Another foreshadowing / twist?

I just finished my first watch and per many recommendations from this group, I immediately started a rewatch to catch some of the jokes I missed the first time around.

I read a lot of comments on here about the Tom Hanks foreshadowing in the first season (which I had forgotten about) and in the same episode, there is another foreshadowing that I didn't remember because it seemed so insignificant the first time around. When the staff is discussing someone to take the fall, someone mentions Gary, and Selina says something to the effect of, "Why would I fire Gary? He's the only one here who cares about me?" For a comedy, this really hit me hard.

What are you a Karen about?

People who take too long when there is a long line behind them. I can't take it and often ask if I can order / go while they're thinking.

What was the most out-of-character thing our girls did?

They have a habit of not believing each other (Dorothy's date who made a pass at Blanche, Blanche not sleeping with Stan, Rose and her sister). It's weird that they always have them jump so quickly to believing the stranger.

i’m a huge fan of getting up at sunrise to avoid crowds when traveling. which “crazy busy” tourist locations have you gotten all to yourself?

Kilauea Iki trail in Volcanoes National Park (Big Island, Hawaii). There are tons of trails there but this is one of the most popular. I went as soon as it was light and only saw a couple other people during the entire 3+ miles. Walking through the Crater alone was mesmerizing.

[Discussion] What is the one advice you'd give to your 16 year old self?

There's more to life than boys. Find joy and focus on other things too.

Which country pushed you out of your comfort zone the most?

Thank you for sharing. I used to live in Korea as a Westerner and when people asked me how it was, I only ever said "good" because there were so many differences, it was hard to articulate. And I'm guessing most people weren't really that interested.

Which country pushed you out of your comfort zone the most?

Do you have any examples?

Up until last year, Baltimore had 300+ murders a year for nearly a decade in a city with less than 600,000 people. This was outright (not per capita) more than NYC that is more than 10x the population. The overdose death rate is also one of the worst in the country. The last couple of mayors have been indicted along with the DA and police commissioner.

It's been a better 18 months but there is a lot of systemic mess here that is very Wire-esque.

What’s something that you are tired of being sexualized?

Everything. There is this weird need to try and make everything sexy to somehow give it value (sexy pregnant women, sexy older women, sexy everything). There's more to life than sexy, or at least there should be.

Leash your dogs!!!

I don't know. There's one in Patterson Park and every day there are countless dogs off leash outside of it.

Adults who are generally enjoying life and feel like you "Have Your Shit Together," what does an average day look like for you?

7 years ago I went out on my own and now work for myself. I love that every day is different and I can do things based on a schedule I create. I can go grocery shopping or work out or make a doctor's appointment in ways that work for me. This also entails working late at times or sometimes on weekends which doesn't bother me at all since I take the time I need when I need it. Even in jobs I've loved in the past, the routine of it was unbearable to me.

What screams, “I don’t have my shit together”?

Having a storage unit. There are legitimate reasons for having them, of course, but the only people I know who have them aren't in great financial shape and don't organize their lives very well.

What is the best thing that happened to you during a trip?

My first morning in Japan, I met 5 police officers who shared a day off. For the rest of my trip they came by every day to check on me and take me to see Sumo, introduce me to some of the best local restaurants, and get me tickets to all the attractions. It was quite an experience!

I now loathe Air BnB

Reviews have come to mean that anything less than a perfect score is considered a travesty to those being reviewed. This is unfortunate because it causes a lot of issues and prevents people from being honest for the next person. Also those being reviewed often do not take kindly to anything less than a perfect rating and glowing comment.

The last time I left an AirBNB review, I wrote in glowing terms about the apartment, the location, and the host. One line I added for future guests was along the lines of "Since it's such a great location, that also means that it was a bit noisy at night so if that bothers you, take it into consideration." I got a scathing email from the host afterwards telling me I was ruining her business. Not worth it.

Thoughts on Season 3
Discussion

For those saying nothing happens in Season 3, I respectfully disagree. In addition to a lot of backstory (yes, a lot of it), we do get some important new information. We don't get all of it, of course, which I think is where some people seem to be frustrated, but I don't think it's fair to say nothing moved forward.

We know that the restaurant got reviewed. We know that financially, The Computer has determined that the Bear is not sustainable regardless. We learned that Carm wants Syd to be a partner and that she's not sure. We learned that Syd has an offer to go elsewhere. We learned that Ever closed. We learned that Richie and Carm are still arguing and didn't simply make up. We learned that Carm and Claire have not made up. We saw how the Bear is doing in its first 6 weeks. We saw Donna re-emerge with a relationship with Sugar and Sugar giving birth. We saw Richie continue his relationships with the Ever staff potentially keeping the door open for a romance. We learned that the beef window is making money, setting it up for a potential full-time return.

Yes, the majority was backstory and there are still a lot of unanswered questions, but I do think we got a lot of important information that we didn't have in previous seasons.
