Don't put drum brakes to bed wet. Not unless you want to experience your car turning into a rodeo bull inside your garage the next morning; they absolutely will buck when they finally pop the brakes free.

Also, you are never going to match a modern car for braking power. Learn what your stopping distance is. Go practice hard braking in a parking lot. Bugs are light, but it's a very different feel than a modern car. They lock, slip, skid, and brake unevenly. Pulling to one side because of plugs or kinks in the brake lines is exceedingly common. Learn to identify what your brakes are doing, so you know how to compensate.

...why does it look like a courthouse?

I feel like it's the combo of textures on the inside, somehow.

The rocket ignited and blasted skyward for about four minutes, but the
separation of the booster from the spacecraft that sat atop the rocket
appeared to fail. Some of the booster's 33 engines appeared to not
ignite.

The rocket then began to tumble [downward] before exploding.

The cause of the explosion and failure of the separation was not
immediately known, though the rocket's blast-off already meant the test
was considered a success.

Thursday's test flight launched SpaceX's Starship spacecraft with nobody
aboard for a planed 1½-hour flight. Starship is meant to be a reusable
vehicle capable of carrying massive cargo loads into space.

I legit cannot stand the taste of water outside LA County. I fill multiple bottles and bring it with me when I go on daytrips to SB, SLO, etc.

...maybe that's the brain parasites living in my pipes talking, come to think of it.

You need a lower limit to that, too, I think.

My 1800lb Beetle is definitely not sporty.

I went down to Redondo, iirc, a few years ago and they had some festival going on at the same time which seemed to really deter the fish from doing their thing. Like, lights shining out into the waves, loud music, etc. Must have been hell for a fish that figures spawning times by moon phase.
