I'm actually really glad that Natlan is looking to feel different from the rest of Genshin. It's good to keep things fresh and interesting!

All I gotta say is that even though 1.1 had some great visual set pieces.........to this day I STILL don't care about any of the characters. I find some of them visually appealing but there's just no emotional weight. They could all basically die in the story tomorrow and I would just kinda shrug and wonder what the next characters will look like.

I'm not speaking for anybody else but the writing in this game is definitely lacking for me.

Just gonna throw my 2 cents on something:

I think that most people would actually agree that there can be or should be more darker skinned characters/representation in Natlan/Sumeru. But there's varying degrees of caring about the issue. Some people are heavily bothered. Some people just casually think it'd be nice but that's about it. And also some people might think the existing characters are "dark enough". And some people might think otherwise. But something interesting to think about is that there's also a lot of people who are frankly completely sick of the way that Western Twitter goes into these mob-mentality outrage trains where people throw rationality out the door and try to forcefully impose their beliefs onto others, with many doing it simply for virtue signaling instead of actually having a strong and educated belief in something and with many also using false or exaggerated information to push their narratives or agendas. So even if a person may agree with the underlying message of these Twitter rants, they may go against it simply by principal alone due to many years of being annoyed by Western Twitter.

Just something to think about.

Yup. Its all business in the end. But Twitter always wants to twist things to feed their addiction to outrage and virtue signaling

I mean.....its a combination of that and just the fact that a majority of Hoyo's sales and sponsorship is in CN. As a business they literally can't risk losing their main market.

Also Twitter needs to realize that their concerns will be ignored if the CN bros are not in the same boat or against it. Hoyo will never risk any label of "Western favoritism" because the CN bros will burn their HQ to the ground

It's not just the variable though. They would have to effectively recall all the merchandise, commercials, billboards, art, etc associated with the characters that have already been sent out in preparation for the Natlan release if the color change is noticeably different. And if you're basing a theory just on the darker edits looking better, that probably doesn't have much merit by itself since there are probably a ton of people who would think the characters look better with the current coloring. The coloring looking better or worse is literally just personal preference.

As a side note, I believe that nothing will change unless the Chinese fan base is involved. If anybody recalls the HI3 bunny girl incident, the Chinese fans went crazy when global players appeared to get something that they didn't and Hoyo gave in. In that same vein, if Global players complain about changing the skin color but the Chinese fans are happy with the current, then Hoyo will probably get a ton of crazy Chinese fans getting angry at them for listening to Global over themselves and a similar incident will happen again. And I doubt Hoyo is going to risk that.

I really love the animation in ZZZ. It's top notch and I dont even think any of the upcoming anime games are comparable. It kinda makes me excited to see what a future Genshin 2 will look like

Anime GTA lol. Looks interesting enough. Project Mugen found Dead in the Ditch. This might potentially be the best of the batch of upcoming Genshin clones. We'll see how it does against Azure Promelia.

(Also I have high doubts this will run on a normal phone)
