I was teased mercilessly for having this plant, but I absolutely love it.

Pot and high temps are a dirty mix. You want to keep things moist in the heat, but pots (especially terra cotta) tend to keep plants a little more on the dry side just because of gravity and drainage. If you can, try to plant them in the ground.

My opinion on The Blair Witch Project

Tbf none of them had careers to be ruined to begin with. It did seem like Heather Donahue was going to be the breakout star though. The movie shot them all to stardom, but often with a lot of indie actors, they just couldn’t parlay it into A-List status and just kinda got stuck on the C-List.

Canvas question please! Do I redo the Canvas page because of student complaints?

If you want students to read something, like instructions, you need to put the assignment behind a prerequisite quiz that asks them questions about the instructions…. Seriously. It’s the only way to make them read it.

ELI5- Why do elephants have trunks??

💯. I’m so tired of people talking about evolution working towards something, or working towards an ideal. It doesn’t work towards anything. It just is random and survival selects for things that MAY offer advantages, but sometimes it’s just something that doesn’t confer any advantage….. maybe it co-evolved with something that was advantageous. Sometimes evolution hits a wall (human brain size is being limited largely by women’s hip size for birth). Was that ideal? Of course not. But it’s just how we evolved.

It seems like the biggest issue with this saga is that we won’t get a proper Avengers movie.

Philosophile42
commented

They need to lean in to the connected/shared world their characters live in, not move away from it. IIRC Feige said after Endgame that he thought there were too many Avengers team ups and that they should be more special…. I think this COULD work if all the movies they released had more characters beyond the title character (and end credit cameos). I know Civil war was basically an avengers movie, but Thor Ragnarok had Hulk integrated into the story. The Marvels had three characters playing major roles. The Spider-man movies all lived and breathed in a shared world. They should be doing that more often.

But

I have a kitty coin level 3 that won’t go away from my board. I can’t tap it or put it in my backpack. There is a timer on it but I can’t start it. There is no time left on the timer. It’s been several days with it just sitting there on my board. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? I’ve already sent a help request in-app.

Edit: title should have been bug…. I think autocorrect changed it sigh

The energy math

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but is it better to upgrade one rack to 25 or all the racks and spread around the energy?

Universes Beyond you want (or don't want) to see!

Frankly the only thing that they haven't hit yet (or will be hitting soon) that I'm a big fan of is Star Wars..... I wouldn't mind seeing it in MTG, but at the same time, I could live without it.

That said..... I kind of think (digging back into the popular culture) something like Lost might not be a bad fit for MTG.

I just wanted to say that my wife has a co-worker who's child knew your son. And I know that this isn't exactly an intimate connection to you or your son, but for whatever reason, it just makes it all the more real. I'm deeply saddened by your loss.

If there is anything to say that can bring you comfort here..... Your grief is a reflection of your love, and with time your grief will fade, but your love will endure. I've seen it with other friends who have lost their children.

If there is anything that we as a community can do for you, please let us know. Sometimes letting people help, allows us to work through the grief and saddness that we are feeling too. I hope you would be so generous to allow us to help you.

Student Won’t Complete Course Material Due to Religious Objection

Philosophile42
commented

When this happens in my courses (philosophy... so yeah it happens), What I don't tell the student first are the consequences of their missing the material. Instead, what I say is that this course is about challenging your assumptions about the world. I will absolutely present material that you think is simply wrong. Heck I might think it's wrong. But it isn't about the wrongness of the conclusions, but rather the reasoning that supports the conclusions. We can learn a lot from understanding the reasoning, even if we don't accept the conclusions. And ultimately, I'm not here to change your minds about anything. I'm here to help you think about these issues and topics here. You don't have to agree, but you do have to understand.

I like this approach because it opens up the possibility for the student to stay, listen, learn, and possibly change their minds about things. Simply explaining the zeroes they will get doesn't help them understand the value of even considering other positions, or what they might learn from it.

I'm sure you don't expect your students to become homosexual. I'm sure you hope your students will become more understanding and less intolerant of it. But to get there, they have to listen and consider. You're encouraging them to self-censor.

edit: Obviously you would need to modify what you say to match your course.

Barnes & Noble Almaden to be replaced 2025

There was a BEST there too. They had this sort of crack/hole in the facade as the entrance for the Almaden location (where B&N is now). They had some great architecture for their buildings.

Crowns
Question

I’m a newb, and started playing a few weeks ago. I have a bunch of xp crowns and my game play style tends to be horde everything in most games. Well that clearly doesn’t work in this game because I’m constantly out of space trying to get 5 matches, etc.

So I know I need to use these things more often, and I’m just wondering when other people pop off the xp crowns to help maximize their benefit?

Question

Philosophile42
replied to oxero

It is a very good upgrade, but keep in mind that giving protection from all colors will also knock off enchantments and colored equipment you have put on that creature. So sometimes, it is something you don't want to pick both of.
