Kobe is the current record holder with 14,481 missed shots, but lebron is right behind with 14,433

Fyi: Lebron has played 140 more games than kobe

Do you think he can catch kobe before the regular season ends

Who is the biggest stat padder in NBA history?

I'm gonna go with Wilt. Was well known to have padded stats, like he hardly ever fouled out, if he got too many fouls he played less aggressive defense to stay in the game (vs Russell who always stayed aggressive) and never wanted to get out of the game and tried to play 48 minutes every game.

Also the stark difference between his regular season stats and playoff stats (when it really mattered). His playoff stats drop off considerably from regular season stats (most all time greats have playoff stats higher than regular season).

Honorable mention Pete Maravich and Carmelo Anthony.

r/nba Playoff MVPs: 2011

Throughout most of its history, the NBA has annually granted Most Valuable Player Awards to recognize its best competitors in the regular season and in the NBA Finals. These are the most substantial honors that an NBA player can receive. And since 2022, two Conference Finals MVPs have also been awarded each year to further celebrate achievement in the postseason.

Unfortunately, though, there has never been an award for the most valuable player in the entirety of the playoffs. For the vast majority of the league’s history, the only individual postseason award was entirely based on one series and only available to one team. As a consequence, some of the most incredible performances in the history of the sport have gone without any official recognition. So this project intends to retroactively celebrate some of those performances by asking this subreddit to award Playoff MVPs for every playoff tournament from 1980 to the present.

How to Vote

I will provide three different comments beneath each post representing three Playoff MVP candidates for the season being discussed. Additionally, if anybody feels that another player is deserving of candidacy, they can add a comment for that player to nominate them for the award using the process described in the following section. You can reply to these comments with arguments for or against any of the players to convince other voters of your position. Whichever player has the most upvotes after five days will be declared the Playoff MVP of that year, which will be announced the following week.

Nominating Players

If you would like to nominate a player, simply post a comment for that athlete using the same format as the comments for the other candidates. This should include the player’s name and a link to the Basketball Reference page of the team that they played for that season. Here is an example that you can copy:

Voting Criteria

Since the NBA doesn’t have any official criteria for how the MVP is decided, I’m not going to provide any specific criteria for this award either. However, I will suggest that voters judge the playoff MVP by the same standards that they use to judge the regular season MVP, such as individual statistics, team success, and overall impact on the game.

LeBron is 7th in the entire NBA for EPM!

LeOldestPlayerInTheLeague is now eligible for All-NBA honors as he just hit 65 games. Not only should he earn All-NBA this year, he is a borderline 1st team candidate. If he doesn’t earn at least 2nd team All-NBA, it will be another example of NBA voters siding against LeBron in close decisions/calls.

Bron’s EPM of +5.6 puts him at 7th place, behind Kawhi’s +5.8. For award-eligible players, LeBron ranks 6th in EPM (as Embiid missed way too many games).

Bron also has a Net On/Off of +9.9, a BPM of 6.3 (7th highest), 7.4 WS (22nd highest, but would be 19th highest if you only consider players with a WS/48 > 0.150), and 0.156 WS/48.

He is also posting the 3rd HIGHEST eFG% in NBA history for players who are averaging at least 25p and 8a per game (59.5% eFG).

LeBron EASILY deserves to be awarded with at least All-NBA 2nd team which would give him 20 consecutive All-NBA finishes! Not to mention that our big dawg Anthony Davis also deserves All-NBA 2nd team honors, at least.

Disclaimer: I’m a Bron fan but I’ll admit some of the stats I posted above are slightly cherry-picked, but that can’t be considered too bad when discussing a 39 year old’s stats.

Footnote: To Jordan fans who hate LeBron, remember that Jordan played in a watered-down NBA. He joined a league with 23 teams which expanded to 29 teams by the time he left. The league was so different back then, in fact, that his Bulls once made the playoffs with a 30-52 record! Furthermore, the NBA SHORTENED the 3PT line from 94-97. If you exclude his shortened 3 pointers, he is a career 29% 3PT shooter (rather than the 32% found on stat pages)

Why Can't Madden Ultimate Team Have NBA 2K-Level Customization?

I've recently made the switch from NBA 2K to Madden 24 Ultimate Team and I've got to say, I'm a little let down by the customization options—or the lack thereof.

In NBA 2K, the level of personalization is top-notch. You can create your own uniforms, design your court, and really make the arena feel like it's yours. This level of detail adds so much depth to the game and allows each player to have a unique identity.

As a Texans fan, I've been building my Texans theme team in Madden 24, but I can't help but feel that EA might be dropping the ball on the customization front. Where's the personal flair? Imagine if we could have our own stadium music blasting through the speakers—like having "Still Tippin'" set the scene during pregame, or celebrating a touchdown with some Htown classics to get the crowd pumped!

Moreover, it would be incredible to have the ability to select specific home field advantage effects based on momentum, just like in real-life games. It's these little details that could make each match feel unique and personal.

And it's not just Ultimate Team that could benefit—these features would be a game-changer in Connected Franchise Mode too. It's about creating an atmosphere that's truly your own. Every game would be distinct, every victory that much sweeter with your custom touch on the experience.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but I feel like this is a conversation worth having. What do you guys think? Are there others out there who feel Madden could take a page out of NBA 2K's playbook when it comes to customization?
