Ontario Would Be Fifth-Poorest, Quebec Second-Poorest, U.S. State | National Review

I think GDP adjusted for PPP would be a much better way to present this. Doesn't make much of a difference though, Canadian provinces would still fall far short of most American states.

Not a restaurant but there's an older lady making Bifanas out of a food truck on the boardwalk and it was fantastic.

How Will the Loss of Soldiers Impact the Russian Economy?

scottfc

With the loss of so many working aged males and so much spending going to the military instead of into growing Capital in the economy, productivity in Russia will likely lag behind the rest of the world for a long time.

Sete citades and the Fournas are probably the 2 sites worth visiting. I'd also suggest going around Ponte Delgada and just driving around the farm lands near by.

Concordia Perks

I'll be returning for a graduate degree after a few years away from the university. I rushed through my undergrade while working and only got to know about some of the perks of being a student towards the end. With the fees going up (let's not get into that now) can anyone share any good perks or benefits that come with being a Concordia student?

Personally before I left I really enjoyed the meditation room at Z-05 to get some quiet time and studying at the Grey Nuns building library whenever I could.

By nearly all measures, the US economy has performed better under Democrats than Republicans since WW2. Why is public perception still that Republicans are stronger on the economy?

scottfc
commented

Heads of industry often support Republicans because they remove regulations and lower the tax burden on the rich. Then many will look at those rich executive and business owners and think if they're supporting it then it must be good for the economy.

He should step down if he wants to give the libs a chance to save face and if not they have literally no chance in the next election, although it's already looking that way anyways.

scottfc

It's probably better to look at this from the perspective of GDP per Capita which had negative growth post great-recession but positive growth of 1-3% more recently.

The timeline of the graph above is also selective as it begins with a recession that had a big impact on the European economy.

Is a base economics degree “better” than a niche one?

scottfc
commented

Your bachelors will be in general economics mostly and you'll only need to chose a "Specialization" for your masters. These can be very broad specialties like Econometric, Labour, environmental... but you will still take the brunt of your classes in general courses. Essentially it'll help if your looking to work in a specific specialty but not all too much and what matters most is your understanding of general economics.

'It will not happen again,' Montreal mayor wants answers after terrasses closed on Grand Prix weekend

Cry me a river, this isn't a small mom and pop restaurant. It's one of the most known in Montreal, she inherited it from here father, they make a killing and can afford to ensure they're up to code. Would people be happier if we have stories like Mexico where numerous people die due to over capacity? There are things much more important then a millionaire making even more millions
