Doja Cat - Vegas (From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ELVIS) (Of... by Zaacdragon in oscarrace

The song is not what I expected from an Elvis soundtrack, but I do appreciate the creativity. From wikipedia: "The song interpolates a sample of Big Mama Thornton's 1952 song "Hound Dog", which was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and notably covered by Presley." It's definitely an interesting nod to Elvis. Do you think Oscar voters will appreciate this song?

Has anyone seen lincoln lawyer on netflix and noticed how completely obvious its a knockoff of lucifer? by [deleted] in lucifer

[–]Zaacdragon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're like really stretching it. The two show are completely different in tone, the Lincoln lawyer is way more dramatic and realistic. Lucifer has more of the case of the week, while Lincoln lawyer has a serialized format with the show mainly focussing on one trial. The Lincoln lawyer is also a pretty faithful adaptation of the book series by Michael Connelly

I've watched The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix and overall I enjoyed it. The show is no prestige show, sort of network standard show (given that it was meant to be on CBS), it's enjoyable I guess. The main actor also seems to be at times lacking the charisma needed to be the lead in this kind of show.

Being a fan of the book series, I think the show is quite faithful to the book, the Brass Verdict, in which the season is adapted from. I like the story, so I like the show. I saw complains online about the main character coming from Mexican descent, which is ridiculous as that is exactly how he is portrayed in the books and they changed it for the movie adaptation to have Matthew Mcconaughey to be the lead.

heartstopper rank 7th most watch in first week by Zaacdragon in HeartstopperAO

For me, the show is underperforming, it is promoted on social media sites, yet it is still rank below selling sunset. Maybe the audience for this show is smaller than expected. At least it is not Russian Doll, which did not even appear in the top 10.

The Oscars becoming more niche and Critic Friendly and less appealing to general audiences: A Discussion by 213846 in oscarrace

I like to question why the Emmys seemed to be able to balance critical and audience favorite pretty well. Last year winners, Ted lasso, the crown and queens gambit all are well received by critics and are popular. Is it more of a necessity for tv shows to be good in order to be popular?

Inventing Anna. Interesting story, great performance by Julia Garner. The show feels a little long at time and the show feels unpolished at places. The reporter's story I think is unnecessary at parts, but I think her perspective is a nice touch to reflect how absurd the lives of the rich are.

Scandal

The first season is pretty good. However as the show goes on, things just get more unbelievable, how did a show about crisis management to a convoluted spy show. Most of the characters in the end are unlikable. The love triangle which dragged through the show ended up with two unlikable love interests. The show would be much better if it focus on the case of the week, not solving this great conspiracy.

Midnight mass is so good. It is a slowburn, filled with monologues, but the great acting and writing makes the endless speeches so enthralling. The island on the show is so beautifully and the show is so well shot.

No one's talking about Tylenol sponsoring a reward.... like such a random brand to feature on survivor, the show can't even do much with it, just sticking the name on a reward. Tylenol retreat sounds like a night of popping pills

Mike really has the similar voice and mannerism of Pat.

The Chair on Netflix is very good. Sandra Oh is such captivating. The supporting cast is also very funny. This show is a quick binge with six 30 minutes episodes.

Anyone else feel like AUS survivor’s most recent season has kinda sloppy editing? by Jexexile in survivor

[–]Zaacdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The edit extremely simplifies what happened. It's George vs Hayley and Emmett and Dani will be the speakers of brawn. No one's else is important to me he story. It may be true that these are the main drivers of story now, but won't it nice to hear Cara's thought on the double agent, instead of George telling us what she thinks, would it be nice to hear flick's opinion about receiving the idol and telling her alliance about it, instead and f learning it from George.

Also tired of hearing, 'being a politician...', 'being a pain researcher...', 'plant based superman'. I can see why they are getting confessionals, they are spoon feeding these buzz words to the editors, playing up their characters

Maybe the producers want us to be okay with a non elimination by making the vote as stupid as possible. Also, I think there is a high chance that Baden comes back into the game given his edit.

Who will make it to merge?

My predictions:

Safe for Merge: Wai, Baden, Hayley, Andrew, Flick, George, Cara, Kez, Gerald

Danger: I feel at least one more big character will leave before merge, I think it could be either Simon or Emmett. The rest of Dani, Chelsea, Rachel, Laura are in danger for being in the wrong side of the numbers.
