He basically has painted himself into a corner in some regards. He had to court the very conservative religions folks that live in the rural parts of Turkey to maintain power and now that he has the power, he has to keep doubling down to maintain their support because he cant flip back to courting the more liberal populations of Istanbul. Well put, people really like to forget that Obito was a kid when Madara corrupted him. I'm not excusing what he did, but it is somewhat understandable that a kid who lost everything and should have died was manipulated by a bigger evil who effectively saved his life, then molded him into what he became. I think the "simp" stuff is overblown and he deserved some kind of peace at the end of it all
