TIL that Tommy Maddox left the NFL after five unsuccessful years as a QB, and became an insurance agent. Two years later, an arena football team asked him to play. Maddox sold his agency and accepted the offer. He eventually returned to the NFL and helped the Pittsburgh Steelers win Super Bowl XL.

Full 7-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft

Last year, my seven round mock draft left much to be desired. The most common constructive criticism I received was that I consistently projected players to go to teams who made zero reported connections throughout the entire draft season. Because of that, I took extra time to consider team visits.

This mock draft features at least one top 30 visit or local day visit for 31 of 32 teams. Why not all 32? Because somehow as of today, April 11, the Los Angeles Rams have announced literally nothing. Seriously, like, did you guys forget to send out invitations? So while I unfortunately had to make an exception, I still mocked Michigan edge rusher Jaylen Harrell to the Rams - who visited with him on his Pro Day.

So with that disclaimer out of the way, CLICK HERE for my entire mock draft, from Caleb Williams all the way to Giovanni Manu.

I hope you enjoy! And as always, I invite you to provide feedback, if you would like the opportunity.

ETA: Forgot to mention my one projected trade - Vikings trade the 11th and 23rd overall draft picks to the Chargers in exchange for the 5th and 110th overall draft picks.

Dawgs in the 2024 NFL Draft

Sure there are talented players in every draft — but not every player has that dawg in him. “Dawg-ishness” is something I value highly when ranking my players. Talent is great, sure, but talent combined with utter determination and killer instinct can set apart truly great players from the rest of the pack.

Who in this upcoming draft is, in fact, a dawg?

NFL Draft Rebuild strategy: QB vs. building roster over time

In this scenario where it’s time for a new quarterback and your roster has a significant number of holes on it, what would you prefer your team to do?

Let’s say your team has earned the 10th pick, and the quarterbacks are of a similar quality to this year’s draft. Would you prefer your team to:

A) Mortgage the future and trade up with multiple firsts to try and land one of the top 3 quarterbacks

B) Select a QB in the first at your original pick that may have some flaws, but is talented (Bo Nix, Penix, JJ)

C) Draft best player available/need at other positions with your picks this year and into the future until your team either picks higher, feels comfortable trading up in the future, signs a QB in free agency, etc.
