Grocery Outlet

Food is expensive, but not at California's 'extreme discount' grocery store — Shopping here is a cheap, delirious thrill. It's worth it. : Grocery Outlet, the Bay Area’s deep-discount empire.

Missed Connection 5/14 at Grocery Outlet

We were in Grocery Outlet’s checkout aisle two around 6pm give or take. You (M, 20’s?, in gym shorts) had a absurd amount of hotdog and hamburger buns. I (F, 22, curly red hair) asked if you were having a cookout. You said it’s a diet, which made me laugh and I joked about an “all american diet.” You came running back in as I was heading to my car after checking out because you forgot your paper towels at the register. We chatted a bit more in the parking lot, you asked me what my diet was and conversation ended there.

I am now home cooking my dinner, wishing I was bold and instead replied that you could find out my diet by coming over for dinner!

Hoping this missed connection could be solved, now that I’m wildly curious what kind of diet calls for so many hamburgers and hotdogs. And maybe also for dinner- hot dogs, hamburgers, or a meal by me, your choice :)

If you’re on here or know who this is, dm me with what I was buying and let’s connect.

Grocery outlet has become crazy expensive?

Has grocery outlet become crazy expensive everywhere or is it just mine? Pretty much everything is on par with the higher end, typically more expensive grocery stores in my area. Can’t even get a pound of bacon for less than $9 which is the same or even more than the high end stores in my area, and I don’t even live in a HCOL area. A small container of heavy cream was $2.50 just 6 months ago, was raised to $4 since then, and just last night the same cream is now $5.50 which is more expensive than the high end stores around me. You can still occasionally find a cheap deal on something that is marked to expire in a few days but those are pretty rare these days.

Grocery outlet used to be my refuge for affordable groceries, now it is just ridiculous. Everything at Sam’s club is more affordable but the closest one to me is a 1 hour drive each way making it not cost effective. I hate this insane inflation / greedflation
