Anything like Escape from Tarkov or MW2's DMZ but PvE only, or at least have the PvP walled off? Looking for FPS, not TPS. (self.gaming)

Long story short, my brother likes DMZ but hates having people come out of nowhere and killing him. I love the PvP aspect, but I can only do so much when we have a full team on us.

So yeah, is there a game like that that keeps the PvP out unless you knowingly enter the area, like The Division's Dark Zone?

Editing for clarity: First person only, so no Division or the like. Semi realistic mechanics, no bullet sponge enemies, and you can die just as quick. Military or apocalyptic real world scenario, so no zombies or aliens. Resource gathering and quests to run, like EfT, with base building being an optional mechanic.

Grey Zone is expected to release this year and will have PvE and PvEvP servers. It’s on Steam so you can wishlist it for now until it releases.

The Trailer Shows that it wont be anything neat Trakov, so dont pre-purchase please.

The devs themselves said they don't want to be compared to tarkov because they aren't trying to be a tarkov killer, they just want to make a game an co-exist. Remember that the very little amount of gameplay you've seen is very much early on and doesn't actually show the finished polished product.

That said, yes don't preorder video games.

That's really specific, especially if you rule out zombies and 3rd person.  I think Fear 3's campaign has a co-op mode?  I never played fear 3 though personally since reviews weren't great compared to 1&2.

Edit: I think there's a co-op mod for STALKER but I have no idea how good it is

You might want to check out games like The Division or Ghost Recon Wildlands. They offer similar tactical gameplay in an open-world setting, with PvP zones clearly defined so you can avoid unwanted encounters.

There's a pretty good FPS mod for both Wildlands and Breakpoint and it's worth giving a shot on the highest difficulty with the HUD turned off.

Sadly there isn't anything, not released anyways. Division is your closest to that, Wish more games has pvp seperate also like Division has the dark zones

You could check out a little game called Generation Zero. FPS, 4 player co-op, resource gathering, crafting, optional base management, massive open world map, the list goes on. It is probably less 'tactical' than you are looking for, but difficulty levels can help with time to kill, and the enemies (murderous military robots gone rogue in 1980's era Sweden) in the game can be quite deadly.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly (with either the GAMMA or EfP mod packs), although it isn't co-op.

The Stalker series is probably closest to what you're looking for. Call of Pripyat is the best one and doesn't necessarily need mods to work properly. Keep an eye out for Stalker 2 too, if it actually releases this year.
