Can I block/remove categories?

Twitch provides help documentation that specifically identifies which sections of the page you can customize. The way this works is the things you can't customize have no entry in the document "How to Customize content you see" -- I.E. The feature to customize is not included by Twitch as one of their features.

This is the case with Customizing categories. You can check the help page for which displays are customizable, and the absence of Categories from the document indicates that hiding a category completely is not a feature, even though you can say "Not Interested" to a category which removes the category from some of the Recommended sections which Twitch does discuss there.

Imaginarium Theatre goes against everything we know about Genshin's combat design, and that makes it anti-fun

It's a rather infuriating stage with the good DPS unavailable. I rewound and eventually lucked out getting a Kazuha. Kazuha+Bennett+Xiangling, and focus on group stunning the opponents that target the thing. Since most units can't stun groups of enemies, and Freeze reactions are impossible.. it's like RNG whether the game will allow you to get the 1 or 2 available key characters in who would seem necessary for the defense nonsense

What is the best way to do ads as a small streamer?

Draco1200
commented

What is the best way to do ads as a small streamer?

In reality there is no best way - Non-subscribers (unless they maintain a Twitch Turbo membership) are going to see some volume of ads: that's all there is to it. Generally as few ads as possible is better, as there is no way Twitch gives the streamer enough revenue per ad view to pay you a fair rate for all those ads they are putting into your content. I would suggest turning off the Ad Manager though, and run 3 minutes of Ads within 2 minutes of going live.

And maybe not run any more ads the rest of stream. This essentially means viewers who tune in after the first Ad break but within the first hour see no ads.

There is a fair argument for the streamer to Take a break from playing the game every hour and run Ads during the break to eliminate prerolls, but this is not clearly better. It is Unproven that midrolls don't lose you just as much if not more viewership to frustrations and Ad fatigue as 30-seconds of Prerolls do.

I will tell you that 3-minute midrolls or frequent ads seem much more frustrating to deal with as a viewer. I would sit through Prerolls all the time to see what a streamer is like - 30 seconds of ads is not that big a deal: compared to listening to a stream and suddenly have a background Tab interrupt whatever I'm doing with loud noisy ads - the instant reaction here is to click the X button on that tab. At least when it's prerolls: I'm at the computer; I clicked a stream to watch it -- I know and expect Ads to come when I start watching a video, so i'm much more likely to bear the slight pain of 30 seconds one-time annoyance within my control than 300 seconds of repeated annoyance outside my control every hour (at a generally unpredictable time for the passive viewer).

So the conclusion there... is at Least some streamers are going to be for viewers who like Prerolls more (People who like to sit on one stream and watch for longer). And some streamers are going to be for viewers who dislike Prerolls more (People who like to channel surf often and not watch one stream for long - They'll probably join a lot of channels, But by the time the midroll comes around These users are gone). It's not really possible to set an Ad schedule that is most liked by both viewer types at the same time, And the hope streamers would have is that people in the First group (channel surfers who are greatly disturbed by prerolls, Or midrolls they happen to see bc they join the stream in the middle of an Ad break) leave that group and Join the second group (Users who watch your stream for a lot of hours and are more greatly disturbed by midrolls).

The shop keeper doesn't need proof of stealing. He's seen carting a high value item out of the store not bagged and refuses to show a receipt is cause to believe they're stealing. That is enough to detain the shopper for a reasonable amount of time to investigate.

The issue here was the arrest by police. The police officer himself has to know that the shopper has a receipt and order the shopper to hand it over, before it becomes a lawful order. The store employee who is not the police is not a government official, therefore, anything the employee orders the customer to do is Not a lawful order, and disobeying it cannot be the grounds for an arrest.

As for the officer's request that the camera be turned off: That is an unlawful order, since the store policy is not the law. If the store does not want filming, they can Notify the man to leave their property, and the Police can trespass him from the premises if he refuses to leave, But he has the right to record, and the police don't have the authority to enforce private policies as law.

Blind trusts do not, but it is possible they will somehow work around a rule that disqualifies them from trading For themself, or for a friend.

For example, a senator can be involved in a venture where they own a set interest in an LLC, Or the LLC compensates them for providing consulting services. Where the senator don't direct any trading, but the company happens to own stock that may involve companies the government is privately informed about early. The consulting services then allow the Senator to Influence what trades the corporation makes. Even though the Senator does not profit directly by owning the shares, they might obtain a Fee based on their work, or a Fee based on their interest in the organization. They might also end up with a performance bonus due to the LLC's investments performing exceptionally well in part due to their timely suggestions.

What they should also do is write a law that classifies information learned by all government personnel whether elected or hired that is reported to the government, discussed in closed sessions, related to a future action taken by their office, or disseminated privately as Insider Information.

In other words: Doesn't matter whether the congress person is trading for themself or furnishing someone completely unrelated to them with trade suggestions, etc. If it's not public, then it's not public right?

Should be a crime to trade based on government Information the public did not already have notice of for a substantial period of time before the trade.

Most of those who liquidated lost money rather than those who just stayed in.

The timing of WHEN you liquidated and WHEN you bought back in would be crucial, therefore: It means the world to a trader these government critters got early warning. If you had early notice of the shutdowns, then you would naturally Liquidate early, and then re-purchase the same or other investments half a day or two after the notice of the shutdowns.

For retro game streams, do you think it's better to use the Retro category or the exact game you're playing?

