34 here. Full-time work, spouse, and two kids. I’ve been a gamer since my teens and still consider gaming to be my main hobby. But I have a lot less time to play, sometimes as little as 2 hours or less per week (sometimes 5+ hours).

My appetite to keep up with all the latest games has waned with life responsibilities. My time is too valuable to waste on grinding games like I could afford as a young, unmarried lad.

Elden Ring? Haven’t played it, I’m sure it’s amazing. Baldur’s Gate 3? It’s on my list, but I’m in no rush to play it. I’m usually found playing a multiplayer shooter (ex. Overwatch, Valorant) or roguelites (Isaac, Darkest Dungeon 2) because I can enjoy them in both short or long bursts, solo or with friends, without having to be super committed to anything. When I get the urge to play a SP campaign, give me an indie I can clear in 10 hours or less.

I say all this to reassure you it’s normal and your preferences change as you develop. Some of my friends also around 34 used to be more hardcore than me with gaming 10 years ago, and now I’m lucky to see them online once a month.

Buddy fold your cards, move your money to a mutual fund and your money will double in less than a decade. You’ll have more than your inheritance back and can grow it even more.

After you play the tutorial you have the option to run games against AI which might help you get comfortable without feeling like you’re dragging others down. There is an MMR system that after some matches will start pairing you with more similar players over time. This is looser in casual modes and tighter in ranked.

Unless you hit Diamond or above you will be fine mostly being micless. Although being a team game you may find comming with your team to drastically improve the overall experience.

It’s certainly an interesting hypothesis. Small teams are obviously much less expensive to maintain, and are also easier to turn a profit. We might have reached a point where it’s less risky to develop multiple small games with minimal sales (and of course the opportunity it strikes gold and blows up) than it is to go live service/F2P and assume players will open their wallets on an ongoing basis.

Of course, the indie model has worked effectively, well, for indie teams. So there’s a bit of uncertainty I think about how sustainable it is for larger devs and publishers to operate this way. But we’ll see.

Bruh four matches after a two-year hiatus is hardly representative. The community has gotten better collectively since you last played. Give yourself some more hours to re-learn.

I’ve never been a big tactical shooter guy, and I’m completely addicted. They knocked it out of the park with console control nuances in this port.

I started playing on my Xbox day 1 of the closed beta, and I’m already nearing almost 50 hours (as a married guy with kids and a full-time job, that’s a lot of time in like a month for me haha).
