passive abilities to help guide you up the mountain

  • All new purely positive auras: Passive abilities equippable from the basecamp to tip the odds in your favor

  • Weekly Challenge: One Mountain, All Week. Tackle the same mountain over and over again throughout the week.

  • 2 Player Battle: A King-of-the-Hill style local multiplayer battle that we made exclusively for the Nintendo Switch version!

From the team we have:

Ask us about what's new, why we made the changes we did, making indie games, or whatever else! We'll be here at 2PM CDT. Cheers!

Edit- We're real we promise!

How are people enjoying TumbleSeed so far?

TumbleSeed has been on the eShop for about a week now. I was wondering if this little indie title had any staying power. Do you like the game? Are you glad you purchased it? How much longevity does it seem to have?

TumbleSeed is my favorite example of HD rumble

I haven't seen another game use HD rumble in a way that's actually useful for gameplay. Usually it's just a cute gimmick like rumbling when you're near treasure, or when you jump in water.

Those features are nice, but they have nothing on TumbleSeed!

In TS, you almost feel like there's a marble rolling around inside your Switch or controller. It's very practical --- you can actually use the HD rumble to feel how fast you're rolling and even get a sense of where you are on the screen. Sometimes there's so much happening on the screen but the rumble can be used to get a decently accurate idea of how you're maneuvering around.

I'm looking forward to a game that uses HD rumble as an actual gameplay element instead of just an afterthought.

  • TumbleSeed is a deceptively deep roguelike about balancing a seed up a dangerous and ever-changing mountain. Avoid holes and defeat corrupted creatures in this dual-stick action adventure. Along your perilous trek you'll be forced to strategize, grow powerful with upgrades, and master the art of rolling to avoid the mountain's many dangers. members