Draco1200
commented

Usually the game you are playing, or the title of a game in the same series will be a better choice if a category exists for it.

I assume you are trying to catch viewer discovery from the directory then. In this case check what your potential categories look like beforehand. Most importantly: Where on the webpage your stream would appear in that category.

The category pages sort from Viewer count High to Low, generally.. some people sort Low to High.

Estimate where your stream would appear in both sort orders for both categories -- how many pages you have to scroll through to get to streams at a similar count.

In general it's better for discovery of a Live stream for the stream to be listed in the first few pages of a lightly-followed category than to be found on Page 100 of a heavily-followed category. You can always stick retro in the tags and title to make sure people know it is a retro game being played

I wouldn't put too much bank in Twitch's category system. (Rather try creating persistent posts on websites such as Twitter or Youtube as the basis for discovery.)

A clip that I made for someone that featured it on the person stream is gone for some reason??

Twitch also performs some type of automated processing on past stream VOD archives and in addition to muting VODs in 15 or 30-minute sections will also automatically expunge clips sometimes about a day later. Probably more likely the case if a featured clip suddenly vanished about a day after stream.

This can potentially be due to a glitch or error, or Twitch's systems later scanned the VOD and suspected questionable content on stream over a period of time (copyright music, in-game nudity, etc); even if that was not the case Twitch may have automatically destroyed all clips of that session over a certain time period out of abundance of caution.

It's probably unusual a channel would feature and then delete a viewer's clip. But the clip may be not featured anymore, and thus not visible through the channel's discovery surfaces. The streamer may have Unfeatured the clip, and even if it still exists: the viewer simply can't figure out how to find their clip anymore.

Twitch's new discovery feed is featured clips ficused, after all.

The way to be sure here is if the viewer bookmarked the link to their clip or checks their own viewer Twitch Dashboard section that shows clips they created in all channels (Content>Clips and then choosing the: Clips I've created option).

How do I handle moderating a community I no longer feel connected to?

Draco1200
commented

It sounds like you loved that community in the past but became disinterested about even showing up at this point. Surely that means it's about time to part ways with that stream or cut back tremendously anyways.

If there's uncertainty.. You can tell them you're taking a break.
Only this time you will probably extend the break to indefinite.

I would suggest you first prioritize/focus on yourself. Maybe find a different community or different medium of entertainment you enjoy.

You're more dedicated than most people if you are still spending your time worrying about a stream you don't feel connected with. Most former mods of channels' just disappear once they've had enough. Of course it is nicer if you give your team a heads up, but just bc it's 2 years doesn't mean you signed a lifetime commitment to their stream.

Is streaming with copyrighted music scary?

Draco1200
commented

How bad is it to get a copyright strike

A few strikes can in theory cause account termination, and multiple VODs or instances of playing music can in theory result in multiple strikes all at once. Large media companies often conduct takedowns in large batches, so a streamer could think they were getting away with it, then the next day 20 VODs are claimed, and their account is closed.

And how do you get permission from the artist to use his music

You'd need to clear it with All the rightsholders. Airing the recording of a song involves multiple copyright works. Many songs have multiple rightsholders, and even different authorship for the performers versus composers and publishers of the music. This would be by contacting the rightsholders (Or if the album is from a label: the company, such as the record label and music publisher that manages those respective rights.).

How to add complicated counter command using nightbot in the chat?

Draco1200
replied to calexil

This particular scenario of referencing multiple counters from a single command is not currently supported in Nightbot. Nightbot has had it shown as a planned future feature for a long time, but there actually haven't been any upgrades to Nightbot for several years.

The suggested workarounds would be either to custom program and host a web application somewhere.. Nightbot can fetch a custom URL and display the result using the $(urlfetch https://example.com) syntax. There is possibly a CountAPI service discussed on the Nightbot forums

Alternatively... Consider using a different bot for those commands.

Fossabot has named counters

And several other alternative bots that have this:

Streamelements' chatbot also has named counters you can reference arbitrary counters within a chatbot command; instead of counting the number of times each command is used.

Mixitup also has named counters

Streamerbot has user variables

In light of the recent news regarding Doc. Why is no one discussing the fact that Twitch was protecting a pedophile from legal punishment?

Draco1200
commented

Why is no one discussing the fact that Twitch was protecting a pedophile from legal punishment?

Because no proof has come to light that Twitch was wrongfully protecting them?

Every indication would be Twitch rightfully protects their users.
As a platform operator you are not legally able to disclose private information of your users - If something potentially illegal happens, then you share information with Law enforcement only, and under confidence. Law enforcement's investigations are similarly strictly confidential, unless and until such time as they lead to an arrest or charges in court, so as far as the public is concerned - we should expect to never know, unless the parties themself disclose information, Or legal charges result.
Twitch as the platform is a 3rd party; they are not involved until one of the parties of the conversation reports a violation to Twitch, and Twitch investigates the report. The contents of the reports, and Twitch's investigation would be highly confidential private information belonging to those involved.

Twitch's policies would have Twitch reporting suspected crimes to authorities, but even Doc's admissions claimed that nothing illegal happened.

It's very possible they were reported to authorities, but some finding such as Only precursors to a possible crime, or not enough evidence to an actual crime.

Don't expect a public disclosure from Twitch, either.. Twitch legally cannot publicly release private account information; whatever happened in those whispers, and even the reason for their Twitch account termination would fall within the scope of private account details.
