Well, what's your theory? I won't say if you're wrong or right, but I think we all probably want to hear it.

I didn't know that a fair amount of literary classics had sequels

This dude don't know about the Tale of Genji.

Actually, it really depends on what you define a "novel" as. There are works even older than Genji that some people debate as being the "first novel".

But yes, Don't Quixote is often cited as the first novel in the genre/format's modern European form.

Book of Mormon isn't a real sequel... it's fan fiction at best.

The Argon Quest (1992), a movie made from episodes of Blizzard Island (Canadian children's TV show). Created by Fraggle Rock puppeteer Terry Angus

OobaDooba72

I was thinking about this recently! I had this on VHS as a kid and loved it. I think my kids are about the right age so I've been contemplating giving it a watch and seeing what they'd think of it.

I am somewhat curious about the original show, but haven't seen much of it. The fact that there was an original show was something I never knew until looking up The Argon Quest online as an adult.

What order do I read Brandon Sanderson?

Pub order is right for 95-99% of things. Slight caveat that you could stick with one series even if other books were published between entries in that series, but honestly that's just whatever.

I certainly haven't read everything in existence, but I can only think of one example where following publication order isn't necessarily preferred, and that's Discworld. But if you realize Discworld is a setting, or a "meta series" if that contains its own various series inside itself, and the books in each series tend to be better in pub order anyway (though not always or necessarily), it makes sense. And honestly pub order in Discworld is valid too, as long as one doesn't write-off the whole of them entirely based only on the first two or three books.

Which celebrity do you think has a lot of skeletons in their closet?

Yeah I get what you're saying, but I mean for being literally pimped out to rich Saudi's to shit on (or whoever, or whatever), for selling their souls for publicity, and whatever else has happened to them, publicly at least they seem to enjoy what all that has bought them.

If they have "sinned," or rather perpetuated evil on others, I couldn't say.

The whole Kardash/Jenner clan were literally pimped out by the elder Jenner woman, Kris I think. That of course doesn't preclude the rest of them from being into shady shit also. But that whole thing is a mess. When one is willing to do anything for fame and "celebrity" that leads to getting taken advantage of, at best. And at worst it van lead to extremely bad shit behind closed doors.

They don't seem to be suffering too bad, though.

Deadpool at Disney, but we can't have Red?

Walt has been dead for nearly 60 years now. Yeah, he was a visionary in some ways, he had great ideas about making a park that was better than anything else that had been done. He was also complicated in some ways, not a perfect person, and held views that most people today wouldn't agree with.

It's okay for the parks to move on from certain things he said or did or wanted, if those things are weird. It's weird to have human sex trafficking in the parks, no appeal to historical fact is going to change that. It's a ride, not a history book. It's okay for it to not have human sex trafficking. If you really are so passionste about keeping human sex trafficking in a ride then that says a lot of weird things about you.

Also if you love Walt quotes so much look up the one about how the park is never finished and that it's okay to update and change things.

Deadpool at Disney, but we can't have Red?

Damn, I didn't know Disneyland was meant to be a historical reenactment of some of the worst parts of humanity. I didn't realize DISNEYLAND RIDES were supposed to have HISTORICAL ACCURACY about god dammed SLAVE TRADE and HUMAN SEX TRAFFICKING.

Think before you type, please. Please.

I understand not wanting to change things. My gut response to first hearing about the changes to the auction was negative. I didn't want the ride to change, I wanted it to be the original ride forever. I want most rides to not change.

But then I used my brain and decided jt was probably okay not to have depictions of buying and selling HUMAN BEINGS in a Disneyland Ride.

If historical accuracy is what you're after, you're just straight up in the wrong place. Disneyland is an amusement park, not a textbook or a documentary.

Isn't Shallan's Soulcaster no longer identical?

OobaDooba72
commented

The gems are swappable. The stormlight in the gems fuels the transformation. It can be presumed that Jasnah would refill her gems and replace the missing ones. She used it on the stone and had to replace/refill her gems after that usage as well, the text doesn't really need to specifiy when and how.

You'll learn more about fabrials and stormlight as a power source later.

I believe all of this is mentioned at least in passing by this point so none of this is spoilers. But admittedly some of these details might be hard to totally make sense of yet, without more context and repetition. So don't worry, you didn't really miss anything. There's a lot to take in, but anything important will be repeated.

How can Tom Bombadil be "Fatherless" if Iluvatar means "Father of All"?

OobaDooba72
commented

Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow, his jacket is bright blue, his boots are yellow. What other explanation could there possibly be? What greater morsel of information do the masses covet?

Don't mind me, though, I guess. I've seen so much Tom Bombadil discourse and it all kinda ends up in the same place. Tom's just Tom. He doesn't rightly fit the world of Arda as we know it, and intentionally so. There just isn't more to say about it. Maybe you haven't seen pages and pages of forum thread discussions about it though, in which case, well, maybe be happy about that haha.

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo! Ring a dong! hop along! Fal lal the willow! Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!

[Variety] Robert Downey Jr is getting paid “significantly more” than $80M to star as Doctor Doom in the next 2 Avengers movies. He also only agreed to return on the condition that The Russos would direct the films.

Back when I was a teenager, my dad and some other neighborhood dads and moms did this to great affect. HOA was getting pushy, they staged a take-over, adjusted the rules to make the majority of people happy, including removing some of the strict house-color guidelines. Honestly it revitalized the neighborhood a bit, things looked nicer with more freshly painted houses.
