A moment of silence for Barbarians

I think dumping nameless barbarians is a good move but I hope the independent powers somewhat fill that vacuum.

CivVII, different nations have different units?

This is making me wonder how many units of each type with exist in each era

One Civ - Multiple Leaders is not more historically accurate

Like having America in the Ancient Era fighting with sticks and Aztecs as a modern superpower with nukes is part of the fun of Civ.

I'm really surprised to see a bunch of people look at that suddenly like it was a problem with the series.

Japanese site asked Ed Beach about the Japanese civilization in Civ VII

If nothing else they better have a China for each era at launch lol

Pilestedt's opinion on Flamethrower vfx

Glad this is how he feels because the fire vfx changes were honestly worse to me than the actual nerfs. It looks so bad and would make me not want to use the flamethrower even if it was still very strong.

Now Keep Your Word

I just need the devs to understand that the weapons can be effective and powerful and the game can still be hard. I want the game to be hard but I also don't want to feel like I'm using a peashooter.

I demand justice for Signora

MHY seems obsessed with having a plausibe explanation for everything.

Drives me nuts. She can stay dead I don't care but I want to play as her anyway. I don't get why it's such a big deal for everything in the game to be plausible.

It also writes them into a corner because it basically means every archon needs to be friendly with the Traveler and that's just boring.

Do native American civs have to turn into the USA?

There are just so many potentially unsavory combinations. Like Japan and Korea better be in the same era because one turning into the other would be pretty wack.

That's not even getting into how weird some leader and civ combos will be.

I see a lot of people saying the culture switching in Humankind was a good idea that was poorly executed but I just disagree with that.

From a gameplay perspective I'm sure the Era system will be fun but the optics are just so bad to me.

so after the escelation of freedom, dp you think we desserve an escalation of armor like this?

Been saying something similar for months now. I'd wear heavy armor so much more with this change.

Was it too expensive to make unique backgrounds for every civ? Why has the diplomacy screen gotten worse two games in a row?

The devs talked before about how much dev time the backgrounds. I'm fine with them being gone but I'm less supportive of the massive drop in leader fidelity.

To everyone complaining about Songhai thinking it’s the only historic option

There was one screenshot going around that people claimed was that but it was just listing Egypt as a requirement to switch to Songhai. Based on what I've seen you carry your leader over and can't with the Civ.

The screen for talking to leaders looks awful. Boesthius is right

The change to teddy was because everyone complained about it. Hopefully they see how much people hate these and put some work into them.

Today this is the Civ community for me.

Honestly I'd love the idea so much more if it was an evolution of the same Civ and not getting renamed as a new Civ. Like Egypt to Mongolia is wack but it it was Ancient Egypt to Nomadic Egypt I'd be way more into it.

Honestly I think y'all definitely made a mistake not having the first age transition in the first gameplay previews but I'm sure you'll rectify that soon.

To everyone complaining about Songhai thinking it’s the only historic option

If every Civ has an option that sort makes sense it will work better.

Still I want an option to become "nomadic egypt" and not the Mongols.

edit: hopefully the "historic option" they mentioned can lock you and the AI to their most historical age changes.

Swapping civs is the *wrong kind* of historically inaccurate

I'll be honest I'm sure it will play fine but I just hate the name change.

I should be Egypt with nomadic characteristics; not Mongolia.

I think the new mechanic of Civ 7 defeats the purpose of Civ

It's so weird I'm suddenly seeing people saying things like "American in ancient era was dumb" and "Maya with Nukes is silly" as if those funny scenarios weren't the core of the Civ series.

Lets remember the biggest meme of these series is Gandhi using Nukes.
