Fallout New Vegas is absolutely timeless to me by GoPikachuGo1 in pcgaming

[–]nkorslund 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First time I'd recommend only getting the bugfix and stability mods (but definitely get those. NVSE, NVAC, YUP etc.) Everything else will depend too much on personal preference and you can't really know that until you've played a bit.

The engine has no problem adding new mods in the middle of a playthrough either so don't feel like you need to set everything up perfectly before you start.

ME3 with all the DLC and especially Citadel is such an amazing satisfying experience

The best.

The League of Explorers are in the Core Set! by MahjongDaily in hearthstone

[–]nkorslund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dust your wild copies then you'll lose the cards whenever they rotate back out of core. The core copies counts as entirely separate (uncraftable and temporary) copies of the cards.

So if you plan to play these cards permanently in wild, do NOT dust them.

I think having 'plant' as a minion type could be interesting.

What are some examples of games where there are (relatively) big changes between sequels in terms of gameplay? Thinking about Risk of Rain 1 and 2 by laefeator in pcgaming

[–]nkorslund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fan made reimplementation for Dune 2 called Dune Legacy, which modernizes the interface and quality-of-life features quite a bit. You'll need to find the original game files, but (I think) they made it freeware at some point so lots of abandonware sites have it.

It's still probably worth checking out, especially if you played 2000 and want to compare. You'll probably recognize some of the music for example.

[SocJus] This is a real "RPG consent form". by B-VOLLEYBALL-READY in KotakuInAction

[–]nkorslund 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'd put a hard-line no on many of these just because they are boring as fuck topics for an RPG, not because they offend me. Who the hell wants an RPG night to turn into a topical discussion about police violence?

"Deerclops is strong" they said by frigideiroo in Terraria

Originally didn't, but they fixed it: "Deerclops' contact damage and his cold projectiles are now affected by Warmth Potion"

25 PC Games To Play On a Potato PC by FreeckyCake in pcgaming

Figure out approximately what year your computer is equivalent to, then go to eg. https://steamdb.info/stats/gameratings/2014/ and browse to "your" year for a great list of games.

Note that many of the games are indie games that may have much lower requirements, so for example the 2014 list above has plenty of games that'll run fine on a 2010-era computer.

Good to see people still have a sense of humor.

Or .. at least I hope it's humor. In the event that it is not I for one welcome our new robo-simian overlords.

Outer Wilds - Echoes of the Eye has released on Steam by Halio344 in pcgaming

[–]nkorslund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I take it this is suitable / enjoyable also for first-time players?

The reason I ask is there are some DLC/addons that change the base game so much that, while I enjoy the final result more, I'm glad I had at least one playthrough of the vanilla game first.

I have near 3000 hours in Creeper World 3, exactly because it's my go-to podcast/listening game. Can also be paused at any time.

[Gaming] There's now a mod to fix Miranda's butt in the Mass Effect remaster, for anyone that cares by B-VOLLEYBALL-READY in KotakuInAction

[–]nkorslund 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never really had much problems with the original ME1 combat. And good highres texture mods have existed for ages if that's a priority. There's a few bug fixes and QOL improvements overall but nothing worth rebuying the games over IMHO.

Also some changes you can do yourself. Like removing the Mako XP penalty or increasing inventory capacity, those things are literally just ini edits.

Any Warframe vets still playing? Thoughts on current state of the game? by Won_Doe in pcgaming

[–]nkorslund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played in a couple of years, what's this jumping puzzle with an entrance fee?

Also I agree on the performance thing, Warframe USED to be known for excellent performance but that's less true now. My potato PC can play through The Witcher 3 just fine, and I've played through Mankind Divided on it (less fine, but manageable). But somehow the dinky little open world of Fortuna is too much for it to handle.

I started losing interest when they made open worlds the focus of new content. The characters/story element is great but everything else feels like a strictly worse version of the base game to me.

Railjack is even less inspiring to me. They were introduced about around the time I quit, and I never even bothered to build one. If that's the focus going forward I'll probably never return.

I did this on my very first playthrough by accident. Hope they don't patch it out in the LE.

Do you just get tired of FOMO in general? Destiny 2 is by far had the worse FOMO implementation I have ever experienced (From day 1 to F2P Transition player) by Rabbidscool in pcgaming

[–]nkorslund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. It's not even that severe of a FOMO but was still enough to push me over the edge into burnout territory.

I have this rule, that if I ever start logging into a game because the game wants me to rather than because I want to, then it's time to uninstall and move on.

At the start of the game it's 2D minecraft. At the end of the game you're flying a pig-shark and fighting Lovecraftian horrors with space weaponry.
