Just had a similar situation - finally getting the swing of things until i walked through a doorway into a hole in markets. My own fault not looking beforehand, but it does mean I'm extremely reluctant to try any of the more risky exploration - especially the little i've seen of the new level.

It would be nice to have a way to create a checkpoint, but its tricky to balance with the risk and threat that makes the game fun. Fighting the big guys in the market is the most fun I've had in this game so far, and part of that was because it's a heart-pounding nightmare where hours of progress are at stake.

I hope they bring in some sort of one-use checkpoint item that you can return to the portal and use - something to take the edge off but rare enough that it doesnt remove all the tension.

Second what others have said - keeping derrin alive can be tricky and use up resources you might want to keep for yourself. He has some dialogue that's fun, but I'd just press on and enjoy it without the added worry. You can always go back for another run once you've got a bit more experience.

Really enjoying the new update, bar the addition of a shitload of holes in the early levels. Why did they do this? I've previously gone through levels 1-5 no problem, but currently I've had to restart level 2 three times because something's left a small, person-sized hole on a grate in a pitch black room, or a huge chasm in an office conveniently placed so you trip over a chair and fly headlong into it.

I thought I was getting a grip on the hole situation, only to have Derrin trip over a corpse and vanish into one just as I'm ready to move on to level 3. Please don't tell me to stop sprinting everywhere, I'm in a hurry.

Found this key as well - there are some kennels with dog cages. You can squeeze into one of them by moving a board and then squeeze into the pen with a dog skeleton by wiggling though a gap. Under the skeleton is a key on a collar.

I haven't actually found a door for it yet, though am barely any way through level 1.
