R1T spotted in Europe (Spain) by Opposite_Echo_7690 in Rivian

[–]AngryFace4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just reread the provisions and I see they use the term “technically permissible maximum laden mass” - which now that I’m reading it again is probably the same as we call “gvrw” (gross vehicle weight rating), which for the r1t is 8540 lbs or 3.85 metric tonnes

Anyway… I think you’re right.

Oh dear. not good. what yalll think? by hollyflynn22 in iphone

[–]AngryFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the in-app porn violates iOS terms so… it’s probably only on the App Store because Apple knows that iPhone users would be less likely to buy iPhones.

Now that hating twitter is popular, however, Apple sees this as a good time to get what they want.

Edit: I think I might be wrong, read below thread.

Actually 3.85 tons (US) is 3.492661 metric tonnes. EU measures commercial vehicle weight beginning at 3.5 metric tonnes, so R1S and R1t are good as is.

I don’t think it’s a mechanical sound, it’s sound like “sad notification”

I just checked again after this post and there’s one a little further out for 145, which comes to like $260

If you’re talking about combustion, no: https://youtu.be/vJjKwSF9gT8

There are other ways to use hydrogen though.

When Destiny was on twitch "Hot Tub Streamers" was the "polite" synonym for "Boobie Streamers" - I think he's just been away from that world long enough to miss the lingo updates.

Isn't the most valuable thing Nick can offer is his stream outreach? Or is he aware that if he continues his current brand that it's poison to politics? Kinda weird no matter how you slice it.

The new Dr Pepper has 78% added sugar. Am I reading the label wrong? by avitony in nutrition

[–]AngryFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USDA recommended amount of sugar is probably higher than most people should consume. I would go as far as to say it's less of a "recommended amount" and more of an upper limit, emphasis on the upper.

A single soda should probably be all of your daily sugar, and frankly, we probably just shouldn't consume soda at all if we want to be healthy.

Proud of my country for standing up to big injustice! by rogargaro15 in iphone

[–]AngryFace4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Including a charger with the phone doesn't mean it's gunna be included for free.

Also, Apple probably isn't the one charging you 1800 dollars, I assume a large portion of that is import tariffs from Brazilian government. There are plenty of non-us countries where iPhones are sold at a 'reasonable' price (though I admit this year less so than previous years, probably inflation related)

How easy is iPhone to iPhone transfer? by hamadatadashi in ios

[–]AngryFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you turn on the new one one of the first things it'll ask you is 'how do you want to transfer everything over' - select your choice and then it just happens without you having to think about it.

ELIA5 Are most password managers not a single point failure? by OVKHuman in hacking

[–]AngryFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of character length is that you’re less likely to pick something that is easily guessable with brute force, not because it makes the hash easier to solve.

ELIA5 Are most password managers not a single point failure? by OVKHuman in hacking

[–]AngryFace4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure you’ve grasped how hard it is to break an AES256 hash of a 16 digit password with good character mixing.

This is what password managers rely on. Humans don’t do a good job of memorizing multiple hard character strings. You’re more likely to make a mistake when you try to manage it in your head.

Amazon Alexa Woes - Possible Impact to Rivian? by BigDRM in Rivian

[–]AngryFace4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the safe bet is that big corporations will do what they normally do and continue to push for their product as long as it's not actively hurting their business model.

Rivian isn't Amazon, however Rivian is very very invested in making Amazon happy. If it were to become a big sticking point for Rivian selling cars that Alexa is shit, then they would have to make a very hard decision to decouple that or not. Unfortunately I don’t think we’re yet in a world where normal consumers care about the “smart” features that come with the car, it’s just icing.

That said, this is a totally different conversation as to whether they implement AA or CarPlay. Rivian is self interested in making their own software better; I'm glad they are, I'm a proponent of car companies including a strong software devision rather than it being an afterthought with the traditional OEMs. When we use Rivian software (particularly maps) they can collect that usage data to make that software better.

Today AA and CarPlay do not integrate well with the native UI, I hope that's what Apple is trying to solve with CarPlay2, but I won't hold my breath. This is what we really should be pushing for from the Apple and Google, is integrated experiences that benefit everyone, including the OEM.
