Made my first brilliant move but missed mate in 1
If black takes bishop it removes the defender from g6 pawn, allowing Rxg6 which starts a devastating attack on the king.
(What OP missed is) if black DOESN'T takes the bishop, white can still do Rxg6 since the bishop pins the pawn to the king.

Not necessarily. OP's rationale was probably that if black takes the "hanging piece" it removes the defender from g6 allowing Rxg6 or Qxg6 both of which are basically game over.
OP probably just lacked a plan for what to do if black doesn't take the bait and panic'd at the counter attack.

How is this a draw by repitition?
The position right before you move the rook in your first screenshot is the same position repeated twice more in the following screenshots.
If you use the Analysis tool on chess.com, it will show you the 3 moves where the position repeats.

Yeah it didn't work for me either. Got a "expired" message even though I did it all in like 10-15 seconds. I ended up using google to authenticate instead and that worked ok.
I imagine it's like 90% because they like to tinker and it's something to do, and probably 10% to make it more convenient to charge without needing to keep around a special cable for just the 3DS.
